Last year was hideous…And it's on no one but CMC to dig himself out.

There is a small element of it that was culture shock imo….I think there were some **** poor performances and attitudes from upperclassmen, but hey he could have managed it better. Gattis is on him as well…Don't get me wrong, SOMEONE was going to give Josh Gattis a big contract after the Michigan offensive explosion…And the hope is that he LEARNED from a good offensive mind in Harbaugh... but you have to be good enough to see through him and it not be you. It's alarming that CMC fell for it.

It's also alarming in today's day and age of offensive football when you hire an OC that NEEDS a QB coach as well. It was weird to me at the time, and I try not to play couch coach…But how did the think that was necessary or healthy if you are hiring a capable OC?

I don’t think it was culture shock as much as the staff not fitting together. I would have expected a larger exodus in the portal if that was the case. We didn’t lose many guys that we really wanted to keep.

I think the team accepted Mario for the most part. The biggest problem was coaching egos that killed trust. We never gelled and couldn’t sustain momentum.

Gattis’ inexperience and lack of accountability really torpedoed this team and it spilled over into every aspect. The rebuild was bigger than he expected and instead of embracing it and adjusting to the talent on hand, he allowed his ego to create a toxic environment that killed the offensive players’ confidence. He doesn’t have the chops we needed in the passing game and was too rigid and acrimonious.

There were other issues, but he was the biggest.

We didn’t look like we did because of talent or because the team turned on Mario. I have been on a talented team that had many of the same issues. Injuries, bad play calling, finger pointing. I knew what the problem was after MTSU. The only difference was it wasn’t because of a bad leader at head coach. It was due to poor fits at the coordinators and little cohesion with the position coaches.

By seasons end, nobody believed in anything we were doing. It’s remarkable how Mario held the team together in the off-season. His leadership ability is underrated. He has flaws in his game day coaching, but he can win big with the right coordinators because he is a leader of men.

The good thing about last year’s melt down is it made him reevaluate his philosophy. He saw how bad can get if he is stubborn clinging to an outdated, complicated passing philosophy. The early returns with Dawson look promising so far and I believe success will influence his coaching searches in the future. Losing that battle could help us win the war. An aggressive, quick hitting passing game to go with the physical run he loves is Miami football. Get the ball out of the quarterback’s hand quick and attack the entire field. Give him easy reads and keep him clean. Pair that with what we know he can do in the run game and we wil be in the playoff hunt.

Oh trust me, Mario is eons more seasoned recruiting than those two buffoons. But these excuses sound eerily similar to what we’ve heard in the past…

“We’ll just flip him later”

“It’s bags bro. We aren’t willing to engage in immediate payment”

“His offer list has nobody other than Central Connecticut University of the Blind, but trust the evals. The offers will start rolling in.”

“Miami felt good here.”

“Kids are afraid of the competition at certain positions.”

“We had to overhaul the roster and culture.”

“Those kids are only going there for money, give me kids that want to be Canes.”

Now I’m not saying all of these are a direct indictment on the current staff. There’s some truth about roster overhauling etc., but I’m merely saying all of these comments (and more) have been said previously under the Manny, Golden, Richt, Shannon regimes. It’s put up or shut up time, in a lot of areas.

We have money? Good, because the talent pool to pick out of has but a few uncommitted sharks left. Patterson and Stone deserve every penny. You’d be amazed what landing two bonafide studs can do to generate momentum and get kids talking about Miami again.

We have money right? I guarantee you FSU is not paying some ridiculous sum of money for a brief commitment. They’re paying because they think they have a legit shot of holding onto him, just like any other school would and does.

Pay the man his money and lock it up.
The crazy thing is I remember hearing all of that before we pulled in the #7 class too. 🤷‍♂️

No you didn’t. You know why? Because we had a top 7 class by the second week of July. But I guess that doesn’t matter, just like this year’s flop of a class (thus far) doesn’t matter to some ignorant people on here. We should not care about recruiting til December.

We’re flipping everyone!!!

We’re closer to Lightfoot flipping than anything if we don’t land an interior prospect…soon. Ohio St has been on his a$$. Everyone and their mother knows the deal. But you know what? I’m just spewing obviously because why would he want to flip if signing day is December? Since recruiting now doesn’t matter…right?

Where exactly are you getting the Lighfoot is flipping soon intel from ?

I didn’t say it was imminent, but along with a nice NIL deal, he was promised to play alongside fellow beasts. That’s what he wants first and foremost. If we don’t fulfill our end of the bargain, good chance he flips to O$U. That’s who they’ve zoned in on after missing on Stewart. Playing alongside 5-stars Scott and Houston, vs. a shaky Artavius Jones and Daylen Russell…heck if I can trust a Chicago kid not to seriously entertain that offer.

I think plenty of others that y’all consider reputable would regurgitate similar viewpoints if we don’t get our ish together. While he may not flip soon, we do need to land someone viable on the interior relatively quickly if we want to keep selling him on playing next to a stud.

So no direct Intel you're inferring not landing a DT whale = eventual flip. And I'm sure if he committed to us in the first place we offered him something attractive NIL wise. But of course going 5-7 again would risk virtually everyone of high caliber so to me that's the most important element.

I’m not going to reveal sources. I’ll just say it’s a combo of a booster I talked to yesterday + reputable people on here that have mentioned this in the past. You can draw your own conclusions for who’s reputable on here or not.

Nothing is certain in recruiting obviously, things change by the hour…but if there’s cause for concern…we should do everything in order to ensure our best players stick.

Contrary to belief on here, there are indeed repercussions from consistently whiffing at particular positions. Even before December.

After reading that On3 article, ZP gotta commit to us. Miss me with the “he’ll be here on signing day”… it’s has to happen now, and before anyone brings up Fletcher.. Just remember Miami slow played him, while ZP has been a priority.. far different situations.

To me it seems like if the money is anywhere close to equal he’s a cane… no other way around it & if the money ain’t close to equal, well we got bigger problems.

I posted during the season there was zero chemistry with this staff. Tbh a lot of them didn’t even like each other. Just look at the sidelines a lot of the games. It was a morgue. Believe it or not players feed off the energy . Good or bad. Last year it was easy to quit when coaches weren’t coaching for each other and players were not playing for each other. As a whole it was beyond toxic and the product showed. When this staff was hired I said it was a complete 180 with personalities and bringing energy. A much more likable group. I can guarantee the sideline looks dramatically different.

That’s insanity. Most NFL undrafted free agents don’t even get signing bonus above $20k and high schoolers who haven’t played a down of their senior year are getting that much to just publicly commit to a school? The logic doesn’t add up. Not saying you’re wrong, but what the heck is going on.
NFL contracts are made by businessmen who will only pay a player fair market value. These boosters who are throwing around this money to recruits are basically just fanboys with lots of money. But the market will correct itself there too. Especially in FSU's case. All these high paid recruits wont live up to the lofty expectations, we see it all the time. Norvell will bring in transfers that will play over these high paid recruits. When this happens you will see less and less bags getting thrown around.
