Haha only with the Miami fan base would somebody get blasted for being optimistic. Better then all you fools bashing the program before the season ****ing starts.

Haha that's funny stuff.

The problem is that the season hasn't even started and your already complaining. It's a new season and another opportunity for the defense to prove itself. I'm gunna roll with that til I have reason to think otherwise. If your not gunna be optimistic before the season even starts then when will you be?

There's plenty of "reasons to think otherwise." You just choose to ignore them and get upset when others don't.

It works both ways bud, there's plenty of reasons to be positive that your ignoring. I ask again, when will you allow your mopey self to actually feel good about the team? Cause honestly, if you won't feel good about a 9 win team returning 85% of its starters I'm not sure whats gunna do it for ya.

Not really. The last two defenses have been some of the worst in school history and in the country. Returning a bunch of starters from a horrific defense isn't exactly encouraging. Maybe you should stop trying to tell other fans what they should "feel?" If you want to be a pie in the sky optimist, that's okay. Just don't get upset when other people aren't because they actually consider the play on the field.

You don't know how to read, I asked you a question, not tell you how you should feel. What's good enough for you? What does the team need to do for you to stop your whining?

It's "whining" to point out that the team has had one of the worst defenses in the country for 2 years now. Got it. And yes, you're telling me when to be optimistic. Now, you can either stop complaining about other posters or you can actually engage in some football discussion--but based on your stance towards the team, I'm not sure you're capable outside of "hoo-rah go canes!!11!"

What does any team need to do to make fans happy? Win on the field and dominate against **** poor teams. The bar isn't that high. No one is calling for NC's, but if you can't see the issues staring you in the face that talent alone won't help, you should drop out of this convo now.

We can't discuss the team's actual on field performance because when you point out how god-awful it has been, it is considered whining.

Right, I'll take your refusal to answer any of my questions as my cue to be done with you.

Yeah, I was pretty certain that you wanted to evaluate my emotions about the team instead of actually discussing the team, because you can't add any substance or good football discussion. Instead you want to cry because other posters aren't pie in the sky optimists who ignore all data. Not surprising.

I agree, the defense has major issues that NEED to be fixed. I'm not ignoring that and I want D'onofrio to be fired asap. There's still so many unknowns tho, what if wyche turns out to be real legit? The light could just go off for somebody like Tracy Howard and he gets 10 ints. So many things could happen that to already assume the defense or team is going down the toilet is ignorant imo.

Trust me, I see the terrible defense to, but if we as fans won't step up and have hope for our team then who will?

I really don't know why everyone is thinking we are going to have a terrible season. Looking at our schedule:
Wk1) We probably lose to Louisville, considering RW won't be back by then. But still, they lost a lot including HC and Qb, so they aren't close to the team they were last year.
Wk4) I think RW will be back by this game, and we will definitely be in it. I think this will be a close game, and thankfully it isn't in the Winter. Still, I'd give the Huskers an advantage, but I don't think they can stop our Running Game.
Wk5)We got Duke at home, This should be a good game. They don't have Brandon Connette anymore, so that's good, because i don't think we stopped him once last year. Their top rusher from last year is also suspended all season. We win this game, and Duke only loses to us, UNC and VT.
Wk9)Vtech. No offense, but a **** good Defense. I think we will get a decent amount of points. If our D is as bad as it was last year vs them, they win. Let's see if we improve. I think we do, especially our Dline, plus we are just coming off a bye. I think we win.
Wk10)UNC is going to be hard to beat. I'd give them the slight advantage.
Wl12) Gotta like where these byes are located. But we are playing FSU, and unless Winston is hurt, they win.
Were unlucky we drew Louisville along with FSU, but realistically I only see 3 conference losses, putting us at 9-4 or 10-3 depending on the Nebraska game.

An anvil must have dropped on OP's head. That 00 team was one of the most stacked teams off all time.

Wait, did I read here that we probably lose to UL BECAUSE Williams won't be back yet? What the duece? "We lost Williams". I KNEW that was going to be an excuse.

If Williams DOES play against UL, the excuse will be "We lost Morris to graduation".

Williams gets hurt and all of a sudden this is why we will have no QB next year. Nope. We don't have a QB next year WITH Williams.

I can't take the DBC like, fantasy optimism anymore! It's just insanity!

Not saying Williams is the sole reason we wouldn't win. But I also don't think Olsen is ready which means Heaps would be the starter. I see Williams as being the best QB to help us win this season. Now Next year it will be a competition between Olsen and Kaaya. but until then Williams is our best option, and not having our best option at the most important position on the field certainly doesn't help. To be honest, I think our defense steps up and we upset Louisville, regardless of who the QB is.

I have no problem with your reasoning.

I just see UL continuing with the throat slashing and taunting us by flashing the U from kickoff on on Labor Day. They KNOW we are weak. I doubt Petrino has the team less than prepared, and as history has proven, ANYONE and EVERYONE outcoaches Golden on gameday.

If Mike London can figure out how to get his sorry ***, 2-10 team to put up 500 yds on us three years straight, Petrino sholuld be able to get 1,000.

If Williams was the best we had going into 2014, we were fin anyway.

If Olsen isn't ready, on a team with ZERO D1 QB talent, he will never be ready. The fact that he was light years behind Williams says everything I need to know. He is a dud. Kaaya in 2015 is the last hope for this program.

This program is maybe 1 year away from a distant second in the Coastal, no more.

Williams only played against the absolute worst competition in football (Savanah St, FAU, USF) and he showed he could hand the ball off (puts him above Kyle Wright), and fall backwards, lofting a soft duck no farther than 10 yards upfield.

If he was just bad, he would have started over Morris.

Wow your really pessimistic about this season aren't you. Here's a little somthing to think about though, when you have Duke Johnson and good receivers like we do, you don't need a top flight QB. Ryan Williams IMO, is like Alex Smith. He won't lose us any games, and honestly that is what we need, as long as he takes a good amount of deep shots to Dorsett and Coley... But the real problem is our defense not QB. I don't think there's any doubt that our DT situation is better than it was last year. I think our DE's have improved, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Mccord, AQM, and Chad can do. Plus, I think our DB's will take a major step forward, and Perryman will be a 1st round pick. So, in my opinion there is a lot to be excited about, and I'm confident we will win 9 games this year, maybe 10.

How do you know if he never got solid playing time. How does anyone know what we have in Williams when golden refused to put him in any games last year while Morris was hurt and erratic? No one really knows what we have in Williams. But golden had so little faith in Williams that he refused to play him over a one legged Morris. Yet now he's being crowned as the savior of the season. SMH.

No one is crowning him the savior of the season. The savior of the season is Duke Johnson. As long as we have him, I think our offense will be fine. You guys are acting like Golden has shown he would pull someone for playing bad. I mean, all we do is **** talk the defense, but what has Golden done? he didn't replace our DC did he? eventhough any other Defensive scheme would have been better. Yet you guys are just ignoring every sign that Golden wouldn't bench Morris regardless of if Ryan Williams would have been better by the end of the season.

We had Duke Johnson and BETTER recievers last year, and we got blown out, repeatedly, by every above average team we played. We couldn't create ANY noticeable distance over BAD, BAD ACC teams like UNC, WF and GT, so don't say the Dorsett, Duke, Coley injuries hurt us. We were exposed long before that.

The reason they got hurt was because they were getting crushed every play. ****, Savanah St. and FAU beat us up like we were women who forgot to put teh Miracle Whip on the sammich.

I will be VERY surprised if we can win 7 games next season. And if we do, it still means Golden should be tarred and feathered.

So we're supposed to be optimistic about the season when we have a coach who doesn't play the best players? LOL!

We have a coach - two actually - that still get the X's and O's confused, intermingled, and during a game - gets that glazed look on his face because the game is moving way too fast for these MAC mindsets. So we don't get any adjustments either.

I have the greatest faith in Golden. To win six, maybe seven games.
