1 year away

I have no problem with your reasoning.

I just see UL continuing with the throat slashing and taunting us by flashing the U from kickoff on on Labor Day. They KNOW we are weak. I doubt Petrino has the team less than prepared, and as history has proven, ANYONE and EVERYONE outcoaches Golden on gameday.

If Mike London can figure out how to get his sorry ***, 2-10 team to put up 500 yds on us three years straight, Petrino sholuld be able to get 1,000.

If Williams was the best we had going into 2014, we were fin anyway.

If Olsen isn't ready, on a team with ZERO D1 QB talent, he will never be ready. The fact that he was light years behind Williams says everything I need to know. He is a dud. Kaaya in 2015 is the last hope for this program.

This program is maybe 1 year away from a distant second in the Coastal, no more.

Wow your really pessimistic about this season aren't you. Here's a little somthing to think about though, when you have Duke Johnson and good receivers like we do, you don't need a top flight QB. Ryan Williams IMO, is like Alex Smith. He won't lose us any games, and honestly that is what we need, as long as he takes a good amount of deep shots to Dorsett and Coley... But the real problem is our defense not QB. I don't think there's any doubt that our DT situation is better than it was last year. I think our DE's have improved, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Mccord, AQM, and Chad can do. Plus, I think our DB's will take a major step forward, and Perryman will be a 1st round pick. So, in my opinion there is a lot to be excited about, and I'm confident we will win 9 games this year, maybe 10.
How do you know if he never got solid playing time. How does anyone know what we have in Williams when golden refused to put him in any games last year while Morris was hurt and erratic? No one really knows what we have in Williams. But golden had so little faith in Williams that he refused to play him over a one legged Morris. Yet now he's being crowned as the savior of the season. SMH.

No one is crowning him the savior of the season. The savior of the season is Duke Johnson. As long as we have him, I think our offense will be fine. You guys are acting like Golden has shown he would pull someone for playing bad. I mean, all we do is **** talk the defense, but what has Golden done? he didn't replace our DC did he? eventhough any other Defensive scheme would have been better. Yet you guys are just ignoring every sign that Golden wouldn't bench Morris regardless of if Ryan Williams would have been better by the end of the season.

So we're supposed to be optimistic about the season when we have a coach who doesn't play the best players? LOL!

Well, Morris had already locked in his starting spot. It would be the same as if Duke Johnson doesn't have a good year. Do you think Duke is going to get benched if he is able to play? No he won't, because we know what he can and has done.
I'm not optimistic out of blind faith though. I'm optimistic because I think our Offense WILL be better than it was last year, the main reasons being that RW will play better than Morris did and we will hopefully be healthy all year. Also I'm optimistic our defense will improve, not that it will be that that good or anything, just that it will improve. I see what we lost, which was nothing (except for Highsmith who got way to much PT), and then I see what was gained on the DLine. I also am optimistic that the players improved during the off-season. I see no reason Our team isn't going to be better than it was last year. That is why I'm optimistic. I'd say the only reason we shouldn't win the Coastal is because us and Virginia have the hardest crossover schedule (UL and FSU), while VTech plays BC and WF and Duke plays Syracuse and WF. So while we likely lose both our crossover games they win both and have a 2 game advantage during the round robbin.

2015 season we will win it all.......this year feels like 2000 all over again

So what the OP is saying is...We Bak, gotta love his optimism

Really don't know where the inferiority complex is from but we are The U the cloud is gone and the storm is developing 1 year away Don't Believe me just watch......solid class 2014, top 5 in 15 and the #1 class in 2016...... But these inferior cautious fans say I'm delusional LMAO

We haven't been the "U" for over 10+ years you dumb ****. You're not delusional, you would have to at least have a brain to be delusional, you're a simple **** that just watched 30/30 and haven't a freaking clue what actually made us the "U". Let me clue you in, it wasn't some lame staff that doesn't even understand basic defensive concepts with the talent we have. We have had the 2 worst defenses in school history and you are spouting off that we are 1 year away. Seriously stop embarrassing yourself.

And yes, you're being optimistic based on blind faith. You're claiming that RW is gonna be better than Morris--there's no empirical evidence to back that up.

I mean I'd say he does play the best players most of the time. Look at the depth chart, I would say the best players are starting. Now the real question is if he will make a change during the year. That's where I don't have confidence in Golden. But I think as long as the players play like they have shown they have been able to we will be fine. I also believe it is reasonable to expect most players to have improved over last year. I mean, don't you expect our players to show improvement, especially the ones that were freshman/sophmores last year?
And I'm not placing blind faith in RW. Do I think he will be better than Morris was last year? yes. Do I think he is better than Morris? No. In 2012, RW had 75% Completion%, 6.9 ypa, and a 149 QBR. Last year he had 68%, 11.5ypa, and 190 QBR. Morris had under 60%, between 8-9 Ypa, and 138-145 QBR the past 2 years. So I expect above a 60% completion%, and about 8ypa from RW this year. Really, I could care less about how many passing yards he has, as long as he can convert on 3rd downs, and score TD's a high % of time we get to our opponents 30.

I literally said it all. RW is not more talented than Morris. But I think he will play better than Morris did last year. I then said I expected RW to have at least a 60% Completion% and about 8 or more ypa. And I said I think Golden will start the most talented players, and I'm confident in that. What I'm not confident about is Golden benching someone (or reducing their PT) DURING the season if they aren't playing well, Like one of our Safeties, Running backs, Tight ends....

Weownfsu doesnt understand anything that relates to any success for The U. Start saying somebody played efficiently last year and it scrambles his head lol.

Saying somebody played efficiently in garbage time against horrid teams isn't worth jack ****.

Nice. Or this...''UM Football, where every year message boaders blow it up by saying this year feels just like 19xx or 20xx...right before we wrecked CFB for 3 years 'cause I just know it...even though hindsight is 20 20 and even in 19xx we weren't sure what was gonna happen."

(Sick of everytime I hear that yearly comparison)

Playing the "BEST" players?

The "best' is a subjective concept.

Golden's idea of 'best' is apparently lopsided, skweed, and I think he's outta his mind.

How in Hades can Golden have the 89th defense in the nation, stick to his **** poor decision making, saying the defense is 'trending up,' at the end of last season say that his D Coordinator and defensive scheme needs "continuity," and then be trusted to play the "best" players?

One has to be outta their gourd.

How much does it matter if he plays the best players if it's Donofrio's scheme? Do you think we have enough talent to overcome this coaching? I think best case scenario on defense we still don't make top 40. But I think that our Offense can step up enough to get us 9-10 wins. Like I've been saying, I don't think were 1 yr away from winning the Coastal, because I think we are winning it this year. But I'm calling a Nation Championship in 2018 on a schedule where we have to play LSU, Rutgers, and FSU.

If Golden and D'Onofrio stay, we're not winning Coastal even if they stay until 2020 when his contract is up.

They have a rich, rich gold mine here in Miami.

But they're mining copper.

Everyone else is getting Miami speed, and we're getting Penn State pokey.

The best of players can't overcome **** poor coaching. Schemes. Philosophy.

If Golden had the 2001 team, we'd have won nine.

1. We get it, you dont like Golden or D'onofrio and were gunna suck til they leave.
2. We can agree on that
3. Duke Johnson, Stacy Coley, Tracy Howard, and Chad Thomas disagree
4. See #3
5. Larry Coker?

I said this in a thread from like a month ago, but a lot of Elite talent can overcome bad coaching (2001), But it is soo much easier for good/great coaching to overcome mediocre talent.
We have elite talent in some spots, but not nearly enough on Defense to overcome Onofrio. Only FSU has more overall talent than us in the ACC.

6. Yeah well thats just like, your opinion man

01 wasn't bad coaching. Only a tard with an agenda would say such a thing.

I'd take Coker/Shannon over this staff all day long...
