Yes, but in the selection criteria, it specifically mentioned they could make such a subjective decision based on a major injury. I'm not sure they have such an out this year - not that Miami had any major injury anyway.

I find it comical, in a pathetic sort of way, that certain posters are on a Miami site arguing that Miami fans should be accepting of their team getting screwed when the metrics say otherwise. So weird.

they could have done that before the ACCCG bc travis got hurt before the UF Game and ACCCG. they chose to keep FSU in the playoffs until after the ACCCG. they knew they were going to ***** them. the injury is a good reason. but at the time they did that, they knew the injury happened and FSU still ran their schedule.

He had some pretty horrific conference losses (sound familiar) in those years. Regressed in Year 3. Blown out NY6 by the Gator Year 4.

My own personal timeline for Mario has always been a minimum of 5 years. Next year, I expect us in the ACC Championship game.

That 3 game stretch away to end the season will tell us whether he's improved as a coach or not.

Agreed, they should have done that when the injury happened. They probably thought FSU would play better without Travis, but after seeing how their offense performed in those 2 games, pulled the escape cord. Definite ****tease to FSU fans though.

Bama gets into the playoffs for the 9th time in the last 11

We have our best season in forever with a chance to squeeze in and get ****ed. One little chance finally to have a meaningful season.

I know our defense sucks, beat ‘Cuse and we would’ve been in, etc. But still, as a Canes fan that ******* burns man.

The rich get richer. Hate that ****. I’m salty af.

This really was the year for bama to sit the playoffs out. 3 losses, new coach, blowout loss to end the season. Didn't matter

Have you watched IU play? IU is pretty good. Really well coached. Margin of victory is highest or among highest in the country. The OSU game was 7-7 with a couple minutes left in the 1H then IU gifted OSU 2 TDs on special teams gaffes on both sides of halftime that turned the game (plus OSU scored a late style points TD after an onside kick).

The takeaway here is that we effectively start the season 1.5 games back from most every SEC and B1G team. And that SEC and B1G are going to get the 4 teams they want every year barring some absurdity. And perhaps that we have nothing to gain scheduling strong OOC games because they apparently can only hurt us.

Agree on the starting the season 1.5 games back. But then they'll say SOS matters if we only scheduled cupcakes. The metrics change when they place teams in and work backwards.
Basically have to go undefeated and win the ACC or we'll be out of luck
 
I said it last week when the rankings came out I think the comitte hedged on us winning the ACC as the reason to never rank SMU that highly and drop them out for bama.

Comittee is proving that point as well by stating that SMU losing to clemson could potentially knock them out of the playoffs. ACC was always getting one team in.

Would be interesting to see if Clemson beats SMU by 4 points or less if the committee actually drops SMU out tho.
