Zipperer

Thats the ONLY way i see him. He's like 6'1 235 and a good amount of bad weight. He has GLUE HANDS though..and rac ability better than Zip and Wydermeyer. I can see him being FB back up or in a Choc Gray role honestly. He's a prototypical Hback. Quadtrine Hill type
Quatrine Hill was what I thought of when I saw his tape.

its that or pitt on the schedule. if canes continue winning till the duke game, HRS will still be a fun environment.
Just 2 more games before Duke. At Virginia, Bye, at Boston College. Go into Duke 7-1 nearing a top 10 ranking.

When is the TE from TX visiting? Idk much about him. Just that he has pretty good size for a TE.

Wydemeyer is on the same level as the other guys we’re recruiting. He’s that good.

Like I’ve sajd , give me any combination of the two.
I'd take him all day over Hodges. Size, high points the ball, willing to block, can definitely stretch down the seem. He has IMO the upside to be better then Zip by their junior year

Thank you. Interesting both TE targets will be there same day.
I’d take both of them to go with Hodges. We have zero TE depth outside of the two headed monster. We need to completely overhaul our TE room and last year was an elite start.

Think Polendey leaves after this year. I’ve been saying it for a while. I don’t think they should take 3 TE’s but if someone leaves (Polendey or Irvin) then I would be ok with 3 coming.

irvin def isn't leaving (doubt his dad would ever let him). i do think it'd be polendey.

he doesnt need to leave he is a blocking te here and our only one at that. Brevin has gotten better throughout the year though. Polendy could legit stay here and by his time and get a shot at an nfl camp just by being a um te.

Swoope the former basketball player is an nfl te that is actually producing.

Swoope is an athletic freak. Polendey will get buried on the depth chart. Brevin and Mallory passed him up in a matter of days which was expected but still. Gonna be hard to find him snaps when there are 5-6 other tight ends here.

I seriously think you didnt watch Wydermeyers film. "inline te" is Polendy. A te is a Te. Wydermeyer is all of it (balanced te). Watch his film ....he is split out wide and doing everything Zipp does....just 2-3 inches taller. He's doing all of the stuff are te's do currently in his hs offense based off of his jr film. Hes a match up problem in single coverage bruv.
Looking at the nfl there isnt a dearth of 6'2 guys at TE...and currently UM te's are still the best so i think were doing ok sending our guys that way.

That being said...i'm obviously not a big fan of Hodges. I'm a big fan of Zipp and Wydermeyer. You like Hodges more so than Wydermeyer?.

The in-line comment was quoting you directly. I do think Hodges is a better receiving talent than Wydermeyer although neither is a guy I trust yet to consistently win 1on1 matchups the way Jordan, Mallory, or Zipperer can with their superior athleticism. Hodges has innate receiving ability that should be effective against zone defense - think Nick O'Leary.

There isn't an argument to be won here, we simply disagree to an extent about these evaluations. I will offer my evaluation of Wydermyer's film since you questioned me:

-somewhat, stiff, hunched, robotic athlete
-big frame with good build-up speed
-very undeveloped lower body, lacks a strong or powerful base which shows up as a blocker, runner and on contested throws
-tends to bend at the waist and hunch over when he has to drive block
-but he's an effective blocker especially in space with good inside hand position and the ability to redirect and block moving targets
-most effective sitting in zones and running through open spaces as a receiver
-able to make efficient inside cuts at speed but lacks shake/wiggle as a route-runner. Not a double-move guy
-catches the ball cleanly with his hands
-shows some ability to adjust to the ball in the air although stiffness limits his body control and catch radius
-lacks power and elusiveness after the catch. Catch and fall type

I dont think we disagree much at all. Were in on some real good te targets.
I like Wydermeyer more than Hodges and feel like him and Zipperer are comparable in the pass game.

Hodges vs. Wydermyer is apples and oranges. Both are good football players. Thanks for sharing new film. I edited my previous post with evaluation notes btw.
