the only thing that get's golden fired is a 3 or 4 win debacle of a season.... now that our starting QB is hurt 7-9 wins is in the wheelhouse for the "expectations" for this year.. If the defense improves, and we lose some games because of Shoddy QB play... the seat doesn't even become lukewarm.

9-4 with a trip to the ACCCG. I think this is more than reasonable. I think winning the ACCCG is a bit unreasonable just because we know who we'll be playing and the amount of talent stacked on that team. No reason Duke, VaTech or UNC should even be on the field with us, but they will. We have to get solid QB & DT play. Those are my only two variables.

I can take two early season losses and one more mid or late season. With that and the best team on the field at the end of the year I'm a happy fan. An inexperienced qb will be a challenge but should not be that much of a factor at the end of the year. The big ogre here is the qb of the future after growing into the position for three or four games being replaced by the no more then equal at best senior. That could happen.

8-4 is not acceptable and we sound like UM's weak administration even discussing it. Three things that are a must to prove that we really are "trending upwards"

1. Win the Coastal
2. Demonstrate an improvement on defense that passes the eye test and statistically
3. Close with top tier South Florida recruits that (FSU, Bama) are after

7-5 or 8-4 is what I expect. If we go 8-4 the national media will slobbering on Al for doing it with a freshman qb so there is no way he comes close to getting fired for 8-4.

There will be no one, other than the few nut jobs in our own fanbase, slobbering over Al Golden going 8-4 in his 4th year at the University of Miami.

Now see this is where things can get a little sticky..I fully expect us to lose to UL (In a REALLY hard fought game. I just dont think Olsen will be ready.) and FSU. So thats two losses right there. If we go 8-4, win the coastal, look competitive in all our games, lose to FSU in the ACC title game, but win the bowl game and end up 9-5...I dont think I would feel too bad. We would just have to pray that Duke and Tracy decide to stay another year.. THEN we can go for it all the year after IMO.

I see guaranteed, with NO chance to win, losses to UL, VT and Free Shoes in the ACC, and the odds of us NOT losing at least a game to the likes of GT, Duke, UNC and UVA (let's face it, NO WAY Golden is 4-0 vs GT, UNC, Duke and UVA, never happened, never will) are about zero.

But, at Nebraska could be a win. Bad coach (the Bielema of the B12), descending program (the administration WANTS 8-4/7-5 seasons, as if a Shalala clone is their President). Bad team (granted, nowhere near as bad as what Golden has produced in 3 years) but any team with a slight pulse can beat Nebraska.

Will that be the rallying cry of the Golden faction?

IMO, 8-4, 4-4 ACC is grounds for crucification in any coach's fourth season. But I don't speak for everyone.

NO truth there, just non accountability. Granted this administration has made some blunders the last 10 years, when fans stop attending the games because of the product on the field they will wake-up again like they did when the fired Coker and Shannon. The question is will it be the end of 2014 or 2015 if the product doesn't meet the Cane standard.

I think everyone forgets how ugly it can get when the losses start mounting. 6 or more losses and Golden is gone. Anything above 6 wins and he stays.

Do we have the QB? I don't think so. With Ryan i was a bit more confident.. but if Baby Jesus doesn't play like we need him too, it's going to be a rough season offensively. Add to that that i have minimal confidence in Coley's skills as a play caller, and i think we're going to need baby jesus to be just that.
