Daily debate: what QB would you want over Carson Beck?

What is adjusted yards per attempt? I fell like the guy who had the most 20 yard+ passes shouldn’t have ended up in the 60’s in yards per attempt nationally. The head to head battle in week ones wasn’t even a comparison either. I get that Georgia has a good defense but so does Clemson and Cade did absolutely nothing while Beck completed 70% for 280 and 2 TDs. I like Klubnick’s athleticism and he’s going to win a lot of games this year again but I’m not sold that he’s a consistent passer. I will say Clemson’s OC does a really good job of tailoring what they do offensively around his strengths.
Adjusted takes into account interceptions and touchdowns.

I’m not sold on him being the most consistent passer either, but neither is Beck. This is a Klubnik vs Beck right now conversation. Klubnik coming off a one of the best years of any QB last year, vs a guy rehabbing from a major injury, after having a down year.

Beck went 24-3 in the SEC. No other returning QB has a resume anything close to that. Guys like Mateer may have huge upside, but I'm not trading the guy who's been there and done that for any of them.
Wins aren’t a QB stat. Beck had a better record than Jayden Daniels. Is he better than Daniels? A ton of QB’s had a better record than Cam coming into last year. Was there a better QB than him?

Not a gotcha question just genuinely curious

Opinions on Beck seem to be pretty mixed. I think part of it is just coming back to earth after Cam but also knowing Beck is coming off of a major injury

Perfect world who would you want as Miami’s QB for 2025 over Carson Beck?

I had a tougher time with this question than I thought so figured I’d put it out there
Drew Allar, hands down.

☝🏾....= overrated
Overall yes he is. But he hasn't had any time to develop either. Coming out of high school I thought he was really overrated. After seeing him get reps now I see the potential and it is HIGH up there. But a long way to go and that system makes people look better than they are.

So CIS can only **** on our own players when they get thrown under the bus to protect Mario, I get that right?

Interesting. Most of us that chose to give the players credit are the mopes…

Wild
Nobody knows what Arch Manning truly is as he's never been a starter but yet we would rather have him as our QB over the proven guy whose actually on our roster?

It will be the same thing they say right now about WR and any other position where it is not a starter returning. 75% of the board will be freaking out saying the season is doomed if we don't get someone from the portal. We could have freshman Trevor Lawrence in the wings and still say how we need to get Kelly Bryant from the portal cause he started and was "good"

In that order. It’s time we actually develop a QB. I’m thankful for Cam but let’s be real, Beck isnt even close to Cam. In fact every QB for the next decade will be compared to Cam and every QB will fall short. We shot out wad last year and missed due to a program worse defense.

Ride with one of the young guys. Let the talent around him shine and let him grow. 2026 is going to be a disappointment regardless of who is at QB.

There is NOTHING special about Carson Beck. He doesn’t have the “it” factor, he’s not “that dude” and he just lost the only special thing about him in dating the twins.

The 2023 Beck is good enough. I live in Georgia, so the Lamborghini/Cavinder drama killed it for him at UGA. He'll have a better chance for a reboot at Miami than he would have had in Athens.

Ok so it’s not really a measure of whether or not you’re pushing the ball downfield. It really looks like Clemson didn’t have much of an intermediate passing game last year.

Cant even say you’re wrong because you had people saying ward and will howard was 1A/1B

People keep getting fooled by team wins, for qbs i can understand it a little but you would think we would stop that after seeing cam but this board even did it for meesh last year lmfao smh
I’m not someone who cares about wins as a QB stat because there’s plenty of examples of a quarterback carrying a team and still losing. I AM more interested in the level of competition a potential transfer quarterback competed at. A guy who has started against P4 competition isn’t going to struggle to adjust to the competition. So a guy like Beck or Cade Klubnick has been up against the top line talent you see more often at the P4 level. It’s also why I’m hesitant with a guy like Mateer. WSU was a crappy Pac12 team but they were by far the most talented squad in the MWC last year and that’s essentially who they competed with. I saw Emory Williams absolutely light up a G5 Ball State team. Why should I be impressed with how any other quarterback looks against San Jose State? The guy has a nice skill set but there’s huge jump in competition from who he was playing to the SEC teams he’ll be playing against at Oklahoma.

Please refrain from commenting on quarterback play again. Thanks.

The frustrating part, for me, is that the media and many in our fanbase will constantly be comparing Beck to Cam. Every play, every pass, every game. The reason it’s frustrating is because it’s an obvious and moot point. The hope, or understanding, is that if everything works out like we think we won’t NEED him to be Cam. Let’s say the defense is drastically improved - the DB’s are light years better, the LB play is dramatically better, and the D-Line ends up being a beast - well, that already makes us a much better TEAM overall than last year. If those things fall in place we don’t need Carson to be Cam 2.0. We just need him be on the level he displayed in his 23’ season and that should more than suffice.

This thread reminds me a lot of last year. Everyone had their list of QBs they'd rather have over Cam Ward. Everyone had questions about his fumbling, decision making and people even questioned if he could win over the locker room. Ward proved everyone wrong and thrived in this system. If Beck has a full recovery, there is no doubt he'll be able to put up huge numbers, which will then put himself in the Heisman and first round pick conversation

No one, not only will he be fully healthy, but his arm strength will go up after the surgery. So he he’s gonna have a stronger arm and he’s gonna be under an offensive coordinator for the first time in his career as a starter, that can get creative and build an offense to suit his strengths, the best. I honestly when everybody is healthy, do not see a better quarterback in college football than carson back this year. So I believe we’ve gotten the best quarterback out of the portal two years in a row, and if Beck has the kind of season, we expect him to, I think he’ll be the number one draft just like Cam.

Are you sure it was everyone?

Yes it is. It’s just adjusted to include TD and INT.

Yeah, that’s probably an exaggeration but there was definitely a contingent here that wasn’t sold that he would be the answer. Even though I thought he was by far the best option available, I didn’t think he would be as good as he was for us. Cam’s incredible season seems to have blurred a lot of the history. I am 100% positive if we would have polled everyone last offseason who they would prefer Cam or Carson Beck, 90% of the board would have said Beck. ****, half the people here didn’t even know who Cam was until we started shopping for a portal QB.
