Guys, Mendoza has a million dollar offer on the table. Given all of our areas of need, assuming that would be 15-20% of budget. Do you want to pay that? I like Mendoza, I think he could be an nfl player at some point. But his wins above replacement is maybe .5 a game.

We really have a choice, go all in on defensive talent, overpay. Overpay for 1 wr and have a qb competition in the fall between Emory and Nickel. Or we wait on Ewers, who I think is super average. And maybe we get him, maybe we don’t…
I'm just dreaming of the days when we go 10-2 and we're like let's throw even more money at it and maybe we can fix the problems and go 12-0. Instead we have to choose which problem we want to fix. I thought I've read and heard that everyone was on board with having a elite program again. I want the No1 QB, WR, DT, CB, S.

Heres what I don’t understand: Ohio, Oregon, Ole Miss and Gerogia are all losing their qbs but portal players are still lining up to play for them. How do we know Moore is better than Emory? How do we know Sayin or Stockton are any better than Emory? I’m getting sick and tired of playing using “I’ll have to wait to see how it plays out for them” card. At the end of the day, Money always wins. If we drop serious cash to get a team around Emory, those players are going to have a hard time saying no to that money

I do agree, but those schools (aside from Ole Miss I’d say) have proven themselves to compete year in year out. And Lane has an offensive reputation.

Landing 5 star High School qb's means nothing if they portal out in a year or two which many do. What's the benefit of spending huge money to land a kid that will only portal out anyway.
Landing 5* High school QB recruits means you have a magnet attached to your recruiting class for that year. We've literally been on the other side of this phenomenon as well just as recently as last year with Jeremiah Smith. Let's say we had gotten Lagway to commit to us and he was the face of our class. Don't you think that is an easier sell to other top players than saying, well, we signed this 3* Kid you've never heard of.

If he leaves, its over. And OU knows it. They will do everything they can to make sure he doesnt get on a plane to Miami. Because they know they wont ever see him again if he does. The question is does Mateer listen to his agent? (Who you know is urging him to weigh all his options and hear us out and not just go with the first offer as any good agent would do) or does he cave into the peer pressure of playing for his ex coaches who you know will be begging and graveling for him to shut it down immediately and join them? Will be interesting to see.

Who's OSu's QB next season? A freshman who hasn't played a snap yet. Who's Georgia and Ole Miss's qb next season? How are those backs any better than Emory. OSU and Georgias offense really looked great this year haha. Mario and Dawson proved themselves....

Again, those teams are winning teams and will be in the playoffs every year and can pitch to kids don’t worry about it, look at our track record. Mario’s track record at Miami is hiring Gattis, having TVD with yipes as the QB and landing Ward. How much of this year was Ward? So you’re saying Mario and Dawson are so good that they can plug and play Emory and have the number 1 offense again?

This year Lane did less with more than we did. Had a playoff birth set and blew it against UF who we beat. We had a top offense in 2023 with a QB seeing ghosts and the number 1 offense this year. How many years does it take when we live in a recency bias world. Only at Miami.

Can Miami fire him for cause for saying "goof ball"? What a ******* nerd
Yeah seriously. In most sports, the head coach reports to the general manager not this silly way that UM and other college teams has it structured where the GM is under the head coach. What kind of stupid dynamic is this? Truthfully, Mario has too much control and authority and needs someone over him who is a more competent football person making decisions.

Reportedly doesn’t have an agent.

Lane was an absolute disappointment this year and anyone who says different is just on his dyck for some strange reason. This season was a complete failure for Ole Miss and Lane.

I mean I’ll never hate the kid for getting a bag

But you’d think we’d get a little hometown discount here especially with Mario being pals with his pops no?

They're throwing money at the problem. CFB as we knew it is gone.

The early schools to watch in this process are Oklahoma and Miami. The Sooners have a lot of things going for them: Location (Mateer grew up two hours away) and coaching staff (both Mateer's OC and QB coach from this season). Miami is selling what it just did for another former Washington State QB -- Cam Ward -- and the roster that would be around him. Other schools will look to get involved, but it's fair to say the Sooners are the early frontrunners. Don't expect this process to drag out, per sources.
