Back on point, what I want to see most of all is progress on both sides of the ball (pressure on the coordinators) and competitiveness. I want to go into every game thinking we can win, and at some point, that we SHOULD win.
At what point do you begin to have real expectations for our staff? 8 years?
This team wasn't that bad 4 years ago... It wasnt that bad... The previous coach was expected to have double digit wins and he failed to do that and was fired... As of right now, the team was in better shape 4 years ago... This year there are no expectations... Just a bunch of excuses... The two qbs on top of our depth chart are transfers... That's a telling sign in its own right...
You're ****ting me? Tell me you actually believe what you just said. Provide some objective facts to back up what you said.
Well we were actually ranked going into the season and we were expected to accomplish something... That was the main reason why the previous coach was fired... I mean we have 2 transfers as our top 2 qbs... Harris had his worst season in 2010 but it was stil better than the season Heap had last year... Our defense is still a major question mark, outside of 2 players our wideouts is unproven as well as our oline... We are hopeful things will improve but our team is older with very little production from many of the juniors and seniors outside of Duke,DP, Chick and Howard... How is it better?
It was hopeless in 2010. We knew that Shannon wasn't the guy at that point. More importantly, other schools knew it, recruits knew it, etc. Golden started under pretty dire circumstances. The program was coming off the worst five year run in a very long time, sanctions, etc. I know people like to joke about "the cloud", but if you think that a huge part of FSU's run in recruiting classes/talent/success hasn't been fueled by Miami and uf being down, you are crazy. I would love for fsu and/or uf to be under investigation for a over two years, it's an incredible recruiting advantage in that you'll win a lot of the "toss up" players.
When comparing this year to 2014, I see 2-3 solid QB's on the roster. We'll see who emerges and if Ryan is able to come back in form. Not sure how I see having two QB transfers as a huge negative--if I was a top-notch QB in 2010-2012, not sure I would have come here either. No one is criticizing Saban on this board for likely starting a transfer at QB this year. After their run, even they were in a pickle at QB.
We have much more at WR than "two proven" players: Coley, Dorsett, Lewis, Waters, and Scott all disagree with you.
OL: Flowers, Feliciano, McDermott are proven. We'll see about Darling, Isidora, C McDermott, and Gadbois.
Yes, our defense is a huge question mark. I'm on record as saying that if we don't improve dramatically on defense, Coach D has to go, period. If Golden won't do it, the AD needs to grow a pair and force his hand.
Regarding your production of juniors/seniors comment…go down the roster, I think you'll find a few more guys that have done really well and have two more seasons to establish themselves if they haven't yet.
