You need NIL.

You need the administration.

You need a great staff.

The head coach needs to help with the facilitation of all of this, far more than doing any actual coaching.

People may not like it, but that's what the sport is now. The head coach is more facilitator than football man. It is what it is.

I’m no Mario fan but also do love reading the board suggesting how there’s all these better options out there

Coming from the place that has crowned more tragic head coaches than I can count after one good season

There really ain’t that many good college coaches. If they’re good they probably want to go to the NFL

So then take the actual good up and coming coaches and ask yourselves which ones want to come to Miami, a team in a joke of a conference that hasn’t won a **** thing in 20 years, and what do we really expect here?

And let’s just say by some miracle we do get someone like that? We are a stepping stone and gotta do it again in two years

Or are we still clinging to the fantasy that we can catch lightning in a bottle like we did in the early 2000s? We had Portis and McGahee and Gore and…right now we aren’t allowed to recruit over Lyle

Let’s get drunk fellas
I’ve said it many times and will say it louder for those in the back - we caught lightning in a bottle in ‘83 for our first NC and it took an improbable 2pt conversion stop to win it. It was 10 years between #4 and #5 and we have reverted back to what we were pre ‘83 - a middling program bumbling through a weak conference with little chance of returning to the “glory days”.

Times have certainly changed and we haven’t kept up until very recently. Whether or not the recent “reinvestment” in the program will bear fruit is yet to be seen.

I do not remember who said it first around here but I agree with the "Mario is like our Jim Harbaugh" narrative. It may take him some time to get over the hump and there may be some head scratching things he says and does but I think eventually he will lead us to a Championship.

If we separate ourselves from it being a "Miami Thing" and look around:

1. Hiring the right fit is not easy.
2. Most programs don't give their wrong fit extra time to prove they are still the wrong fit.

As disappointing as LY ended he has shown the ability to look inward and see where mistakes are made.
I also feel we need to start being honest with ourselves, the glory days are long past, it’s going to take time to get to a seriously competitive level again and with NIL who knows if that will really ever happen.
NIL is completely off the rails, Duke is paying millions…DUKE, FFS! It’s not a sustainable model right now.

Maybe they are investing in football for when the ACC implodes.... I will not compare and contrast Miami vs. Duke overall...

No.

He just won 10 games. Give him a chance to start stacking 10 or more game win seasons. Winning makes everything better. It equals more NIL money. Bigger budgets for the program. Better coordinators/coaches/analysts. Better HS recruits and transfers in the portal.

Terminating him for hopes of better creates nothing but disruption and continues the narrative that Miami will never be back. You want Mario to be the guy. You want Mario to succeed in a big way. Mario would be a lifer as HC at Miami. You would never have to worry about him leaving for a SEC or NFL opportunity.

In the world of football where HC are constantly jumping to the next job, if Mario is successful, Miami would be one of two or three other places that the HC would never be in question and would be solidified for the next 20 years.

I believe he is here for the long haul and that’s what we have to look forward too. I also believe we take a step backwards next year which is mind blowing in year 4 and there’s nothing us fans can do but to watch it unfold. It is tough to be. Hurricane fan these days, I can tell you that, lol.

24 years since we won anything and this year wasn't perfect but it was as fun as i can remember since along with that Richt year. ....but our fans perpetually think if the job is open we''ll get Saban, Andy Reid or someone else interested...despite the past.
They think we can just boot Cristobal & offer a blank check to Dan lanning, Ryan Day, Saban, or Urban Meyer or convince the great Lane Kiffin to come to Miami football rescue. its Championship or bust for em

I’m assuming that Mario is saving his money for a DC and QB that may not be available just yet or in negotiations. There will be second portal dates, for players [April 16-25]. If we go into 2025 with a freshman hopeful and a mediocre DC, then he deserves what he gets. He knows what happened to fsu. Unfortunately there are no Cam Wards out there.

I wanna make it clear my post was pure sarcasm but that's all i see on this board is ppl putting on their cape for Lame Kiffin as if dude hasn't underacheived at every stop...man had a loaded roster this year, proceeds to blow it as asual while whining and *****ing about his schedule but Canes fans are convinced he'll lead us back to glory its stupid af. All this talk about repacing Mario but no realistic options to lead us back to National Championships.
