Canes to B1G?

LMAO.

So let me get this str8:

We’ve been mired in mediocrity since joining “The Mighty ACC”, playing in the division w/ the awesome Duke Blue Devils, the stampede of The Tarheels of UNC, the ever ferocious Panthers of Pittsburgh, PA, the Swift Swordsmen of Virginia, The Turkey Goblets of Virginia Tech, and the rambling bumble bees of Georgia Tech….that’s our formidable competition & we’ve won that bih ONE TIME, although we’ve out recruited all said schools **** near every yr besides 4 cycles (UNC-2009, 2017, 2020 & VT-2019). Yet now, u wanna go to the B1G which has OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, PSU, and Indiana?? Where Northwestern is also an up & coming school??

I’m lost.
If we’re talking about just winning games it don’t make sense, we’re not there yet. But to have a legitimate football program moving forward, especially if Clemson FSU leave and notre dame don’t join, it’d be crazy for us not to leave to Big10.

cfb bout to become the AFC and NFC. I’m not a fan of it but it’s what it’s heading towards

We should join the SEC.

The Big10 is a great conference, but Miami is not a northern team. I know that Miami sees itself as the Stanford of the South or whatever and our leadership would probably rather hobnob with the President of Michigan rather than Alabama... but I just hope our snobbery doesn't become a barrier for us.

From a recruiting standpoint, to a travel standpoint, to a money standpoint, the SEC makes way more sense. If FSU is in the SEC and Miami in the Big 10, that helps FSU recruiting-wise in my opinion. I think South Florida kids prefer the SEC.

Miami is in the Southeast. Join the Southeastern Conference if it's an option (and it would be if we wanted it). It's not rocket surgery.

I don't hate the idea of the Big 10, but I think the SEC is a better choice IMO.
Agree. From a purely football and recruiting , geographic point of view the SEC makes way more sense

Oh my god I can see it now. It’s a blizzard in Minnesota and our guys are there just in a ball of fear. Except for the two New Yorkers on the team

It's a interesting debate as to which area is a better cultural fit for Miami. Miami isn't a southern redneck town. You have a lot of folks from the eastern seaboard and especially from the New York/New Jersey area. The school fancies itself as being a rich private school with top academics, which isn't exactly the reputation of the SEC (minus Vandy).
Both are very different, clearly, but I'd say it's a case of "a little bit" of cultural familiarity versus "almost none."

Doesn't really matter, as I'd be for joining the B1G if the opportunity presented itself. In terms of sporting payments and academic money, it'd be a no-brainer.

I also think our fans would be excited to see some of those names (O$U, Pich, Pedo State) and would pack the stadium.

The empty stadium argument is thrown out the window if we’re in the sec. people will flock to hard rock and it’ll be rocking for games against ufag auburn bama lsu tamu Texas ou etc. yeah you got your ole **** miss state vandy and usce but even those teams are better than watching Duke ****** wake bc

Well, the closest Miami has been to being nationally relevant again was in 2017 when basically the entire starting roster was composed of Al Golden recruits, whom he had recruited trying to build a big 10 team. One opponent we played that closely resembled a big 10 team was Notre Dame, and we annihilated them.

Y’all seriously want to watch us play fckn Minnesota and Indiana every year… gtfoh!!! 🤡🤡🤡
Have you seen the ACC? You can’t be that stupid. Big 10 is a much better league. I rather play Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin than UNC, GT, Louisville of the world’s.

This happening is not a pipe dream. Ppl have to start looking beyond the traditional conferences. Miami, Clem, USC, FSU etc would be dumb not to try and get ahead of what’s coming. Only one school probably could wait another expansion out and that Norte Dame.
That’s not the hilarious part, the hilarious part is this “source” being some dude from a radio show that has nothing to do with college football and people believing it

Point taken...

I think Michigan/Chicago weather harsher...

Excellent point....

As someone else said, it goes both ways. Yes our guys will freeze their balls off but when Michigan goes from playing in 20 degree weather to 85 with 90% humidity in December, their players will be passing out on the field by the third quarter.

This woiuld actually be bigger for the Big Ten than it is for Miami or atleast mutually beneficial. For them to get a foothold in Florida and be able to get kids down here watching them it would be a bigger power move than TX and OU to the SEC. Pretty sure VT would try to follow us there as well. **** Turkeys will never let us go anywhere without them.
As for this cold weather stuff, cut the cr@p. Lets say the cold games start in November and its 4 games, split it two on the road and 2 at home. Thats playing Pitt, UVA, BC when we do and VT. I dont see much difference. I would love for this to happen. They wouldnt treat us like trash like the SEC and ACC do. Imo. These schools up north still respect us down or not.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. I use to work for a major sports franchise in this market and knew many of the guys at 790 and 560. Trust me when I say, those radio guys know important people in all the sports teams. Teams want the media to be on their side and radio people want free tickets and access to athletes.

I’m not saying what Mike Ryan is saying is true but to discredit him because he’s not affiliated with college football is absurd. Ryan is a huge Canes fan and he has contacts.

Thank you.
