Canes at 6 in latest playoff ranking

College Football Playoff Selection Committee chair Warde Manuel said the committee values Miami’s performance this year, considering their dominant wins over teams like Florida as well as their ability to come back in other games.

“I think we value both when you win,” Manuel said. “Miami has a dominant win over Florida, then they had a close win in a very good game against Louisville. They found a way to win close games until they played Georgia Tech at Georgia Tech. You look at what they did this past weekend with their win over Wake Forest. (It) reminded the committee of how they played against Florida.

“We value winning with teams. But we do see when teams are playing close games and how they finish and whether they win them or lose them. We do watch that. But we value, ultimately, when the teams do find a way to win. But Miami has done both. They’ve dominated teams, and they’ve had some very close games. Even the loss to Georgia Tech was a close game.”

I'm not sure if UGA loses a close game to Texas in the SECCG that the committee punishes them enough to drop from #7 to #12. I could still see them staying in front of Clemson with 3 losses.
Yeah that’s a fair point especially with the head to head uga would have . I guess Clemson is hoping on Miami, Penn state, or Indiana to lose this weekend

I'm not disagreeing with you.. I'm referring to all of the people who still think Bama and Ole Miss are still sneaking in

This isn’t an exact science because you’re handicapping what people are going to decide to do, but take a look at DraftKings odds to make the playoffs.

Alabama +250
Ole Miss +500

So bama is definitely not dead by any means.

I agree but they have ******* SMASHED teams lately. I don’t think they’ve played less than a 3 score game in the last 2 months. That is a horrible loss tho.
Yes. I think they are a top 5 team, certainly top 5 defense. Teams don’t score more than a couple TDs against them. But you have to punish them for that loss.

Nobody will disagree about Norte Dame getting in the playoffs if they beat USC but 100 percent they should be punished in the rankings for losing at home to a 6-5 MAC team. That's a terrible loss now that we look back at it

They scored 3 ******* points. THREE!
Yep. The only reason they are ahead of ole miss and usce is because they beat them both so they had to put them there. Just like last year when Texas beat them and they had to put Texas in because they got in. ASU, ISU, byu really got screwed. No love for big 12 even though one is gonna get in anyway. Let's just beat the Orangemen.

A low-key game this week that'll make the ACC contenders look better is a Louisville win over Kentucky, a team that beat Ole Miss and played UGA close.

I also think USC has a real chance over ND.
Pulling hard for:
Vandy over Tenn,
AU over Bama,
Clem over SC

and a few minor miracles in:
GT over UGA,
Miss State over Ole Miss
FSU over UF (cause **** 'em)

SMU has a legitimate gripe. One early season “good” loss. But my only true objection to those rankings is ND. They should at a minimum be the lowest ranked one loss team based on who they lost to.
It's crazy how ACC teams are getting absolutely crushed for daring to lose a game, yet Georgia / Ole Miss / Alabama can **** down their leg in prime time and it's dismissed.

Must be so infuriating to be a non-SEC coach. Your team literally has to have a perfect season.

1 Oregon 0 loss
2 OSU 1 loss
3 Texas 1 loss
4 Penn State 1 loss
5 ND 1 loss
6 Miami 1 loss
7 UGA 2 loss
8 Tenn 2 loss
9 SMU 1 loss
10 Indiana 1 loss
11 Boise 1 loss
12 Clemson 2 loss
13 Bama 3 loss
14 Ole Miss 3 loss
15 USCe 3 loss
Boise is not a top 15 team but they gotta pander to the g5 lol

We beat Syracuse and we are locked in the top12 no matter what happens in the acc championship imo.

Crazy its going to take us beating SMU and Clemson losing to USCe to get bama in the playoffs which is what i think the comitte is secretly hoping for. They have to hedge something to allow 4 SEC teams in.
