Canes at 6 in latest playoff ranking

First time I’m fully agree with the rankings, sort of I didn’t realize bama was 13 they should be 15 or so

Thats my biggest gripe with the rankings is they keep handing Bama a lifeline

Why not 3? What would happen if all 3 of Miami, SMU and Clemson won this week? Why wouldn't all 3 of us go?
There’s not really a spot for Clemson if SMU stays in, it would have to be at SMU’s expense, unless a couple other teams in the top 12 lose this week.

Initial takeaways…

ACC shaping up for 2-bid league.

It’s going to be hard for Bama to jump Clemson if Clemson beats SCar, and Miami beats Cuse.

Our projected path is really, really fortuitous.

Tulane big jump will make it hard for UNLV to pass them, provided they upset Boise.
I think there's a possibility of 3 teams if Clemson beats South Carolina and We beat SMU in the ACCCG especially if a win vs Cuse puts us in the top 5

Funny things happen on the last rankings reveal. Teams have got flipped at the last minute.

Should be interesting couple of weeks for sure, but it’s there for us.

It will possibly be 3 if we win the next 2 games.
SMU gets in with a loss to Miami and Clemson if they beat South Carolina
Clemson will not leapfrog ND or Tennessee even if they win.

The only scenarios that would get three in imo is the following:

Miami, SMU, and Clemson take care of business.
Tennessee loses to Vandy, they’re out.
Miami loses a thriller to SMU like 41-38, then three are in.

ND loses to USC, it’s an argument. They’ll take a 2-loss Texas over Clemson. Same with Tennessee.

SMU gets jumped if they lose in the ACCCG imo. Only realistic scenario for all three is them winning the ACCCG in tight fashion over us, and Clemson beating SCar + one of Tennessee, Indiana or ND losing.

Its possible, just unlikely.

And there it is. You just heard the chair of the committee answering that staged question about teams with more losses than others. Flat out gave a precedent for 3 loss teams being in the top 12. It’s going to happen with at least one SEC team.
