Means we’re a failed state haha
I get what you’re getting at, I just wasn’t even contemplating the thought of expecting anything political to pop up in this discussion…. in any way, shape, or form…..like there’s no way someone could compare this to….. anything.,.. damnit!!! 😂🤣😂. Should have seen it coming. This board never ceases to amaze me. I guess its one if the many reasons I keep coming back.

December rolls around

“Hey kid, here’s another x amount of money to stick”.

C’mon now. Land him now or it’s an L. Flipping requires more work and optically it would be a massive loss for Miami/win for FSU.

The mental gymnastics and passes we’re creating for Mario is almost cult-ish. If this was Manny or Golden, y’all would be going bezerk losing an elite kid that’s a shoe-in, ESPECIALLY to F$U. Norvell is a **** recruiter. We’ve already lowered the expectations on the field to 8 wins, but recruiting under Mario?? Absolutely not. This beta **** stops now.

Land. The. Studs.
That was supposedly the story with Kinsler and Andy Jean.

Alright had to double check (my work & my memory), went through Zaquan's reported visits since Dec 2021:

I agree but also same time Golden and Manny never showed any reason to have any faith, ever
Oh trust me, Mario is eons more seasoned recruiting than those two buffoons. But these excuses sound eerily similar to what we’ve heard in the past…

“We’ll just flip him later”

“It’s bags bro. We aren’t willing to engage in immediate payment”

“His offer list has nobody other than Central Connecticut University of the Blind, but trust the evals. The offers will start rolling in.”

“Miami felt good here.”

“Kids are afraid of the competition at certain positions.”

“We had to overhaul the roster and culture.”

“Those kids are only going there for money, give me kids that want to be Canes.”

Now I’m not saying all of these are a direct indictment on the current staff. There’s some truth about roster overhauling etc., but I’m merely saying all of these comments (and more) have been said previously under the Manny, Golden, Richt, Shannon regimes. It’s put up or shut up time, in a lot of areas.

We have money? Good, because the talent pool to pick out of has but a few uncommitted sharks left. Patterson and Stone deserve every penny. You’d be amazed what landing two bonafide studs can do to generate momentum and get kids talking about Miami again.

We have money right? I guarantee you FSU is not paying some ridiculous sum of money for a brief commitment. They’re paying because they think they have a legit shot of holding onto him, just like any other school would and does.

Pay the man his money and lock it up.

I actually hate when I pick one line of a grander point and talk about it 😂

Your entire point was legit so I didn’t mean to be that guy to just be like hey here’s 3 words that I wanna push back on

Mario gets more leeway for sure but I think that’s your point, at what time are we just giving him too much leeway. We will have the answers in December and February on a lot of these questions but moving the goal posts is always a rough exercise

you’re as legit as they come so wasn’t meant to bash you at all. I’m just tired of the spin zone segments on here, we sound exactly like UF fans last cycle. I’ve probably said at one point something similar.

“Oh they’re only there for money. Wait til they collapse on the field and everyone bolts.”

Now it’s ridiculously embarrassing to read posters chalk up losing a recruit as nothing, and sheep just follow along like it’s some gospel.

Today matters just as much as December. Landing the initial commitment matters. Of course you can flip guys later, and maybe our plan is one that involves hoping we go 9-3 or 10-2, get more boosters involved now that there’s some proof we can win under Mario, and then capitalizing on that momentum by offering fat NIL to flip guys…

But that’s a lot of risk. It would be a foolish plan imo. It’s a lot easier to hold onto a commit than get him to jump ship, but I’m not the one with the money so in the end who cares what I think.

Spot on

You’re doing the heavy lifting on this board this summer my man

Addae needs to be on notice if he can’t land this kid

The CB class is embarrassing and we have no safety depth.

With Guidry having a DB coach background I could see us moving on from Addae after this year if the recruiting class sucks and the play on the field is a let down again at CB

Might as well get a stud recruiter in here and pair him with Guidry to coach up DBs
Agreed, I was ready to move on this offseason… but anyone who gets DJ Ivey drafted at least gets one more year 😂

we crushed golden and Manny for better seasons than what Mario put up last year and the Mario bros got a million excuses. recruiting I do trust Mario but I do think this year w NIL in full swing for everyone and more seasoned, elite recruiters don't matter anymore. winning is the swaying factor and we dont win and we haven't developed talent like we had in the past. its not a shock that we can land elite edge kids like candy but struggle elsewhere. our last 2 FRPs are edge guys.

Bingo. If only it were that low.
That’s insanity. Most NFL undrafted free agents don’t even get signing bonus above $20k and high schoolers who haven’t played a down of their senior year are getting that much to just publicly commit to a school? The logic doesn’t add up. Not saying you’re wrong, but what the heck is going on.

This is all good conversations but many people were against Mario until he showed actual success on the field with Oregon, something Golden and Manny never did, so he bought himself more goodwill obviously

But no one is ok with what happened last year

Programs that are serious about winning will do whatever is necessary to ensure they not only achieve their goals, but maintain that pedigree of success for however long possible.

FSU is simply engaging in behavior that plenty of others have regularly operated on for decades. Miami is too smart for that though, I’m sure the NCAA will bring the hammer down on all of them soon.

The SEC motto of it just means more us corny but it’s true. If Miami wants to truly compete with the elites they have to commit to playing the same game as the competition. Until then UM will continue to be second rate.

Obviously this all changes if we land Stone and Patterson on Saturday, but if we are being real, it’s worse than a Manny and Golden class AS OF RIGHT NOW relatively speaking. Manny and Golden (both incompetent to be clear) never had the resources that are available to Mario.

My money is still on Mario to turn this class around, but the clock is ticking.

That's the market price.

Patterson spoke to ON3 today:

“It comes down to now where I feel I can make the biggest impact at the quickest. I want to get on the field. All five schools have great academics and I like what they do on the field as a team, but playing early, the depth charts and the impact I can have on the program are things I am focused on.

“The home feeling is the same at each of these schools, so it is one or two things that will help me commit to one of them.”

“My plan all along was to take five official visits, but I don’t know exactly what the future will bring. I will go into those visits committed now, so I might want to settle down a little and only take two or three, but I haven’t decided on that yet. My plan is to still take at least a couple of official visits though.”

This is what he said about Miami:

“I have always thought about being part of the Miami team that brought Miami back. I would be devastated if they won a national championship while I was in school and I wasn’t part of the team. That has always had Miami on my list. Then the new staff too and how they have recruited me made an impact on me. I have always felt like a priority for them.”
