Chris Wheatley-Humphrey

Deejay Dallas was 5’11 175 as a Junior.
If a rb weighs 175 as a Junior he’s gonna be at least 200 by the time he finishes college.

DeeJay Dallas was listed between 182 - 191 lbs on the recruiting sites. Maybe CWH's weight will change by signing day.

To give a visual on how much weight a RB puts on - here's our RB recruits 2010-2020. So the 2020 guys are going into their 4th year in college.

Recruit Weight =
247 recruit profile weight
Final Weight = Either NFL Combine, Pro Day, or Current Roster weight (whatever the best available was)

I'd say adding about 25 lbs is an optimistic but realistic expectation.

5-11.5 170??

@OriginalCanesCanesCanes - I've been using 6-0 175 and that's upsetting you because that might be inaccurate. Are you upset because you're thinking he might be even smaller?

Joking aside - I love CWH as a take. He's a playmaker on film and the coaches have loved him at camp where he's looked great at both RB & CB. I want him to start at RB and see where it goes from there. I think it's very much in play that he could be a big playmaker at RB in college.

But it's a 100% fact that very few RB's historically have had similar height/weight measurements as CWH as recruits. There's no argument against it. You can say "you're wrong, there's plenty" all you want but you won't be able to provide examples because there aren't any.
I think you meant @TheOriginalCane

I doubt @OriginalCanesCanesCanes cares about this.

Coach Hayes has gone on record many times stating that he doesn't know kids official height and weights... He only states what it says on their recruiting profile.

I love CWH's film - but he's 6-0 175 lbs.

For reference as to how skinny that is - 247 has 57 RB's in the 2024 class that are 6-0+. The only one under 180 lbs. is CWH at 175 lbs.

While the film looks great at RB - he's not built at all like a RB. So that makes him hard to project or rank highly.

Think Corn Elder as a comparison

Because he can’t gain an easy 15 lbs by the time he’s a sophomore here.. that’s two years away.. c’mon man!!! Most players have to gain 10-30 pounds before they hit the field in college so it doesn’t matter. But none of the other backs his size are not sniffing a third of his ypa 😂

Again - no one is arguing that CWH won't put on weight. It's how far behind the 6-0 175 lb starting point is and the amount of weight he needs to put on I'm giving context to.

Let's say CWH starts at 175 and he puts on 10, 20, or 30 lbs.

119 RB's have measured at 6-0 at the NFL Combine since 2000

0% - (0 of 119) have weighed 185 or less
3% - (4 of 119) have weighed 195 or less
8% - (9 of 119) have weighed 205 or less

If CWH puts on 30 lbs - then 92% of 6-0 RB's still weigh more than him.

Watched Duke play throughout high school. I just knew he was a NFL back after his JR year when he led us to states.
Remember when Norland traveled north to GC to play the Raiders (who were ranked #1 in state).

That was the moment I knew he was special. No broward or Dade team had beat GC in Glades in like 20+ years. He dominated.

I thought you were doing battle over this in here the other day???

As a general battle, yes, I find bshaw's statistical analysis to be garbage.

But I was not duking it out over specific heights/weights. I don't trust any of that stats crap from Rivals/247/on3.

This is exactly why coaches need to see these kids in-person and on campus.

The obsession with rb weights cracks me up lol. Like this is three yards and a cloud of dust power football being played today. There‘s rb’s then there’s apb’s (all purpose). You have a combination of guys. The north south guy that’s physical between the tackles then you have quicker , twitchier , more explosive guys for outside runs , screens and gadget plays. Which are better in the pass game. You want different skill sets and body types in these offenses. Just like Urban had Rainey , Demps and Brandon James. None of whom were big or physical.

These threads and takes always just leave me shaking my head.

I'm assuming the last two cycles. Good balance of both backs

2023
North/South: Mark Fletcher
AP: Chris Johnson

2024
North/South: Kevin Riley

Wait, you are saying that you can't take SELF-REPORTED heights/weights for 59 running backs from an internet website and then form hard-and-fast conclusions?

I am shocked. Shocked I tell you.

:ROFLMAO:

I don’t understand why people are obsessing over weight.

Kids go to college and put on 15 pounds in the first year even when they don’t play football.

As long as the kid isn’t 150 pounds or 230 (see Thad) pounds playing running back in high school his weight won’t be an issue in college unless they personally allow it to be an issue.

They’re probably happy he’s at 175 or whatever. It allows them to slowly bring him along, develop him, and only put good weight on him that won’t crush his speed.

This is legit a non issue

That’s some solid RB recruiting right there

For sure. I would give that an A+ for that room. Also have no issues with Cristobal and Mirabal recruiting the offensive line. We just need to pickup WR, DT, CB and too some extent get a QB1 for next year. Overall talent would have definitely been upgraded at that point.

Desmond Fatson put on 15 pounds during his first minute in Hogtown. It was all the mac 'n mayo...

Definitely not me either. Unlike the stats nerds, I don't fight over a half-inch of height and 5 pounds of weight.

I think that stuff is all highly exaggerated anyhow, and I really don't care.

.

You called the stats I used BULL**** in all caps 6 times in your last post - so it felt like you cared a little.

Blindly denying and paying no attention to stats & analytics is definitely the wave of the future. I commend your stance.
