Will Rogers in the Portal

December is going to be crazy.

It’s not agenda driven to point out we have no track record of producing NFL QBs for 30 years and our coach has a record of QBs under performing. Any QB who has nfl aspirations after a high light year will look elsewhere. We might get a solid college QB tempted by money tho.
It is if you totally ignore the FACTS that UM

-has one of the best OL's in college football and it will only get better
-UM almost had TWO one thousand yard WR's and that is with a QB "drought" of 6 games
-The opportunity for an Elite WR to come in and have a better than 1200 yard season IS LEGIT and
that gets WR's drafted. I don't care what UM's record for 25 years is with QB's getting drafted ... new situation and great opportunity.

i don't believe we'll find someone in the portal with a higher ceiling than tvd. when he's on, he's a top QB in the nation

obviously, we need someone who can be close to that and protect the ball and not absolutely sabotage us, that might be what rogers is
247 just posted on Twitter that Jackson Arnold from OU is thinking about the portal with lebby taking the miss state job! Something to monitor?

I posted about it earlier in the thread. Rogers PEAK ypa was the lowest for a Leach QB going back a decade. Read any scouting report about him and "arm talent" is a issue in every single one of them.

Then there's his lack of mobility. You can even see it on his highlights. I re-watched all of his games and was shocked at how much space defenses were giving him. They weren't daring him to run. They wanted him to. Either way, he wouldn't do it or couldn't.

Offenses are different than they were 20 years ago. QBs can't get by on smarts alone. Unless they play in a very specific system, QBs have gotta have arm talent or mobility. Otherwise spacing becomes a major problem.

I think everyone on this board would HATE the offense Rogers would have to run (and no it would not resemble Leach's).

I do think we look better in many regards, but our two best OL are leaving (not too worried about this), we don’t have an elite WR let alone 2, and track record matters when you sell to one year rentals looking at boosting their stock for the next level. There is a reason Jalen Hurts went to OU for example. The facts are UM is struggling program.

If I could answer that question I’d be in Vegas laying down bets . Mario should learn from this year but i‘m having doubts he ever learns from anything. I mean he didn’t learn about not kneeling against Stanford. Hopefully he proves me wrong. I’m in wait and see mode from here on out.
This is very concerning coming from Cribby.

I've said it before. If KJ Jefferson enters the portal from Arkansas we should be all over him. Would fit well with the Dawson offense and Mario's desire to be more physical. The Arkansas OL/OC were dumpster fires this year. Jefferson was one of the best players in the country before Enos and that O Line ruined him this year.

Rogers is more accurate, but Jefferson is better at everything else.

Well guess what. FSU was in the same boat and BAM they're undefeated. We have two WR that have better stats than they have and a much better OL. 🤷‍♂️

In fairness to the guy you quoted, he didn't say we have two elite receivers. He said we almost had two 1,000 yard receivers. Which is true. While Restrepo and George aren't likely to be early draft picks, they're among the most productive duos in the nation. I know we like to pretend our guys aren't good but I don't think UM has ever had two 800 yard receivers in a season before.

I didn't say WE HAD two elite WR's ... but the situation is perfect FOR two elite WR's to join the program. Let's see what we end up with after signing day and the portal.

You can sell borderline elite OL play and dare I say a strong WR unit to one of these guys. Obviously Miami hasn’t done **** in two decades, but the name holds weight. One of these guys shows up wins 10 games and it would improve their draft stock immensely.

This has been said for a long time though so it’d be easy not to fall into that trap.
