While it would be a **** shame if we miss out on Campbell(who I still think we get), it's definitely not a fireable offense for Rumph lol. The secondary was considered a weak spot coming into the season yet people are still using the end of the season struggles against the pass as Ann indictment solely of Rumph, which doesn't make sense. He's done a good job with our DBs and expect them as a group to only improve with the increase in talent coming in.
So Rumph should get a pass for bad recruiting and for us not covering anyone this year? Sounds good to me.
Bottom line: Make a big play with the AH 4, or beat it.
Spot on. Pete has said quite a few times that the 2018 class was THE class Richt had been focusing on since he became HC. So then its reasonable to assume he hired Rumph specifically to bring in players from AH, in the 2018 class. Yes, Rumph is a former Cane and a former NFL player. But those aren't the reasons Richt hired him. Kevin Beard checked off both of those boxes as well. Maybe I'm wrong and Richt brought in a guy who had no college coaching experience, to coach defensive backs, just because he is a former alum. But if thats not the case... and Rumph misses on Campbell... all **** SHOULD break loose.
Rumph missed on Marco Wilson, even though he coached him in high school and his dad played at Miami. The damage Golden did to the Miami - Wilson relationship should've been repaired with the hiring of Rumph. It wasn't. Lots of posters say Rumph had a hand in getting Surtain Sr the job at AH. So of course Surtain Jr rarely mentions Miami when discussing recruiting and leaves us out every time he names his top one billion. Slaton went to Florida. Herbert spurned him and was committed to Michigan for 6 months. Its also rumored that UFag not having an O-Line coach is what saved us with him.
To be clear I don't dislike Rumph. But if he misses out on Campbell, he can take a hike.
