Wow the fact you would go there makes me laugh. I've written posts in here (more than once) with about 10-15 questions using facts and actual numbers asking you fluffers to answer them. General questions about our talent, our recruiting classes, our schedule, our scheme, etc and I have yet to see a response to any of the questions, because not a **** one of you has an answer that is not an opinion and even in your right mind, you could not seriously answer the question without realizing you'd sound ridiculous in defending your point.

Seriously, the most in depth answer I've seen to a real question is I didn't read, which meant he didn't have a **** answer, because he spent the last 8 hours before that post monitoring every post in the thread and responding with his opinion. You guys are running on blind faith at this point and excuses that are getting older with each passing day. It's ok to say you have faith and you believe that (insert excuse here) is what has held this team back, but to disregard everyone's opposing opinions as delusional when the numbers are there for all to see is just ignorant. Yes Golden gets a slight pass because of the situation, but it's not a lifetime pass. Randy got a worse depth chart than Golden did and he took over after the FIU debacle as well as the Bryan Pata murder. Randy **** the bed and got canned in 4 years. This is year 4 for Golden. We better look like we are on our way to being a legitimate threat after year 4. Golden's stud class will be Juniors and his first class which still wasn't garbage will be seniors. We lost some studs because of the Shapiro thing, but lets not act like we weren't able to bring in talent.

I'm still supporting the team and still hope Golden succeeds, but he better show us something this year. Improvement of giving up 450 yards a game instead of 500 will not be acceptable. We need to beat the teams we are supposed to beat, look respectable (I did not say elite) on both offense and defense, and be competitive against anyone else.

Golden doesn't have the instincts nor intuition to be a great coach. He's good at planning. And when the plan fails, he's lost.

The sooner we quit wasting time on this guy -nice though he may be - the faster we can get on track to being a top 5 team every year.

It depends on the eye test. Getting smoked, struggling with bottom feeders, breaking bad defensive records and losing recruits. Also regressing as the year progresses. Forget wins and losses, your eyes can tell you the truth. Last season was the worst 9 win team ever assembled. Cant happen again. You have to be better at the end than the beginning of the season. Do that and I see progress, otherwise boot up the a$$$

I'm mostly on board with the comments in this thread, but I can tell you that even a 6-6 season doesn't get Golden fired. His seat isn't even remotely warm

I don't want Al fired but I do want to win. Empty seats will get any coach fired. Heat is on whether anyone knows it or not. Al beat the friggin gator last year and by the end of the year even I wanted his head-- and nothing matters more to me than beating those slims. His seat might not be remotely warm, but he has spilled gallons of gasoline around it since that night in Tally. If there are a couple of former Cane assistants with NFL HC experience sitting around with interest in coming home to restart their careers, if will only take a spark.

Not sure how it was Tallahassee where he spilled the gas unless fans were not watching the first 7 games. I think people predictably overreact to the losses, but it was the way we lost against Duke and Louisville that makes it painful.

I meant the gas came after Tally. The lack of adjustments to meet criminoles' halftime changes was concerning but it was the VT game that opened the gas cans.

Bravo sir, I said it in my reponse earlier in the thread, if I would have told this board and its pro Golden posters that in year 3 of the 2012 class we would be lucky to finish 8-4, I would have gotten laughed at. Now its the 2014 class that is the saving class, you know the that top 3 class that became top 5 and then fell just outside the top 10. That will be the class that brings us back, til they are in year 3 and people are talking about how 8-9 wins will be a success......

The NCAA just allowed him the chance to really just be a coach. He will not be fired just bc of that alone. Now, I'm not sure why most think UL is a sure loss. Strong isn't coaching that D, and they're breaking in an unproven QB as well... But they don't have a Duke, a Stacy, or a Dorsett gamebreaker on their team. Oh yeah before it comes, Petrino can't make plays. Now, we lost to Duke and VT who is also breaking in a new unproven QB last yr, with Duke and Dorsett watching... Two of our most important players on O! They're both back healthy and older, so is Gus and Tucker who didn't even play last yr. He gives us a totally different dimension that was missing last yr. Now I know we will have a young QB this yr, but we had QB play last yr that was probably worse than a RS Freshman play at a lot of times. D will be light yrs better and so will special teams. If we improve in two facets on our team other than O, were the star power is, how can we not be a better team? I doubt we lose to UNC at home or GT, btw, who is GTs QB? Duke was a fluke, we will slaughter them at home and healthy... Golden and the staff are only improving, there's no need to wish for change when improvements are made. Why can't we be excited about a SR named DP? Why can't we be excited about Jrs named Duke, TH3, Bush, McCord, Ray Jenkins, Flowers, Crawford, Crawford, and Kirby? We have Scott and Dorsett as Sr wrs and we also have a RS Soph named Herb! This team has grown up through fire, and we will reap all the fruits of seeds planted through Nevingate and no depth left by the last coaching staff! Go Canes!!
