Wonder what type [more Gattis hate]

I 100% expect Gattis to come out with multiple different things he has not shown yet. I expect some hurry up, some RPO, some ground and pound, and some deep shots. I wouldn't be surprised if the first 4 drives all looked completely different from the other. We have a great pass protecting OL (last year proved that) and they've gotten much better at running the ball. TVD can stand in the pocket and throw or throw on the run. Our offense can and should be multi-dimensional and this is the game to empty the chamber. You don't have a QB like TVD, an OL that has gotten better, and such a diverse RB stable without using that all to your advantage to keep the defense off balance.

I expect Gattis to show out and impress tomorrow.

If I am 8 and 4, I stop the run first and force TVD to throw and his receivers catch. TVD does have a tendency to start off slow. Stopping any momentum on the ground will be big for them. If we can move the ball even in 3-4 yard clips on the ground this will open things up for the pass and make it easier for TVD to settle in.

Gattis is just not that great. I will die on this hill, but before last year when he had shea patterson, while not out of this world, he was definitely toolsy, Gattis struggled to get him going on any level for 2 straight years.
Any success he did have was often off script and required an amazing play by either Patterson or a WR.

The complaints similar to Enos will surface again. The spread coast will fall flat again. The classic trope of “He will not scheme open (enter name smith, arroyo and Knighton)” will come back around.

I wasn’t a fan at Penn State, or Michigan.
I’ll be surprised if he makes it out of CIS alive this year.
Just waiting for the nickname to be bestowed upon him.

Enos did recruit TVD if I am not mistaken. But his qb room was pretty trash and so was the oline. Enos at Maryland looks a lot better than he did at Miami for what it's worth.

Theres people here that are convinced were holding stuff back. I think what we’ve shown is what we’ll see tomorrow night. Hope to God I’m wrong but I’m not counting on it.

This "we're just holding back" has a very 2016 Mark Richt vibe to it. History repeats itself all the time.

That being said, pack this offense with Day 1 & 2 guys and it'll look A LOT more explosive. With Parrish/X as you RB1/WR1 - what exactly are people expecting?

I have a sick feeling about Gattis. As I do with Addae. I feel like their in the same boat. I've heard that Gattis success at Michigan (Broyles) was due to Harbaugh basically being wayyy more hands on with the offense...and with Addae, that it was Kirby who really should get credit for the DB play at Georgia. Spoke to many credible people off CIS about both. I knew just who to call in ref. to Addae...and I trust them.

Harbaugh made Gattis run more. It was probably for the best with Michigan’s sorry *** quarterbacks.

People are acting like Gattis is this stubborn ground and pound coach. He is not if he is running more than the fans like, it is because the head coach told him to.

I want it to be true that Mario understand what he has in TVD and what he doesn't have in his current OL. I want to believe that Gattis is a great offensive mind able to out scheme the competition and put his players in position to do big things and big numbers. I want to believe that we will see big plays from the passing game, while the run game compliments it. I want to believe but I don't. Idk if it's that I believe Mario is just a 3 yards and a cloud of dust guy, or Gattis is overrated, or if it's because we don't have big time skill payers. It's most likely the fact that Miami has sucked for the last 20years and I have PTSD

Richt was suffering cognitive issues.

Gattis is a different guy from Richt and Enos.Watch 2019 Michigan’s offense. There are LOTS of passing concepts he ran we haven’t seen and Shea Patterson isn’t fit to hold TVD’s jock strap.

There’s hope for gattis.. addae.. is a nice dude

As much as I think the whole “saving the playbook” idea is retarded, it’s odd we have seen almost zero RPO so far. Gattis ran a lot of it at Michigan. Maybe we’ll get a taste Saturday.

In regards to people criticizing Gattis after two games, I can only speak for myself. I was under the impression that with Mario, we weren’t going to settle for “learning on the fly” coordinators like we have in the past. Regardless of his Broyles award, Gattis only has three years experience as an OC and two of those years, his offense was mediocre/below average. Especially frustrating since we passed on multiple coordinators with more experience and success.

Let’s not forget, Randy Shannon won a Broyles award too.

Trick plays are for inferior teams. Just execute the offense and we should be fine. Third quarter…up by 13 points, we start to really lean on the run game. 3rd and short…A&M HAS TO HAVE A STOP RIGHT HERE…and Gattis dials up the back-breaking flea flicker. Game. Over.
we busted out a ******* trick play for southern miss. were in some trouble

WHY should it get ugly though? Isn't that an indictment on Miami fans? I said this with other coaches, Mario and his staff aren't responsible for the past 15-20 years of mediocrity. He is trying to build a program in all areas. I am not sure why people thought he would deviate from his style of coaching.

He isn't going to come in and go up tempo air raid on offense. He is going to run a power spread offense, that emphasizes physicality in the run game, but he is going to be somewhat balanced. He will throw it, but not 40 times per game.

Gattis just won the Broyles award. He is a smart guy, but he also works for Mario. When Gattis was at Alabama that offense looked and was explosive. Why? He had Juedy, Smith, Waddle, Ruggs. He had an offense at Michigan that led nation in most 50 yard plays last year. MAYBE we need more talent on offense?

Mario is going to build this program a certain way, and if fans don't like it, tough. He is a proven Head Coach now, and he deserves time to get things right. Stylistically it may not look how some fans want, but it can be successful. How successful will depend on talent acquisition.
he wasn't the coordinator at Bama. he was a position coach.

we haven't really seen anything that would resemble a power spread yet. also, why have a. heisman QB if you aren't going to utilize him in the best position to succeed just bc you like a certain philosophy. philosophies gets dudes fired. putting your talent in the best position doesn't. TVD is our best player on offense and it isnt close (spare me Parrish and thad while they've been great so far they've done it against weak teams and our OL isnt exactly a run blocking OL). TVD is at his best when its a faster temp that allows him to make quick reads

It's a flea flicker. That is a common *** play. Y'all acting like we thru a double halfback fumble rooski. Or the Annexation of Puerto Rico.
I believe cribby said it best - you dont need a flea flicker to finally get some separation against inferior teams

then its a larger issue

Randy Shannon was an excellent defensive coordinator. Do we think Randy was a bad DC now?

If a coach isn't learning as the year goes on and adjusting I think that is a recipe for disaster. I hope any Miami can adjust as they learn new information. I don't consider that "learning on the fly" either, that is just a part of the job. I think you're characterizing the argument of the guy you responded to

it's not about air raid or ground & pound - we have more blue chip WRs than almost every school in the ACC - you can get WRs open by alignment or route combinations. "oh well those blue chippers haven't proven that they can make plays" that's why they shouldnt "hold back the playbook" against ****** teams the 1st 2 weeks. these coaches get paid too much money to blame talent on the team when it's their job to put them in positions to succeed.
we have more four star Receivers than anyone in the ACC outside of Clemson. they have talent. we have to put them in the best spots to succeed
