Can We All Agree On One Thing?

College football experts have gone on record and said that we could have better team then last year however worse record.

That is a distinct possibility, but I think we are going to surprise a lot of folks this season. Sit back, grab a glass of Chambord and enjoy the ride.

Not winning Coastal might be a failure but winning it and looking as sad as we did at the end of last season would be still be huge failure. I want to be proud of our play. I want other teams to not want to play us again. I want to make opponents look bad not give them Sport Center moments. Sure, in the end the W is what matters, but this is THE U and really only the NC matters. For us to return to NC we need to know our staff will not be out coached by everyone in conference except Paul Johnson. I can live with losing the coastal if the season is full of the SOUND of Canes hitting people; the sights of tackles in opponents backfield; camera shots of the other coaches looking nervous at end of game and confused during it. I see, hear, smell and feel like friggin CANES, not chumps. Do that and we are back. It will only be a matter of time before we lift the trophy again. So no I do not agree that winning the Coastal is the measure. It is neither necessary, NOR is it sufficient. I want more than that. I want that feeling back. You remember it: I AM A CANE! NUF SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there's been "no excuses" for years. the only ppl making excuses are the cowards who make excuses for subpar performance cause it helps them sleep better at night

It's not easy to make my "ignore" list in under 50 posts...congrats!

As for the question at hand, I tend to agree with Franchise, which would be more satisfying, beating L'ville, Neb., FSU and VT or winning the coastal?

Let this corny post be a beacon to the rest of you cowardly f4ggots.

The truth is here and The Knowingsphere only grows stronger, if you don't want to be inundated and baptized by it's glory feel free to hit the "Ignore Truth" button just as this coward did.

I'ma fvck you f4ggots with facts until you love me.

I think we all can agree on that.

I'd take Duke, Coley, Perryman and Flowers before taking the next-best player in the Coastal. We have more front-line talent than we've had in a while. Depth still isn't where it needs to be but it's good enough. This team should be expected to win the division.

Indeed. And as much as we've wanted it to be true, it just hasn't been the last few years. We haven't had the talent. It isn't overflowing as it once was, but it's there for sure

It's too early to be making such concrete declarations. Some of you guys have no middle ground in your lives. With our conference schedule compared to Duke's and UNC's I don't think it would be an automatic failure to finish a game behind them.

If we completely tank and win 4 games, then the season's a failure. Otherwise, there is plenty of middle ground there. If the team keeps progressing and we start controlling more of the variables during games and the kids have fun and stay out of trouble and get their degrees, then I just can't be so callous as to call that a "failure".

dead at "controlling variables"

Canes can go undefeated in the coastal and still lose the division. Not to mention traveling to UL, VT on a Thursday, and Nebraska will be no cake walk. Instead of making such claims, just enjoy the season.

Kevin said "GUYS THINGS CAN AND WILL HAPPEN IN THE SEASON"

By far the best post I've seen on this website.

The only thing that Golden has said with balls since his intro press conference, "We don't play them all at once."

WTF do I care that we have UL in week 1, Nebraska in week 4 (after two money games) and VT on 12 days rest?

You are what your record says you are.

Not necessarily. For example, if FSU had to play in the SEC last year, I think most would agree that they would have lost 2 or 3 games. They went undefeated last year in a conference where they clearly weren't challenged. Yes they had to play their schedule, but you get the gist of what I'm saying.

The goal for 2014 is to win the coastal. Just get it done however possible.

Auburn managed to only lose 1 game in SEC play. Why wouldn't FSU fare the same?

Fsu would have mangled that overhyped SEC.

Because in the SEC, they would not have run the ball as well as they did in the ACC, which means a freshman Winston would've taken some lumps (as most freshman do) at different points.

The SEC was overhyped last year and while FSU would have been tested more, if they beat Bama then they would have run the table.
