Dallas moved back to DB

This is a ploy to make our defense look better during the spring. Always marketing.

For you geniuses who negged, this was a joke about the "always marketing/branding" theme. Obviously, you don't move a player to make a defense look better. Yikes. Must have struck a nerve.

Sometimes it's hard to figure out what's a joke. THere are a LOT of posters on here who likely would think exactly what you said. Some even had the gall to claim that Golden going to see JoJo in the hospital and spending time with his family was a marketing ploy as well. Glad to hear you were just joking and not one of that fairly large group of "fans" that we have on this site.

Just a lot of dumbasses around here who are overly-sensitive to criticism of Saint Golden.

No, just a lot of people used to dumbasses like you making statements like that in seriousness. Hard to tell when someone making such a dumb comment is joking, when there are so many like you who make such dumb comments regularly.

safety is the KEY to a great defense..if you dont have a SS leading or close to leading tackles ( top 3) , pics you are not going to be good on defense...just look at our record stats since Randy Philips who was not a monster but we were a top 30 defense......Dallas improving the defense out weights Dallas helping the offense
getting him in there now at spring to see the players infront of him get used to the speed of his players etc is huge...nothing but a WIN WIN for us...

You really think it's difficult to notice that the comment that basically says "we moved someone to a new position as a mass cover-up to make the defense look less crappy" is a joke? For real?

I know things are tense around here and people are frustrated. There are a lot of comments about the lengths Golden will go to "cover" for his friend. I'm yet to hear or read anything as ridiculous as "we moved Dallas Crawford from RB so the defense wouldn't get punished as bad." We're talking about an actual player. He actually moved to another position. I find the concept so ridiculous that I thought it'd be an obvious joke. Especially when it's followed up with "everything is marketing."

The fact I've now had to explain it 3 times seems like a reflection that the board is polarized and ready to pounce on anything that goes against one of the perspectives. It wasn't trolling. It was sarcasm. It was sarcasm aimed specifically at the "Golden Wars."

People forget he was recruited as DB and was on the defensive scout team, and was MVP, early at UM...

Getting the thread back on track, sorta, if he can be an upgrade to what we had Highsmith doing last year, great. Frankly, at this point, we should NOT be having Safety issues at UM. Jenkins, Bush and Carter should be developed. We should have another guy in line. Given SoFla's abundance of DB talent, the issue is staggering our recruiting a bit better. We'll get a crazy influx of DB talent this year. I hope we can become more consistent.

this is an acknowledgement that Dallas isn't that good at running back, and he's not. he basically had two really good games against subpar defenses in 2013.

what he did last year was awesome and helped salvage the position after duke went down but he averaged 4 yards per carry which is *decent* for the NFL but not good at all for a team with aspirations of being back in the top 10-15 in the country.

It was nothing short of abusive to place Crawford in there with an underperforming OL and predictable play calling. It really got ridiculous wasting what Clements had left and not getting Gus more carries. I guess Gus will be getting some work now.
