don't really care to see 2 of our recruits playing on the UM bball team. to be honest.

I don't care about you

Why would you not want football & basketball to both succeed along with all hurricane sports?

They both say they want to play basketball. They both wanted to do both. Elder couldn't find the option to do both everywhere. There is an article in this thread where Griffin said how the basketball team is playing helped him commit. So doubt if you want. But you're not correct.

You know the deal. Plenty of Miami football fans aren't fans of the other sports. They treat it like an NFL franchise. The school and other sports are just a nuisance

A point on qualifying, Hurlie Brown was the one in the football office responsible to for making sure recruits stayed on track to be eligible. Hurlie Brown led the recruitment here for Griffin.

Take it for FWIW but should be a good sign.

For me, these late studs that we are getting is just as important for maintaining excitement in the program as it is about their actual onfield production. Positive news like this helps us from a PR and positive press standpoint - last few days, everyone was deflated about Cristobal leaving. Now, everyone is glowing like a pregnant woman. lol.

Even if the kids dont enroll in August (Griffin) or end up playing bball (Griffin and Elder), we still ended up with a net positive gain for the football program.

By August, we'll have tons more to talk about and to look forward to - Griffin not enrolling would suck for a minute, but everyone will be too busy looking forward to everyone else and everything else going on that the sting will not last. We'll be busy talking up the kids that are here, like Sandland, Dobard, Coley, etc.

Well realize this. If not for the UM bball team the two recruits you're talking about probably wouldn't be Canes. Both expressed a desire in playing both sports.

Whatever works.
I wouldn't care if they both wanted to double in fencing as long as they get their work in and crack heads at football.

Cot **** this dude is 6'7 and runs a 4.5, that's what Im still trippin on. Kid is going to be a BEAST of a target to hit. Could grow into a TE too with that size.

ESPN 150 tight end Derrick Griffin has signed his letter of intent, but not with the school to which he was long committed, Texas A&M.

The Rosenberg (Texas) Terry product is heading east and will join Miami... according to his uncle, Scooter McGowan.

Griffin will take a visit to Coral Gables, Fla., this weekend.

Guy's name is GOAT. Straight from happy gilmore

Keep him at wideout.................................

THIS!!!!!..I want our Patrick Turner/Mike Williams/Dwayne Jarrett

Im all about this too, unless the kid ends up at 230 or more. With that kind of size, going to be hard to keep him at 210 unless he has a skinny frame.

It ain't about the weight, it's about the fluidity. Calvin Johnson is 230 and Griffin is 2 inches taller. Gotta see how he looks in and out of his breaks and could you imagine blocking the WR blocking with this guy and Allen Hurns? Duke cuts to the edge and he's gone.
