Solid when he plays but has had trouble staying healthy
If you watch film it’s obvious but people have their heads so far up coaches asses they can’t see straight.People just don’t get that Dawson could have helped out his offense and his QB specifically by doing what he did yesterday. Put some guys in motion- help your QB identify the coverage and make adjustments. Use the TE so your WR can get open. It wasn’t hard but it wasn’t done. It’s easy to point the finger at the QB.
Look how much better the offense looked the past two weeks.
I’d like to know WHY?
It's possible that he's not a good offensive coordinator. Last year at Houston he was very good but also had an NFL QB and WR. His four year run at UK & Southern Miss was bad, bad, bad. This year was on par/a little worse than 2021 at Houston, and the GT/UVA/NCSt games were abominations (giving him a pass on the two Emory games). If he comes back next year he has to be a lot better, and we'll probably need to hit a bunch of homeruns on offense in the portal.People just don’t get that Dawson could have helped out his offense and his QB specifically by doing what he did yesterday. So was it Dawson, Mario or what is the remedy? Learn from the mistake of this season and keep continuity or cut bait and hope the next guy doesn’t go into a shell too?If you watch film it’s obvious but people have their heads so far up coaches asses they can’t see straight.
If I could answer that question I’d be in Vegas laying down bets . Mario should learn from this year but i‘m having doubts he ever learns from anything. I mean he didn’t learn about not kneeling against Stanford. Hopefully he proves me wrong. I’m in wait and see mode from here on out.So was it Dawson, Mario or what is the remedy? Understood but if this was your team would you bring Dawson back?If I could answer that question I’d be in Vegas lying down bets . Dawson annoyed me this year but i‘d roll one more year. Too many former players speak highly of him to think he’s an idiot. I just like to see a little more space , motion and creativity. I don’t know if the predictability on certain downs is him or the HC. The last two weeks has been good though. Especially the under center stuff on short yardage.Understood but if this was your team would you bring Dawson back?
I think if anything Mario should also look in the mirror about his mistakes this season and possible have empathy for Dawson. Not saying what’s right or not just curious if he has any thoughts on his own blunders outside of the offense.
He was at UK one year and Stoops has a reputation as an offense killer. He did pretty well at Southern Miss all things considered and has developed a few NFL qb’s. Imo his story is still writing itself. Not saying he’s great or garbage.View attachment 267879

This is a history of dog**** offense, and dude just reverted to the mean when he came here after a positive outlier last year. Mario's fault for thinking he'd recreate what he did for 1 years instead of what he had done for 4, but if Dawson stays I'd rather Mario meddle more and not less, lol, as leaving Dawson to his own devices and thinking he'll get better seems irrational
Fair points. I'm fine if he comes back but also won't shed a tear if he moves on. We get a good/great QB in the portal and a #1 receiver and he's set up like he was at Houston last year.He was at UK one year and Stoops has a reputation as an offense killer. I think the worst part if that they kept playing TVD while he was super injured hampering the Offense. TVD being so immobile while healing for like 1.5 months caused Dawson to have to go max protect in those bad games for Tyler. I know he could’ve schemed it better but playing Monday morning QB they probably should’ve just played Emory and tried to run the normal offense. Just my 2 centsIf you watch film it’s obvious but people have their heads so far up coaches asses they can’t see straight.

What about the intangibles though ? Does he quit or mope when things get tough like TVD ? Can he rally or inspire guys around him ? If he excels in those areas even with identical arm talent to TVD I'd consider that an upgradeWill Rodgers is no better than TVD. He'd just be a new QB.
Numbers say otherwiseWill Rodgers is no better than TVD. He'd just be a new QB.

TVD had a higher QBR at his peak (2021) than will Rogers ever did. But Rogers played for Mike Leach so they threw the ball a ton more.Numbers say otherwise
I suggested this in the offseason and people berated me like it was an insane suggestion. Pretty sure this is exactly what Joe Brady did with Burrow the offseason before the natty. They were studying with the Saints offensive personnel and coaching. At the very least, if you're somebody who values your job and one of the best people in the world doing it is that close by, you'd think you'd try to engage in some sort of relationship, no matter the industry. But maybe that's just meHe needs to get with the king of motion and creativity Mike McDaniel this off-season, they are literally like 30 mins away from each other. Mike and his QB Tua can have a study session with Dawson and his QB Taulia.
