Daily debate: what QB would you want over Carson Beck?

A) idk what ska means
B) No lol. Klubnik has had one good year. Beck had one basically elite year and an average year. If klubnik has a year like this past season he’ll have made himself into a good college qb. If Beck has a year even close to his 23 season it isn’t even close
***same

Beck’s elite year was bc of his elite teammates. When they left and his OC left, he was average.

Klubnik’s offense was trash. He finally got some talent and had a great year.

lol I like how UGAs talent around him this past season was completely glossed over too then lol. His wr core led the nation in drops.

No matter what you want to say Klubnik was good not great this season. And he was dog**** the previous yrs.

like I said we need Beck to get much closer to his Int% from 23, vs 24. He does that and he’s far better than Klubnik period.

This really isn’t that significant of a difference. He was better. He wasn’t elite whatsoever.

If I’m not mistaken. QB’s are taught TOUCHDOWN to CHECKDOWN. So big play hunting is the way to go. If and when it’s there. It also has the U with the first player about to be drafted. In this years NFL draft and he’s a QB.

Some progressions go deep to short and some go short to deep depending on the passing concepts.

By big play hunting I'm talking about going off script after the initial deep read isn't there and bypassing the check-down.

He's a fantastic player, person and teammate who could have been more disciplined on the field, at times; I won't lose objectivity just because he's the best player in the class.

I don’t care about the NFL. They aren’t in the NFL. This thread wasn’t about the NFL. My post wasn’t about the NFL. What happens when they leave college doesn’t have anything to do with anything.
So if we’re going to put NFL prospects aside, let’s talk about the fact that Emory Williams who can’t throw a forward pass beat the QB that you’re white knighting for? Is there a statistic you have to whitewash that, Ms Klubnik?

Someone correct me but isnt this chart actually showing that Klubnik is worse by a good margin? Awful explosive rate paired with a high EPA in lost turnovers sounds like TVD type QB. Becks chart just shows he was average last year.

Wins aren’t a QB stat. I’ve already addressed that.

Ashton Daniels, Jake Haener, Dante Moore, Haynes King, (should I continue?) beat Cam Ward.

No it’s showing percentiles where it’s better to be 100 everything in this spider chart. So closer to 100 is better for epa lost due to turnovers. And it’s using all qb seasons in CFP era as the relative comparison

So for instance

Carson Beck had a Joe Moore Finalist OL (Top4) in 2023 vs 2024 where his OL didn’t even finish as a Midseason Finalist (Top 22)

Miami OL this past year only finished as a Midseason Finalist (Top22)

If we looked at results simply in a vacuum yes absolutely you want to run a QB friendly system. However I suppose that depends what you consider QB friendly. to be friendly usually equates a high percentage throws in large volume. That happens on teams usually that don't have strong running games that aren't very physical etc.
I was going to mention a Mike Leach style situation where your system is QB friendly because it’s specifically designed around not having great talent. It’s great if you’re outmatched every week because it can keep you competitive but as we’ve seen with Air Raid guys who actually start winning at a high level, the system has to get tweaked to be more balanced.

So essentially, with Shannon Dawson, Miami is running a QB friendly offense.

For me, Mateer was my main choice. Loved his film and game. Offers an athletic profile that very few other QBs have. Beck was next up in the portal.
