welcome to the u thread - Derrick Griffin

If he makes it, amazing. If he doesn't, then the very worst thing that happens is we have an inside track on him later and we get some good pub for signing a stud and our "ranking" goes up.

Can't lose.

According to milian, He's hearing Derrick will have an uphill battle qualifying academically at miami.

hope he qualifies. great get, but i'll believe it when/if he enrolls. maybe golden gets one of these mythical 'free passes'? I can dream..

Great get, we need to raid Texas here and there to remind them we are the U

Post Signing Day around here has been like getting x-mas presents in Feb. 8)

I hope he can become a TE with the help of UTough. If he does, in 2014, he and Sandland will be like Gronk and Hernandez. Standish Dobard also. ****.

I'm interested to see where he ends up on the field. Seemed like the staff was very confident with Dobard and Sandland. I'm a big believer of bringing in all the talent possible and letting them duke it out, but after grabbing the top juco TE in the country along with the 4th rated TE in the country, and then grabbing Griffin why not use him at WR. i think he's either a WR deep threat in certain situations, end zone target, or they are just getting the inside track on him for next year.

A point on qualifying, Hurlie Brown was the one in the football office responsible to for making sure recruits stayed on track to be eligible. Hurlie Brown led the recruitment here for Griffin.

Take it for FWIW but should be a good sign.

Valid Point T-Sim.

Milian doesn't have any source brah...he knows as much as we know

Well everyone who doesn't have their green and orange glasses on seem to think he'll have a hard time qualifying. Some of yall just wishful thinking that he'll magically qualify. I would think some of you would learn by now. I'm not getting excited over this because I just don't seem him getting in this year. Then he's a sign and place kid who I doubt we'll end up at Miami anyways.

The issue isn't going to be ACT score and GPA...he'll probably get there...but he's going to have a ton of re-taken classes (mostly online) and by his own admission, going to take multiple ACT scores. Not uncommon, but that is just begging for the clearinghouse to hold him up.
