We need a change at DC. Sorry but this is inexcusable...

We gave up less points and yards last year because the offense played at a pace as slow as possible to quicken games and kill the clock. It's revisionist history to portray the defense as being good for giving up 20 PPG while ignoring the style of offense we ran to allow that to happen.

Sorry fellas, but he isn't going anywhere for at least two more seasons. If you think otherwise, you are crazy.

The opposite holds true, though.

If we play fast and pass-happy, we better be scoring, or it gets super ugly.

Stop, the only guy even arguing this **** is Azurecane who is either related to D'Onfrio or simply a troll. 99% of the fans with more than half a brain no this D's problems go beyond talent.

notre dame didnt have to even attempt to pass in the second half because hey knew the defense could not stop the run. they averaged over 7 yards per rush which is ridiculous. an adjustment needed to be made and it didnt seem like anything was done from a results perspective. yes the team is young, "a new system" is being implemented, and there is little talent on the line, but come on. 7.5 yards per rush is ridiculous and we are not going to win games with this end product. we are very fortunate the offense can score easily, but when theyre not bringing their A game, the team will suffer big time big of their ineptitude on defense.

I said it before the season and I still believe it. We have the worse DL of any BCS school. Chickillo is a sophomore and would be a redshirt freshman just getting his first burn in the right situation. Pierre should be at Temple. Not many schools wanted him outside of Golden at Temple. Darius Smith aka "The Plug" LOL Dude has no business at Miami. We were just that desperate. Shayon Green is a converted LB who has blown out his knee twice. Undersize and no explosion. Most of the backups are freshman who should be redshirting. Grimble is a tweener. Too big and slow for DE and too small and weak for DT. Not Miami caliber, USC was thankful we took him off their hands. Again we were desperate. Corey King? LOL Another kid that isn't Cane caliber. There is no way in **** you are going to do anything on defense with a DL full of JAGs. **** calling some of these bums JAGs is a compliment. This staff should be at every elite DL front door step begging them to sign here.

I agree. Understand the emotion after a debacle like this, but we don't have the talent or depth. So you can try to figure out what scheme might work better, etc, but ultimately we're in trouble because we don't have the horses to compete on defense ad particularly the Dline. It's a shame, but I don't see it getting better for 2 years. You can't scheme for a seriously subpar dline and weak secondary. Good luck.

Will we ever get help on the d line? How long does it take to heal from getting your appendix removed? Hasn't it been like 3 months now?

Azure is talking out of his ***, we have better players than 50% of other school son our D-line. The difference then is coaching. Or in our case, lack thereof.
you cant coach strength and size and thats been our problem this year. we simply arent big enough or strong enough up front this year. ill ask you the same thing, was it a lack of coaching when we had a top 20 scoring defense last year?

Larry Coker also won an MNC here. This is the WORST defense UM has had in over 30 years.

Statistically...this is the worst defense Miami has EVER had.

You gotta realize, those defenses in the 70's had some good players on'em. Don Smith, Don Latimer, Rubin Carter, John Turner, Gary Dunn, Burgess Owens, Mike Barnes...even the late 60's had Hendricks, Tony Cline, Eugene Trosch, Tom Beier.

I'd give a nut to have Don Latimer and Rubin Carter at DT right now. lol

As good ole Able has preached: to hate corch D is to hate on Golden, they're one in the same. As a former defensive coordinator it would be naive to think Al's prints aren't all over this scheme/gameplan. Is what it is.

Again let pray we can get the horses.

Notre Dame's DC made adjustments. Donofrio made none. I cannot count how many times ND ran that wide sweep play and no one was ever in site for 5 yards. The really sad thing is i feel that ND offense was playing with about 80% effort half way through the 3rd quarter to the end of the game. And they still could not stop them.

Even if we had the horses, we can't align them properly. I felt sorry for the kids.

It seems like we are going to need All-Americans all over the place

the D is too young, inexperienced and some players just arent good enough (Dline)for this team to get behind big against top 10 teams like KSU and ND .. this team has no chance once behind such teams of that caliber.. im most disappointed with the offense..

Trollin.
Physically ready? Dont reach.for.excuses for the bullshyt uve witnessed this yr. Wat happened to U tough and having more players lifting multiple reps of 225. We were supposedly stromger and better comditioned than last yr thats frm goldens mouth.
what happened?

what happened is we have gotten bigger and stronger:
chick went from 248 last year to 265 this year
pierre went from 265 to 296
green went from 254 to 260
king went from 270 to 292
williams went from 220 to 251
cain went from 230 to 245

should i keep going?

there have been results, but the problem is that we are still playing with guys who are cleared undersized and still not where they need to be physically. its going to take another year to get close to where we need to be, especially on the DL

It is difficult to fathom that we gave up 375 yards rushing to ND. Coming into the game, ND's offense was STRUGGLING all season! But, we have the uncanny ability to make sure opposing offenses look unstoppable. Simply inexcusable. I deplore watching our defense being so reactive. Like numerous other posters have so eloquently stated in this thread, young players can no longer be the excuse. This scheme is horrid.

Remember, Temple fans warned us about coach D. I would gladly eat all the crow in the world if I end up being wrong about this. However, unfortunately, I just don't see anything remotely close to signs pointing to a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

The writing is on the wall. Will Golden do what needs to be done to improve UM football (firing his boy). Or, is our head coach going to permit his personal friendship to interfere with the business (UM football) he is running.

Let's see how good of a coach he is, and how much he truly cares about the team, his career, etc. because there is absolutely no justification for these weekly performances, none.

I'm confused with all the undersized DL talk we are hearing. MSU is the only team with a vast size difference at NT over us.Just go back and look at these teams ND played and look at their depth chart, this is a MAJOR scheme issue. And BTW the guy who's scheme they are using will probably be out of a job at GT in a few weeks.
