Aside from the 566 yards and 5 TDs..,

Pretty much my view too.

Numbers aside, he missed a ton of throws, over-threw guys, threw at guys where his target zone was tiny and his odds low, and threw into tight coverage too many times. That's the case irrespective of the yards he put up.

Saying he had a lot of yards as if that is a response to the criticism is the type of anti-intellectual stupidity that characterizes the Presidential election. Jobs are better than they were in 2009 so hey, it's working.

Morris has a ton of potential. One of the things I like is that he manages to avoid dumb interceptions and has enough oomph on it that it doesn't just float out there. But he really needs to learn to make better decisions. He throws balls in places where it's just a bad choice. He throws into coverage where he's fortunate it's not an interception. For us, and for him in the NFL, he needs to learn probabilities, not just possibilities.

Aside from the highest yardage game in the history of the conference and the program, he was off target.

/I agree

Im riding with Dmoney on this. You guys are just too used to seeing garbage QB play that you dont know what it looks like to have a decent guy running the offense. If we are going to factor in Morris' miscues you need to also consider the drops by the TE's and WR's. There were a lot of yards left on the field today but most of that was not due to Morris. On this team, with this defense I dont mind a QB who is going to take some chances throwing the ball into coverage because we need to be aggressive on offense to win.

1. DCrigga agreed wit me, numbnuts.

2. The idea that you can't criticize after a win or after a lot of yards is an idea rooted in neanderthal stupidity. i suppose you can't compliment after a loss or a worse yardage game then? The reality is we're discussing pros and cons. Morris made some nice tosses. No one here is disputing that. He took some risks, and made some dumb tosses, too, and missed some he shouldn't have missed. If the purpose of this exchange is to do something other than collectively ********** onto a cookie, then we have to be honest about his positives and areas for improvement.

So now that everyone has weighed in can we all agree that, despite 566 yds and 5 Tds, Morris can play much better?

That's ******* scary (in a good way)

Still made a collection if some of the best throws a Canes QB has made in years, maybe ever.

It is true. And scary, yes.

Personally, I'd prefer a more balanced game call from Fisch and fewer shock and awe yards from SM.

Give me 375 yards passing and 225 yards rushing any day of the week.

Sorry I'm with money

Poor and so was our rushing game. less than 100 yards in unacceptable flat out. Defense still is weak and Fisch is not good with play call selection. Very frustrating!

I can't blame Fisch. Once again we seem to have a very weak offensive line that cannot open holes in short yardage situations. And, yet again, this OL is supposed to be the strength of the team. I don't know if it's kehoe or what, but it will lose us games. We needed five f'n turnovers to beat a mediocre ACC team. But I love the progression of the young players, and how the team is in shape and does not quit in the fourth.

This I can agree with. If he ever puts it together it will be one of the scariest things college football has ever seen.

That makes no sense. We have a huge OL, fully of highly regarded guys who have been through UTough a couple times.

If we can't get a serious push from this crew, then put Art in Sebastian the Ibis's costume and find a real OL coach.

The OL played their best game in years against GT. We have a big OL, so why not try to wear these guys down a little bit? When the run does not immediately work, Fisch abandons it too easily.

A more balanced offense will serve this team well going forward. I maintain that fisch needs to commit more to the run game. We keep passing when it doesn't work because we know it will eventually. I feel the same way about the running game.

His only real bad pass was a TD. He pretty much couldnt do anything wrong expect decide to throw to our stone handed TEs

He threw into double and triple coverage half a dozen times. This thread is an overreaction and there's going to be an equal, but opposite overreaction when the inevitable occurs (the bad side) with those throws.

He had a fantastic game and I'm not sure how anyone would argue that, but what concerns some people is what certain things mean going forward. I'm just happy I saw a couple glimpses of him hanging in the pocket. I thought those glimpses were MORE positive than the numbers he put up. It means more than whether he actually connects on those homeruns or not.

I think its just how the game shook out. We get to the line quick and then check to the sideline. Based on what the coaches see we run or pass. I don't have a problem with that.

I don't think it's because our O-Line is weak. I think what we're seeing is a very explosive offense, yet one that is also very inconsistent. The talent, the strength is there. They just need to put it together for four quarters now. Remember Morris is still learning, Scott and Dorsett are true sophomores, we got Flowers getting major time on the line. Still got a long way to go.

I have long been critical of kehoe, and this game exemplifies the frustration. Bottom line, we can't get even 3yards on a run up the middle against mediocre teams. That is a glaring weakness that really limits the play caller's options. It will cost us games.

I don't exactly disagree. There were a few throws today where he got lucky they weren't picked (that throw to the TE, I think Asante, in triple coverage in particular comes to mind). But I think people are sleeping on the increased number of throw-aways we're seeing from him when the play isn't there, in particular on the stuff he throws out of bounds. He's still going to have some more growing pains, but he's learning and getting better with each game IMO.

Whaaaahahahahahaha clowned

All this sarcasm isn't doing the kid any favors.

I have been one of his biggest critics and still am after today...but I refuse to nitpick him after the performance he had today. Do I still think he has A LOT of room for improvement? Yes. Am I sold on him after ripping up a garbage NC State Defense? No. Is he still terribly inconsistent and absolutely dreadful at various point in our games this season? Yes.

Do I care about any of that right now? No. Kid had an awesome day despite the lull in performance during the middle points of the game so he deserves nothing but praise.

However, when we play against better teams with real defenses he's going to have to play better and smarter for sure.

Ahahaha, this thread is too funny. The kid throws for over 500 yards and people are still complaining. Enjoy the ride guys.

I really don't even know what "riding with DMoney on this" means. I'm not entirely sure what D is trying to get across with the sarcasm. He threw for a lot of yards and had a fantastic game today? Yes, absolutely. Who would say otherwise? Will he struggle some going forward if he plays against other defenses the way he played against NC state today? Yes, he will. So, when he has a very bad game and throws for a **** amount of yards and multiple INTs, does that automatically make a bad QB? I don't think so, and that's my entire point here.

the pick was bad, and he almost threw another late in the game that would have sunk us

He and the offense gets no help from the defense, though.

had he made a better pass. we would have been up 30-7 in route to a rout.
