All-Time Miami Hurricanes Draft - D$ selects Shakespeare/JL

It's time to pick a QB to set the tone of my ruthless squad. Someone who leads. Someone who produces. Someone whose talent makes those around him better. Basically, similar reasons to why DMoney took the controversial Jim Kelly pick as #1 overall, except this is in Round 4....

....and for DEFENSE.

Are there other LBs? Ya, I guess, though the grouping is mostly outside. Are there other MLBs at the level of Barrow? Maybe one other, but he's a cut below Barrow as a leader and his ability to elevate others.

Consensus 1st All-American, great pro, and the leader of one of the most disgusting defenses ever at the University of Miami:

LB, MICHAEL BARROW

I've struggled with this pick because there's so many directions I want to go, but I feel that it's necessary to go offense here, and more particularly, with two already off the board, it's time to nab myself a top WR. A lot of options here, but one stands out above the rest.

With my next pick, I select REGGIE WAYNE, WIDE RECEIVER

Let's go down the list. 4 year starter. All-time leader in career receptions and yards at UM, and a 2011 UM Hall of Fame inductee. 5x Pro Bowl Selection 5 years straight from '06-'10, and a 3x all-pro selection. Led the NFL in receiving in 2007. A productive season or two from a hall of fame caliber career in the pros. Only one of four UM WR's with 20 or more TD's in his career.

He screams productivity and in a draft full of playmakers, he's the best all-around receiver left, though I was VERY close to selecting someone else. The contemporary name recognition of Wayne will help me garner votes in close games.

For the first bunch of rounds, I'm going best available player.

Ain't no reaching on Team Larry early on.

The two players I was going to take legitimately went in the two of the last three picks...so, I took the next two guys on my board. I had Stubbs even with another player...we'll see if he makes it to my next pick.

I will say this though, ain't nobody passing on me.
I was gonna take blades. Great pick. Best available.

Stubbs is interesting. I like it.

And dammit again, barrow and wayne were next on my board.

Barrow was as dominant a LB as i've seen in college. I get Morgan's decorations, but IMO Barrow>Morgan.

And Wayne is the all-time leading receiver at UM, and possibly a NfL HOFer as well. Great picks.

Is this an ongoing exercise on a free board or a private matter between chosen fans? You have the power to do this off-site in the privacy of the selected few, right? Someone, the OP I would say,put it out there for all to see, read and comment on. I mean ****, even the real NFL draft doesn't censor the list undrafted players.

geez focker, it's only a mock draft:confused:

it's just because we're all very competitive and anal and don't want someone to remember someone they would have otherwise forgotten.

This next pick is the first real struggle for me. Lot of directions to go in. Sampson Doyo was considered, but I think I can get him in a later round.

That said, Sands takes Kellen Winslow II. Two-time first team all-american (in his soph and junior years). Won Mackey Award as best TE in CFB. But for injuries, could well have been on road to HOF NFL career. As talented and unguardable an offensive player as I've seen at UM. Not sure it's 100% fair to say 'best available player,' because I'm skipping some pretty **** good guys here, but there's no one better on my board. It's a dead heat and I'm going with a unique offensive asset.

Wouldn't you want it that way if you were in the exercise? There's a ****load of discussion that can and has happened once the selections have already been made.

Ok, I lost out on Michael Irvin( my all-time favorite) and Im not losing out on another of my personal favorites- Edggerin James. who in my mind is the best all-around RB in UM history. There wasn't one thing he couldn't do at that position, run inside, block, catch, and he had unreal balance, footwork, toughness and could break long runs.

And just remember this date- Dec 5th, 1998( UCLA)

Honestly, I wouldn't mind. But hey that's just me. If it were for cashola, I'd be a little more cautious.
