All in on Mateer (Boomed and Sooned)

A key reason i dnt think anyone has mentioned that he’d be better off at Miami is his Brand Marketability. Not just cuz of the flash of miami, but because he coming in right after Cam. Everyone will be talking about him. Everyone will be talking about of #1 offense. Everyone will be comparing him to cam. So his brand will be out there constantly. Up to him to seize it.

At OU. Imo will barely be talked about. Theres no story.

I know some will meltdown if he doesnt come here. I guess now at 44 I'm just past that phase. Ill be bummed for a minute or two and then move on.

But I will question the reasoning. Because Money is probably equal or close enough. Their coach could be gone if they dont win 8-9 games. He may be special but they have nothing on offense to sell. No OL, No WR, No RB's, and the portal is already starting to thin out on the few elite talents. Now you are going after projections. A kid from a smaller school with big numbers, a 4 star Fr who did nothing in year one, was it lack of talent or opportunity. Cam Wards trajectory....the list could go on.

Yes we are homers and think we are the better situation all the time but in this case I truly cant see how if he is using his head we arent the choice. That being said if he picks them and it was with his heart I do respect it. Its not easy to do that...but I think he will be kicking himself in about 9-10 months.
 
OU was an embarrassment in the SEC. They joined with their rival who went to the conference championship game and they fell on their face going 6-6 only winning 2 conference games.
 
No matter how close he is to these coaches, the most savvy thing for him to do is to leave there without signing. It doesn’t matter he doesn’t have an agent, anyone can go on the internet and understand deal tension. He can easily make himself 25% more money by just visiting Miami, even if he wants to go to OU

People don’t always make savvy decisions. It’s that simple.
 
I know coaches are some of the sleaziest people in the game but what is their pitch right now to him? Based on what’s been posted the receivers they’re in it for look atrocious. How about the o line?

Would love to be a fly on the wall and hear the lies they’re tossing around

Geography and pleading. Other than that, I really don’t know. It’s not like Dawson is running some offense he hasn’t seen before and he’s seen the proof of concept with Cam being elite literally Game 1 on the road .
 
There will be so much pressure on Mateer today that I wouldnt want to be in his shoes. Pressure from OU. Pressure from his former Wash State coaches whos a$$e$ he probably has to save because OU gave them those jobs with the assumption they would deliver Mateer. And family pressure. Kid has alot on his plate today. Couldnt blame the kid if he caved into it. Everyone and their momma knows UM is the better option. Its not even a reasonable argument. But sometimes X factors come into play and just out-rule common sense. Lets hope for the best today.

Yeah I think the OU staff will literally be on their knees begging. They know what could happen if he leaves uncommitted

There is also the pressure of following behind Cam’s amazing season.

He won’t have that pressure in OU and he gets to “write his own story” instead of constantly being mentioned as the guy who followed Ward.

OU was **** last year. Played two diff QBs. There is no pressure there. The offensive supporting cast is not good and that line is bad so we have that in our favor.

Soooo...the WRs drove to Oklahoma City instead of Mateer driving to Norman? Because it's so far?

None of the bull**** stories that the hokey Okies are spinning make any sense.

It shouldn't be so hard to NOT fall for the banana in the tailpipe. Not saying that about any particular poster, just in general.
