Not to break up the fun, but why are we crapping on the WRs OU is courting while celebrating getting a commitment from a Jacksonville State player?

Where is Emory going to go? He has some film of basically just getting by at the P4 level. Would you rather be a back up at Miami or compete to be a starter on a crappier team at low P4 or group of 5?I am all for getting the best player for a key position. I happen to think we can win with Emory Williams (With a defense that can at least hold opponents under 35 points). What is baffling to me is why hasn't Emory walked in to the coaches office and said he was transferring out? If we sign Mateer, then we sign him. Hopefully its all good. Win with whomever. But with Emory at the helm, we did beat Clemson at Clemson. Should have beaten the "Vaunted" Seminoles (At That Time).
It just seems like a slap in the face. A vote of no confidence. This kid played hard for us and won over his team mates. It's understandable to bring in Cam Ward. But now you are bringing in another front line guy (so you think). As a organization, we have drastically f****d up QB recruiting. How does a top flight QB in high school look at us now knowing that each year, you are going to look at others.
If we are a trenches type team, then so be it. Win with great running backs and great offensive lines. Recruit heavily in those areas. Because the REALLY good QB prospects are going to look the other way when Miami offers.

Because that Jax State player is one of the top safeties in the portal, while the OU WR targets are not. Poyser is a big upgrade in safety for us. The OU WR targets are downgrades compared to the WRs they lost to the portal. Simple concept that has nothing to do with where our commit played previouslyNot to break up the fun, but why are we crapping on the WRs OU is courting while celebrating getting a commitment from a Jacksonville State player?

Has there been any new news since early yesterday? It feels like the news is 99/1 favoring OU lol what we have is Pete Nakos saying Miami also in it
My fault. Appreciate the correction. I still think it was a tall task beating a very good Clemson team with your first start.“But with Emory at the helm, we did beat Clemson at Clemson.”
We beat Clemson with Emory at home. It was not a road game.
I get that. But we’re celebrating getting a very productive G5 player, while simultaneously laughing at another school for likely hyping/selling the potential of landing productive G5 players.

Don’t disagree. He managed the game well. The defense won that game for us.My fault. Appreciate the correction. I still think it was a tall task beating a very good Clemson team with your first start.
and people say I am crazy when I say officiating has shaped this CFP for sureThe biggest thing in that game to me was the bogus PI on 4th down in the end zone that bailed out UGA.

Also, college recruiting has changed. It’s no longer smart business to invest significant NIL dollars into unproven QBs.
Doesn’t mean you don’t chase them but to invest in a QB to sit, it’s not smart business.
You can always portal in a young starter with experience or recruit a less expensive QB and develop him and bring in an experienced QB (like Miami is doing now).
Fax, hopefully it has the reverse effect. I know when somebody tries to sell me too hard on something and I feel pressured to buy it, I completely bunker down and won't buy it....even if I might have bought it on my own. There will be so much pressure on Mateer today that I wouldnt want to be in his shoes. Pressure from OU. Pressure from his former Wash State coaches whos a$$e$ he probably has to save because OU gave them those jobs with the assumption they would deliver Mateer. And family pressure. Kid has alot on his plate today. Couldnt blame the kid if he caved into it. Everyone and their momma knows UM is the better option. Its not even a reasonable argument. But sometimes X factors come into play and just out-rule common sense. Lets hope for the best today.

Mario has made it clear in his time here that if he has a chance to better the roster at a position he is not afraid to bring a guy in to compete for a spot. If we were just bringing in guys to bring them in, then sure, Emory should be given the fair shot at the job. This is not the case. In both years, we are attempting to bring in THE top QB in the portal. We're talking guys with NFL Day 1 possible potential. I actually like Emory but in no way shape or form should he stop you from pursuing a possible special talent at the most important spot on the team.I am all for getting the best player for a key position. Look, I understand your feelings about Emory. But qb is the most valuable position on the field. The fairest thing for Emory is to be open with him, tell him he will have a chance to compete for the job, but also realize that if he enters the transfer portal there’s not a chance he is pursued by any P5 team to walk in and become their starter. His best chance is to sit, continue to learn the system and take the job when it’s his turnI am all for getting the best player for a key position. Yeah, if you want to play Iowa football, for sure.the same logic that we won the Clemson game with Emory and a good defense and nearly beat a 13-0 FSU team.
would still apply next year with Emory and a good defense!
Still one of the most fun memories of a Miami football game for me.Yeah, if you want to play Iowa football, for sure.
Which could very well be never if we keep getting top portal qb's every year.Look, I understand your feelings about Emory. But qb is the most valuable position on the field.
