Welcome to the Canes, Derrick Smith

Thanks for the explanation. But the "coverage" part seems like it's missing.

Sorry, meant that the guys classified as OLBs are only for the Mike or Strongside Linebacker position. These guys will not be asked to cover, and are almost all run support and blitzing. The Weakside and Strong Safety positions will be more interchangeable and these are the guys classified as SS

So what is McCloud and Pinkney's roles? And how are Jennings and Wilder similar to them as prospects? Because they seem
Like just thumpers.

He is actually wrong. In this scheme the sam is asked to cover the slot and blitz off the edge. The mike and will spots are basically the same thing in this scheme. They all will be asked to cover more but diaz cut it down this year because they were young.

Where do Wilder and Jennings fit in there.

Wilder will likely play the sam to get him on the edge and used as a blitzer most of the time. Jennings likely plays will and steed at mike.

Jesus, did anyone watch that tape? He seems to have great range, athleticism, and tackling, while being huge for a safety (linebacker size). Seems like a solid SS. Rankings aren't everything.

Norton was a 3 star OG according to his ranking

Norton was a 4 star. Try again

https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/8570

They had him as OG and flipped him to DT after he committed again I'm right here in same City wit these kids Bud

ok. here lets bring golden back. richt cant recruit. you people are hilarious. Coaches makes evaluations and i trust this staff. if stars were everything, Ed Reed, Santana moss, ray lewis, etc would have never been here or amounted to anything.

Looks like a big physical kid who tracks the ball really well. Reminds me of a Rich Man's Rayshawn Jenkins.

I like the pickup.

I hope so. Wilder posted a legit 200m--22.78 at the districts this year. This kid is a Nike 6-1 and 196 and cannot be a CB for sure nor a safety with that speed. Wilder aloes played for CC that faced tough comp and went to the state and won.

Ok, I understand their recruiting at LB better now.

There is no evidence of any of this. It's all wishful thinking. Let the truth set you free. Just look at the composite rankings and compare the averages over the years.

How many players in those rankings did anything here. The '12 class would be of particular interest. Or the '13 class that 3 signees to inflate ranking that never enrolled. Talking about Golden's recruiting without mentioning all the washouts. Ridiculous

You're playing the results. We know you can cherry pick some that don't work. The overall numbers suggest the rankings are Similar.

Some? Preston Dewey, Gray Crow, Jontavious Carter, Dwayne Holliet, Figs, Jawand Blue. Davante
Bond Ryheem Lockley and Derrick Griffin. That's just off the top of my head from those two classes.

Every class has busts. Just look at the rankings and compare the averages over the years.

Oh I'm not done.

Larry Hope, Nate Dortch, DeQuan Ivery, Gabe Terry, Danny Dillard, Vernon Davis, D'Mauri Jones, Taylor Gadbois, Jacoby Briscoe, Robert Lockhart. Angelo Jean-Louis All from 2012. Simply guys who washed out or didn't enroll in Jean-Louis case.

Guys who weren't any good

Jelani Hamilton
Earl Moore
Jake O'Donnell
Gray Crow

Career ending injuries/focus on baseball
Josh Witt
David Thompson

Golden recruited three QBs in that class and not one played a meaningful down.

Thats 17 out of 33 signees who did nothing at Miami.

That doesn't even account for Antonio Crawford who transferred before his senior season.

But lets just look at the numbers and say they're the same.

I like what I see but he looks like a 4.7 guy. He he can get faster I think he'll be a good one. Needs to shirt. But probably won't and play special teams.

From another site----
"At the Orlando Combine 10 months ago he was measured at 6-1 and 196. I can see him now at the 205 lbs.but the coach claims 6-3?"

"Also his track and field measurable were so-so when he was at Clay High School back in April 2016 as a Junior of this year. Never ran the 100m, 200m and 400m or hurdles."
High jump- 5-2 (national elite 6-5)
Long Jump - 18-3 (usually a decent indicator of sprint speed--national elite 22-1)
Triple Jump- 37-11 (national elite 45-0)

"I hope I am in error and they know something that is not apparent to me."

"Some good offers but nothing out of this world."

I have absolutely nothing against this kid, and I'm glad the staff is working. I think this pickup would be fine if everyone weren't so salty over JJ. Having said that...

There was a girl in my HS he high jumped 5' 4", and my best long jump was 18' 6" in 9th grade. I stopped jumping because I could tell I wouldn't reach 20'+ which is what was winning most of the meets. I can assure you nobody was recruiting me for D1 anything. From what I'm hearing, this kid is a good football player, but I don't think we need to spend much time going over his track results.

We have no offered K. Roach from Miramar High and he is 6-2/180 played CB and S and on a team that faced tough competition all the time.

By the way Roach tried the high jump in just one meet Lou Bing Classic 2 years ago and posted 5-9 as a sophomore not a junior.

Kaheem Roach - Hudl

As I suspected, he's a very average athlete. I know a 13 year old kid who has a better long jump. He looks like a good HS football player though. It'll be interesting to see if the football skills can make up for the average athleticism. I remember Duh'Nofrio ranting about "I know he's fast, but can he play football? I want football players!"
