Good stuff. I think right now we do have a lot going for us that is working. I think same time it’s very tough to be a team outside the top group

We see some teams flare up like an ASU and that’s cool. Will remain to be seen if that’s a blip or it can actually be consistent. My hope here is that the floor for Miami is raised to a level where we can be a consistent top 25 team and then have those years here and there where we threaten the playoffs

Same time the landscape is constantly changing at the moment so who knows? But end of the day it’s going to be hard to win championships if you’re not in the top tier of programs (which duh right?)

I feel optimism about the program but also we still can’t get to the **** ACCCG so that’s always a slap in the face of reality
No doubt there are some encouraging signs - investment in the program being #1. The CFB landscape has/is changing rapidly and how fast the football program, and even the other sports programs, can adapt will be the key to success short and long term.

Yeah I was concerned when this all started happening in 2022 and 2023 that we would be left behind

So when Mario was hired I wasn’t on board with him but I was relieved to see that it appeared we would try and keep up with the times

There were actually a few bigger programs that tried to fight it but eventually they realized they had to change

We were pretty quick on it and I was like ok cool can still be relevant

Mario has made some changes that have shocked me philosophically but still seems to struggle handling multiple issues at once. But most of what I hear is second hand info so I can only speak about it to a certain point

99.9% of us can only speculate as to what’s really going on. I have little doubt without Mario, we probably don’t see the investment we now see. Whether or not he can take advantage of it is yet to be determined. This year will tell us a lot.

No. I don’t think we’ll get another coach with boosters supper who are so willing to throw so much money to help.

Mario brought a near blank check with him and even though we might have a new coach and staff they’ll never get as much financial support. If Mario and all the money influxed can’t get this right we might need to surrender to the fact that maybe we will never be back

I like to play the "which program would I rather be today" game. Here is my list:

- Georgia
- Alabama
- Oregon
- Ohio State
- Clemson
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Penn State
- Notre Dame
- South Carolina ?
- Arizona State ?

That is the list. I get that perhaps a coach like Lashlee could do more with our resources and recruiting territory than he can do at SMU.

But if you told me that after 20 years of watching bull**** that we would be ~Top 10-15 program in the country, I would be thrilled.

That said, next year is a huge year for Mario, if we don't sustain the success, my opinion might change.

Well, if you read OP’s 2 points, he says the financial commitments remain in place. He didn’t give coaching options. Wasn’t really part of the question.
Well, I did read OP’s 2 points and understood the financial commitments remain. I’m simply (or so I thought) adding a stipulation I would need to know who might be available to replace Mario. Maybe some very private back channeling.

My answer would be No, unless I was very confident the candidate of my choice was available and interested in the position and willing to negotiate. I would not fire Mario and then go hunting for a new coach.

Coker. Shannon. Golden. Richt. Diaz. Mario.

We haven’t held a job interview since 2010

Yeah I’ll pass on doing it again right now
Golden was an interview lol. He said all the right stuff! He could have been a good coach here if he didn’t try and make Miami boys play a big10 style wefense and fired his boy. Even though he couldn’t get high level recruits cause of “the cloud”, he still evaluated well better than everyone else we have had here coaching after 2002.

It was on the old board but I was in Philly at the time. I kept up with local ball and Temple and actually brought his name up when we were kicking around names. I thought he could be a good coach

Tough time to get hired at Miami for sure

Are we though? Our NIL may be but it was that way in 22 & 23 as well.

This year we were top 15 but Cam Ward especially, Damian Martinez, Xavier Restrepo, Elijah Arroyo, Jacolby George, and Isiah Horton are the main reason we were top 15. All of these athletes are gone.

What makes you think we're a top 10-15 program?

I would argue we will be well outside the top 30 next year unless we get a very reliable QB soon.

Expectations are already in place we won 10 this year-

Anything less is unacceptable-

He knows how important next year is-
This years W/L record will have zero barring on his job security, but its a very important year for momentum to keep loading up and bring in the remaining pieces need for 26 and 27.
