No QB with an iota of nfl potential is coming here.
Rogers does not have TVD’s arm talentWhat about the intangibles though ? Does he quit or mope when things get tough like TVD ? Can he rally or inspire guys around him ? If he excels in those areas even with identical arm talent to TVD I'd consider that an upgrade
Which is half of the idea. At this point it's better for both to move in different directions. Will Rodgers is no better than TVD. He'd just be a new QB.
He would defend Tyler for anything short of being filmed committing murder. Tbh he probably would discredit that as well.Which is half of the idea. At this point it's better for both to move in different directions.
I'd be ok with Rogers.. I think he'd be a bit more consistent than Van Dyke was this year but TVD's arm is superior and ceiling is higher.
I still think mobility is the most important aspect of our next QB. It'll drastically improve our run game having someone that can keep it and hold the conflict defender or break their own big play on the ground. Also, bail out the bad play calls or extend broken plays when no one is open or when the defense drops 8 into coverage and doesn't even have to account for a scramble. That isn't Rogers.
They also have to be able to make the throws or the running element is irrelevant. There will be no shortage of options that can do this. Just have to land one.
Look at our WR core performance this year. Look at the OL protection our QB's got. Not saying we'd be #1 choice for a QB with NFL aspirations but I think you could do far worse. No QB with an iota of nfl potential is coming here.
I still defend TVD. Held onto it for a while and I understand the reason he struggled. Wouldn't even be upset if he came back. I'd love to move on strictly to get a mobile QB - even if it is Pratt. He is mobile enough to make a differenceHe would defend Tyler for anything short of being filmed committing murder. Tbh he probably would discredit that as well.
He has never had to earn the QB1 job. That is an issue that I will never hold against him. I think competition may have steadied the ship for him. My only fear with him moving on is we bring in one guy to take the job.I still defend TVD. Held onto it for a while and I understand the reason he struggled. Wouldn't even be upset if he came back. Just better for both to move on in my opinion. TVD seems to have burned the bridge with fans and possibly the team as well.
Yep. Biggest problem this year was the lack of QB competition due to not getting someone from the portal. Even if TVD likely beat them out for the job, the competition pushed him and there was a guy to play when TVD had his leg injury and couldn't drive the ball.He has never had to earn the QB1 job. Agenda driven comment. WR production was excellent and would have been better if the QB didn't have a 6 game melt down. Almost had two 1000 receiving WRs this season. Add 2 elite outside WRs for 2024 and a very good QB will light it up.No QB with an iota of nfl potential is coming here.

Rogers had a better completion % than TVD .... and it ranged from a low of 60% in his senior season with a bad HC and scheme to a high of 74% in his sophomore season ... averaged 69.3%. Overall production of 12.315 yards with 94 TD's and 28 INT's. Playing at "Da U" with an improved OL, having some time, and also a legit run game, he could very easily be back to 74% completions. Only weak spot is lack of running ability ... but he can sling it.
I can't see a talented qb not looking at our oline, running backs, and skill guys not thinking he can make something really good out of that.
He's made a career of playing dink and dunk with Leach. He's been efficient but if you look at his yards per attempt/completion, he's just completing a ton of 6 yard passes. Part of that may have been playing with a talent disadvantage in the SEC with MSU though. I'm wondering if he could be more effective at a place like Miami where he'd have a talent advantage in most games.Rogers does not have TVD’s arm talent
Disagree. Turn on the tape. Show the production in the WR room coming back and the 8 seconds of time to throw TVD had on his interceptions. There is actually alot to sell.No QB with an iota of nfl potential is coming here.
Yeah, I think a lot of guys historically have been labeled “system QBs” despite showing transferable traits just because they happened to play in a pass heavy, quick throw offense, but I think Rogers truly is a product of the system. Which is great, if you’re going to run that, I just doubt it at Miami. He’s a hard pass for me.He's made a career of playing dink and dunk with Leach. with Leach. Not with the new offenseNumbers say otherwise
Offensive line/RB play or Mario?
Got a sick feeling Mario stepped in and changed things (especially with all the INT’s) then went back to the offense in September but I’m just speculating. I hope that isn’t it. Dawson isn’t entirely off the hook with several things and could have helped TVD more but I don’t think it’s fair to judge him on this season for several reasons.Dawson annoyed me this year but i‘d roll one more year. Too many former players speak highly of him to think he’s an idiot. I just like to see a little more space , motion and creativity. I don’t know if the predictability on certain downs is him or the HC. The last two weeks has been good though. Especially the under center stuff on short yardage.

It’s not agenda driven to point out we have no track record of producing NFL QBs for 30 years and our coach has a record of QBs under performing. Any QB who has nfl aspirations after a high light year will look elsewhere. We might get a solid college QB tempted by money tho.Agenda driven comment.
