made big plays too. I dont get emory comparisons. emory looked like a statute with cement shoes last year. this kid made some runs when I have seen him play this year.

He’s very similar to Drew Allar. They have pretty much the same stats.

And Allar is being hyped up as a heisman candidate next season. Put Mendoza in the lab with SD and sign a couple of impact portal WRs and the kid would be cooking next season in my opinion. And the fact that he could be here for 2 years (at least as I understand it) is another positive.

I look at it like this, Mendoza is the same type of QB as Emory. Miami needs someone who will attract a WR1.

If not, we are a running team next year with a solid oline. We've had back to back good WR classes but completely UNPROVEN.

More concerning is our defense, but I don't have the time or energy to get upset today

Disagree. Mendoza with Miami OL (and Miami money) can attract 1-2 top WR, Emory not so much.

I think he means that wrs should be lining up to join this team, even with a young QB like Emory. Teams do it every year. Getting a new portal qb every single season isn't going to be sustainable. One of these years we're going to have to ride with a young/unexperienced guy. Obviously I want Mateer and pray Miami can pull through. However, if we don't end up getting him, Wrs would still be crazy not to play in this system and oline

We just had the number one scoring offense. Mario’s track record at Oregon speaks for itself. Look at the numbers our WRs put up under Dawson in 2023. Look at Dawsons offensive stats at his previous stops. Has Georgia really been an offensive machine the last few years? No.

And yet he continues to lose to unranked teams every year. Mario is what he is. Recruits are scared 2024 was a blip, like 2023 FSU. That obviously changes if Mateer locks in and Nickel is the goods like we think going forward.

Look, Emory is not be Ward .. but we don’t need him to be if we have a top 10 defense. There is no way we can get better than having the number 1 offensive unit like we had this year.. and that still did not help us get into the playoffs … defense wins championships!

Notice how both of your answers had nothing to do with the performance of Emory. So my point is proven. It's a terrible excuse. If Mateer doesn't work out, we throw money at kids and still build a good roster

Guys, Mendoza has a million dollar offer on the table. Given all of our areas of need, assuming that would be 15-20% of budget. Do you want to pay that? I like Mendoza, I think he could be an nfl player at some point. But his wins above replacement is maybe .5 a game.

We really have a choice, go all in on defensive talent, overpay. Overpay for 1 wr and have a qb competition in the fall between Emory and Nickel. Or we wait on Ewers, who I think is super average. And maybe we get him, maybe we don’t…
