DC Candidates(post 2024 season)

I don't really want anybody that Mario hires. He's pretty terrible at it. Take away Cam and we are probably talking about hiring an OC.

Frankly I’m not against this either. Dawsons been alright but his feel of the game leaves a lot to be desired. We can do better. Unless he takes another gig though I don’t think we’re going to replace both coordinators again in the same offseason.

Dawson had the #1 offense in college this year.
This is true statistically, but honestly I just don't love his play calling. Even though he used the tight ends more this year i still don't think it was enough. Arroyo is a special talent & should have been a routine primary target. He also doesn't seem to want to use speed and run outside the tackles.

He’s not firing him. If he even leaves, it’ll be a situation where be finds another gig etc
This^

By the time Guidry leaves, most (if not all) of the “available” candidates will no longer be on the market. Wake me up when Guidry is actually gone. Until then, I will focus my attention on the Recruiting Board and the Portal Board. It’s the only thing worth discussing, unfortunately.

The whole "firing coordinators" thing also is consistent with last 20 years. This is always done to mask the ineptitude of the head coach and that you have no established identity and culture. Again, how many coordinators are going to be fired and changed until we identify the core of the problem: Mario Cristobal.

We need to flex and take a defensive HC and bring him as a DC. We need more guys that know football on this staff. Dave Aranda or Justin Wilcox or something like that. We need someone that can operate schematically but also understands how to teach and coach.
Wow, is Nick Saban available? He fills all those requirements, if they can pry him from Game Day.

JT will be promoted. Guaranteed.
I want JT to have a larger role. I often wondered what say he had in the schematics for the D-line. But, if he agreed and thought it was a good idea to move Meisdor out to cover a running back, especially after he was wrecking havoc on Syracuse’s O-line in the first Qtr. I might rethink things about JT.

We are just not in a position to hire a new DC. We would potentially be on our 3rd DC in 4 years. Who wants to come here after the first 2 failed? That’s why I think a promotion from within happens.

I said it when Mario hired Dawson and Guidry. What coach became successful after replacing both coordinators year 1?

Mario has had chances to find the right coordinators but it hasn’t worked out. This can go south in a hurry.

At least Houston was a P4 job and before that Mario got Gattis who was at Michigan(yeah yeah I know it was bad hire).

If boosters and admin are serious about football, pay up for a DC.
Actually, Houston was not in the P4 when we took Dawson.

Hopfully MARIOs ego let’s this happen

Good for him. That just shows what a hack the guy is. Guidry led an abysmal defense who couldn't get out of their own way. You saw it. Mario can do what he wants. What a circus this is going to be.
