How do you know if he never got solid playing time. How does anyone know what we have in Williams when golden refused to put him in any games last year while Morris was hurt and erratic? No one really knows what we have in Williams. But golden had so little faith in Williams that he refused to play him over a one legged Morris. Yet now he's being crowned as the savior of the season. SMH.I have no problem with your reasoning.
I just see UL continuing with the throat slashing and taunting us by flashing the U from kickoff on on Labor Day. They KNOW we are weak. I doubt Petrino has the team less than prepared, and as history has proven, ANYONE and EVERYONE outcoaches Golden on gameday.
If Mike London can figure out how to get his sorry ***, 2-10 team to put up 500 yds on us three years straight, Petrino sholuld be able to get 1,000.
If Williams was the best we had going into 2014, we were fin anyway.
If Olsen isn't ready, on a team with ZERO D1 QB talent, he will never be ready. The fact that he was light years behind Williams says everything I need to know. He is a dud. Kaaya in 2015 is the last hope for this program.
This program is maybe 1 year away from a distant second in the Coastal, no more.
Wow your really pessimistic about this season aren't you. Here's a little somthing to think about though, when you have Duke Johnson and good receivers like we do, you don't need a top flight QB. Ryan Williams IMO, is like Alex Smith. He won't lose us any games, and honestly that is what we need, as long as he takes a good amount of deep shots to Dorsett and Coley... But the real problem is our defense not QB. I don't think there's any doubt that our DT situation is better than it was last year. I think our DE's have improved, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Mccord, AQM, and Chad can do. Plus, I think our DB's will take a major step forward, and Perryman will be a 1st round pick. So, in my opinion there is a lot to be excited about, and I'm confident we will win 9 games this year, maybe 10.
No one is crowning him the savior of the season. The savior of the season is Duke Johnson. As long as we have him, I think our offense will be fine. You guys are acting like Golden has shown he would pull someone for playing bad. I mean, all we do is **** talk the defense, but what has Golden done? he didn't replace our DC did he? eventhough any other Defensive scheme would have been better. Yet you guys are just ignoring every sign that Golden wouldn't bench Morris regardless of if Ryan Williams would have been better by the end of the season.
So we're supposed to be optimistic about the season when we have a coach who doesn't play the best players? LOL!
Well, Morris had already locked in his starting spot. It would be the same as if Duke Johnson doesn't have a good year. Do you think Duke is going to get benched if he is able to play? No he won't, because we know what he can and has done.
I'm not optimistic out of blind faith though. I'm optimistic because I think our Offense WILL be better than it was last year, the main reasons being that RW will play better than Morris did and we will hopefully be healthy all year. Also I'm optimistic our defense will improve, not that it will be that that good or anything, just that it will improve. I see what we lost, which was nothing (except for Highsmith who got way to much PT), and then I see what was gained on the DLine. I also am optimistic that the players improved during the off-season. I see no reason Our team isn't going to be better than it was last year. That is why I'm optimistic. I'd say the only reason we shouldn't win the Coastal is because us and Virginia have the hardest crossover schedule (UL and FSU), while VTech plays BC and WF and Duke plays Syracuse and WF. So while we likely lose both our crossover games they win both and have a 2 game advantage during the round robbin.
