Dallas moved back to DB

Yearby aint bad..... Lets see what happens next year when kids dont have to worry about going to a program with the death penalty looming

My biggest fear is another injury to Duke. Coming off an ankle injury, Yearby as well.

When Duke went down last year, we saw how badly our offense suffered. I don't think its completely inconceivable to think missing on Alex Collins in the 2013 class cost us the Coastal.
If Duke and Yearby go down with injuries we're f*cked with our without Crawford at RB. I have no problem with moving Crawford back to defense because he probably has a higher ceiling at safety. The more fundamental issue is how thin we are at RB due to missing on Collins, Sony, Cook, and Powell.

The staff has struck out on RB's almost as badly as DT's. Given all of the talent at the position in the SoFla region this past couple of years, I figured this wouldn't be a position of worry.

This isn't the 90's or early 2000's.
You haters seem to neglect the premise that if we got Cook and say Powell or Sony to go along with Yearby, then picked up another stud next year, probably 2 of those superstars would hardly get any carries and more than likely transfer.
Guys aren't going to sit and wait 3 years anymore to play as a redshirt junior.

Almost impossible to have 4 stud running backs with 2 of them sitting at 3rd and 4th string, picking up only garbage time carries.

We have 2 studs, then a handful of other guys. You can play the what if game all you want, but the reality of an 85 scholarship limit, or, for us, an 82 scholarship limit, is that you have to pick and choose your depth.

Just the way it is.

Look at the rest of College football. LSU landed two of the top backs in the country this past cycle, one of whom is arguably a once-in-a-generation type talent that can grab the starting position upon stepping foot on campus.

Sony Michel embraced the idea of competition. UGA signed him and Nick Chubb, another top back.

In 2013, Bama landed four players who could play running back. In the same year, USC landed two of the top running backs as well.

Every time anyone takes a shot at the Golden one, you're the first to step in and take a bullet.

This argument is garbage and another futile attempt to absolve the staff of any guilt.

Seems like everyone made the same excuse after Collins committed to Arkansas.

"It doesn't matter, next year's class is loaded!"

Meanwhile, Duke Johnson goes down and so does our season. As I mentioned, missing on Collins probably cost us an ACC title game spot.

We're still thin at the position with two guys coming off major injuries. Though I concede the move of Crawford likely signifies the staff's comfort with Yearby's recovery, this is a position with plenty of attrition.

All but minutes away from the Miami campus, Johnson, Collins, Cook, Michel, Yearby, and Powell put together huge seasons for their respective high schools. We had the opportunity to bring in truly special running back classes that could challenge the best in College Football. Instead, we went 2 for 6.

This past year was remarkably concerning. Everyone and their mother could tell we needed help when Johnson went down. Opportunity was present and we brought in a OL class that would make any running back salivate. Instead, we saw Cook, Michel and Powell take off.

Inexcusable.

I'd say fielding the worst D in Miami Hurricanes history probably cost us a shot at the ACC Title Game. Y'know more than Alex Collins taking poor advice and signing for Arkansas.

2011 signed best back in country
2012 signed big bruiser that fsu wanted
2013 another Dade legend and top 5 in country

Clearly a failure!

The problem is that big bruiser that fsu wanted played second fiddle to a smallish guy who switched positions.....yearby could be another Charlie jones for all we know. The rb class of 2014 had some pretty elite guys that Golden whiffed on despite having a favorable depth chart.

On the flip side uga has two elite guys already on hand and were still able to land another elite guy in Michel plus some other guy. Golden got one guy in yearby but needed another badly. That's where the failure comes into play coupled with the fact that he hasn't really landed anyone at this point besides yearby. **** duke committed to Shannon and was coming here regardless IMO.

Rb depth is an issue due to Goldens recruiting failures.

Just don't agree with that. I think we will be fine with Duke/Yearby/Edwards. Another stud RB would have been nice, but a luxury. Time will tell, but to use language like "failure" is a bit over the top.

If Gus is making the progress that observers seem to indicate he has, our RB's are not going to be the problem for Miami in 2014.

Looks fine on paper. Who knows if yearby will be ready. He looks small to me and doesn't have break away speed. Edwards could emerge..who knows really? Isn't like Edwards was good enough to force his way onto the field. He was kinda forced into action and even the. It was spot duty.

All n all it's not the situation Miami should have at rb especially the mess that was seen last year after Duke went down. That's failure in my book but the staff managed.

Jesus Christ

Thanks for ruining the kids career, Golden

Kid would not have seen the light of day behind Duke, Gus and Yearby. Besides, he's one of those guys that every team wants and needs: blue-collar, team-first, hard worker. His value lies in those traits.

His value probably lies best in the slot receiver position, as many here have argued, but whatever.

Regardless, we're thin at RB for all of Spring and we better hope Yearby and Duke come back strong from those injuries. If they sustain injuries again this year, RB is going to be a big problem.

Who cares? How many games do we play in the spring? We're talking about practice... practice? jp but yea lets train our guys in positions of need based on GAme 1 of the regular season and not spring.

The only reservation I have is that Dallas definitely has a nose for the end zone. Gus on the other hand stumbled time after time on the goal line. In a game where TD's mean the most we better be confident Gus can overcome his goal line issues.

He'll learn to lower his pad level. He was a freshman who played HS ball in NY. He's a kid you'd like to shirt but he has all the physical talent in the world. It's on our coaches to help him learn the nuances of the position

GUS is running great out of the gate...lets see how bad he wants that number 2 spot for now..

This isn't that hard to understand. Coley wants some big bruisers to compliment Duke & Yearby.
So Gus & Tucker will fill that void, which leaves Dallas in the dust.

Imo we're going to see A LOT of Gus edwards next year. I expect a 1-2 punch of Duke-Gus
