i disagree that he is a sign and place or that he has no chance to qualify. i'd think golden has looked at this and admissions and thinks there's a chance. must not be too far off or they think he is close.

Well, that's how I feel about Al Golden when it comes to building this program brick by brick

"There have long been concerns over Griffin's ability to academically qualify, but Griffin has been working diligently this year at improving in the classroom and made the A-B honor roll at Terry in the fall semester.

He recently took the ACT, and McGowan said Griffin will take it up to four more times. In the meantime, he'll continue to work to raise his grade point average to improve his chances to qualify through the NCAA clearinghouse."
 
Elder and Griffin can both also play basketball so it's obvious Golden and Larranga have teamed up and become our own:

No problem with Griffin, more weapons :), but why can't we recruit the area of our team that needs the most help, the front seven.

when's the last time you saw the entire class enroll?
 
Interesting that posters on here can say definitively whether this kid will qualify already when he still has months of school left that will decide that. Unless you can predict the future just shut up.

Griffin, who hails from B.F. Terry High School in Rosenberg, Texas, will take his official visit to Miami this weekend and he said he felt like he wanted to commit to the Hurricanes before the trip.

"I had a tournament down there for AAU and I liked the surroundings," Griffin said. "I just really liked the area and what they are about as a program. They have sent a lot of top players to the NFL."

Griffin (6-7, 210) is a four star receiver by 247Sports with a 95 rating. He is the No. 7 receiver prospect in the country. He committed to Miami over Auburn and Texas A&M.

"The Miami coaches were really excited when I told them I wanted to commit," Griffin said. "They were all yelling and telling me they were happy to have me as a part of their family now. That made me smile."

Griffin says he wanted to commit to Miami because they were always a school he respected.

"Miami was always one of my dream schools. The best players come from Miami and I want to be a part of that," Griffin said. "You look at Ray Lewis, Andre Johnson, and Ed Reed. They do a great job preparing their athletes for the next level."

Griffin is also a basketball player. He plays power forward and is averaging 25 points per game for his high school team this season.

"This year Miami's basketball team is looking really good. They are No. 2 in the country and they have a real chance to win a National Championship. I want to try and play college basketball too, so that is a big reason why I like them too."

Griffin finished his senior season with 592 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on 36 receptions. He has been clocked at a 4.5 in the 40.

Griffin is the second wide receiver commit in Miami's 2013 class as he joins Stacy Coley.

Well realize this. If not for the UM bball team the two recruits you're talking about probably wouldn't be Canes. Both expressed a desire in playing both sports.
