Can We All Agree On One Thing?

It seems that every thread deteriorates into a shouting match about AG and MD. Can we just call a truce and wait for the season?

This fool has lost his mind... USC and PSU was in a worse predicament... How did the cloud hurt us? USC was bringing in 14-16 guys... We were bringing in 25 then adding about 3 more every June... I don't see what a cloud has to do with a terrible defense and getting out coached... We were still signing top 20 recruiting classes...

PSU yes but that wasn't even a football situation, it was so much bigger then that. I think it's funny that everyone here thinks that Al Golden is a "salesman" yet give no credit for what he did recruiting while that was going on. The easy dismissal of the cloud is due to Golden keeping **** together and being that salesman, not because the cloud was somehow less of a problem. The only thing we had on our side was that the world finally started to see the NCAA for what it really is as the investigation went on and public perception started to change. Really the only problem I have myself with golden is the GameDay issues you pointed out, but his recruiting during a time when people were talking death penalty was nothing short of astounding.

Please guy give it a rest, when AG stops making excuses and starts producing we will change our opinion towards him and his Buddy. Giving 500 yard games and turn around in the pre game interviews putting all fault on the kids is just flat out a bail out.

Why does it have to be one thing or the other. It's like either Al sucks or it's all because of the cloud. The cloud has a lot to do with not having a ton of junior/senior talent. Remember the class that Randy assembled when he was fired? Oh, you don't? Right, because one barely existed. Coach D certainly appears to completely suck as a coordinator--bottom 25% in the country most likely. It's a combo of the two…not all or nothing.

What does that have to do with being able to stop teams with less talent from scoring at will? That 100 percent coaching and scheme ?

I will call it a truce as soon people on this board will admit he has done jack **** but make excuses.

There is no acceptable excuse for Miami to lose any games in the coastal this year..none.. zip.. ziltch!

If these guys are crying about having no QBs on the roster now, then I'm glad they didn't become fans until 2002 because they would have had a stroke in 2000 when it was an unheralded 165 pound string bean and nothing else.

Your point is valid with the exception that Kenny was a 4* if I remember right.

He wasn't nearly as heralded as Heaps or Olsen coming out of HS. See where I was going now with that, Mr. Science?

Ok..so now 4*'s are unheralded in your world. lmao

Realize when someone is agreeing with you.

The first year they started using stars was 2000 class I believe, so you are making **** up about Dorsey being a 4 star

Just looked and both Scout and Rivals only go to 2002.

Dorsey didn't have anywhere near the buzz coming into UM that Heaps or Olsen had going into college, Clouseau. Capisce?

Let me know where I said he did. All I'm saying was that the dude was a USA Today honorable mention AA…far from "unheralded"

Wasn't Dorsey bound for Tennessee until Clausen committed there, and then he switched to us? This would be after the 1998 season, the year Tennessee won the national title, and 2 years removed from Peyton Manning. I think USC wanted him badly too. I think Dorsey was a pretty heralded QB coming in. He might not have been the #1 QB in the nation, but he wasn't some diamond in the rough either.

Sweet Jesus, thank you.

Tell USC that sanctions are no big deal, then realize that our situation was twice as bad and much longer. I know the cloud is gone and people are tired of hearing about it, but don't underestimate how bad things COULD have been. I'm tired of people saying the cloud was no big deal AND WHY HASN'T AL WON A BUNCH OF GAMES BY NOW???!!!

Absolutely, those are problems and nobody is denying that. Stop acting like because somebody says something positive about Golden it needs to turn into your either for or against him 100%. Is Golden a good gameday coach? No. Did he do a good job recruiting while under the cloud? Yes he did.

USC was crap at the time, and they didn't want him "badly". You guys love hyper-analyzing every fcking word like old ladies. Stick to the main point of the post, which was that our QB situation was dicier in 2000 than it is now. Instead of "unheralded" let's switch the word to "unknown commodity" who wasn't all that highly recruited or rated coming out of HS. Pretty sure he was a 3 star on most services and didn't have a bunch of big offers.

Regardless of whatever damage "The Cloud" did, we had more talent than VT and Duke last year. We got curbstomped. Next excuse.

USC was coming off an 8-5 season, 3 years removed from the Rose Bowl. They were nowhere near the USC they'd be in 5 years, but they weren't UC-Santa Barbara either. But, if you want to scratch USC off (he did have an offer from USC, and chose Miami over USC), fine, let's just go with Tennessee, the defending national champs, where he did commit. That's not a big time offer? The defending national champs? They were second in the SEC to Florida in the mid to late 90s as a program.

The biggest issue I have with Golden's ******* is acknowledgement of how we lost when we did. Most of the so called mopes wouldn't be as concerned if the defense giving up 500 yards had not continued and we were actually showing improvement. Last years Win/Loss wasn't the issue, it was how we lost. The bowl game where most of Golden's ******* predicted we would be up and dominate this game because it was our 1st bowl game in years. Don't believe me read this board. The posts are there.

Most believe the D will be improved based on talent alone, no one is using the scheme or how long these kids have been playing the scheme.
We are at a deficit on that side of the ball. WE don't have a Coordinator that can go up against a top 20 team/OC and out game plan them. To think Dorito is going to become something he hasn't shown in 3 years is just ******* ridiculous.

This is year 4, the shut the **** up year and deliver the results on the field.

OK. Dorsey, who weighed 165 pounds when he got here and was virtually ignored by all the major programs in his area of the country (he wanted to go to Cal but they didn't want him) was Peyton Manning, John Elway, and Mike Vick all wrapped in one. Happy now? He was the most heralded player in the history of California HS football even though most of the major programs in his area completely ignored him, and he was basically an after-thought for a bad USC team.
