We need a change at DC. Sorry but this is inexcusable...

I absolutely think Franklin is gone after this season. Unless there is a DRAMATIC turnaround, Golden is going to HAVE to do something.

I dont think some of you cats realize just how BAD this defense is. If not for the offense pulling out some miracles, and the 4-5 turnovers we got against BC, we could be 1-5 right now. The only game we have won solidly was Bethune. Tonight was just astounding. These guys just ran the same play against us, over and over and over again. 375 yards of RUSHING. IN ONE GAME. And its NOT just today. Its been all year. Are you going to tell me that with all the kids we have recruited in the last few years that we should have a worse defense than FIU, Ball State, Toledo, Akron, New Mexico??? We were 114 out of 120 BEFORE tonight. Think about THAT.

And you think that's scheme? Sorry....but that is personnel.

Oh its not just the scheme. These guys arent being taught sh*t. I think the technique along the DL is attrocious. The Lbs are slow to react, but its also VERY MUCH the scheme. Why the F*CK are the DBs so far off the ball, consistently. I took til the FOURTH F*CKING QUARTER before he slid a LB outside of Chick to stop them running the same sweep to the outside for the 50th time. The guy refuses to play man no matter how bad we are getting crushed. If you cant even slow them down, stack the F*CKING BOX. MAKE them beat you through the air. There is NO F*CKING reason a team should EVER rush 375 against you. That is a DISGRACE, and a sign you have utterly FAILED at your job.
were you complaining about the scheme last year when we were top 20 in scoring defense?

the scheme hasnt changed, what has changed is the fact we have alot of undersized and inexperienced guys that we are forced to count on

Azure is talking out of his ***, we have better players than 50% of other school son our D-line. The difference then is coaching. Or in our case, lack thereof.
you cant coach strength and size and thats been our problem this year. we simply arent big enough or strong enough up front this year. ill ask you the same thing, was it a lack of coaching when we had a top 20 scoring defense last year?

Our D lost of plenty of games last year. And I remember a lot of same posters not being happy.

If we look at only BCS schools. Do u think they Iowa State, Texas Tech, SU, Northeastern, Illnois, Cal, Oregon State, have more talent than us?

34 First downs. ONE punt all game. 587 yards of total offense. 376 yards rushing. With what was considered to be a MEDIOCRE OFFENSE!!!

We have given up 208 points so far this season. That's an average of almost 35ppg. And that INCLUDES Bethune. Against Division I opponents, we are giving up almost FORTY points per game.

I thought our defense stunk last year as well. We allowed **** poor quarterbacks to look like Heisman contenders all year last year as well.

Outside the occasional moments from 52 and 44, I don't see anyone getting off blocks and coming up with plays. have to win some 1-on-1 battles.

That said, we did hold ND to 13 in the first half while the offense folded a few drives away.

Larry Coker also won an MNC here. This is the WORST defense UM has had in over 30 years.

but we were still like top 15 or 20 in scoring defense and allowed 20.1 ppg, d'onofrio coached that defense also, so its clear the problem isnt him, but rather the lack of size, experience and the fact we have depth issues this year.

Last year we were solid in the redzone, but we allowed teams to march up and down the field, look at our yards per game last year not, just our scoring defense stats. The big difference this year is that teams have been punching it in more often instead of relying on field goals. The difference in defense really is not that significant. The scheme allows for teams to move the ball up and down the field. Then somehow we hope their offense will make a mistake. It is a terrible scheme. Hated it last year, hate it again this year.

Get rid of this guy!!!!!!!! Y are we plying 7-10 yards off the recevers? They just run 7 yard combacks.
They might be young but they have talent. This D is the worst ever!!!! The dline sucks!!!!!! I am ****ed off at Donfario this is unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!
the DL sucks because we are giving up 20-30 lbs on the average. thats why we are getting manhandled. we have gusy like chick, mccord, green and cain playing DE who all weigh no more than like 265, we have olsen pierre and luther playing inside and they are both like 290. if you cant understand why we are getting our asses kicked up front on defense, then Im not sure what else I can say.

Really? Our DTs are too light...lighter than 119 other FBS schools? I suggest you look up what some non-BCS schools trot out on the DL. Being only 290 is no excuse.

Thank You. None of the guys in our rotation are under 290, and Olsen Pierre is close to 300, and Darius Smith is well over 300. We had years here where we had to field guys at DT who were playing at 270 and did better than this, against 300 pound OLs. And AGAIN, I have no doubt that we are young, inexperience, thin, and just all around s*cking @ss at DL, but worse than 119 other programs in Division I? I dont think so.
Matt Walters anyone?

last year we gave up 359 yards per game (which was about what we allowed to BCC this year). again i see the difference being what we lost last year and the fact that we replaced it with kids who simply arent physically ready to play.

And you're wrong...this scheme is garbage. Either way, because we only gave up 359 last year D'Onfrio can go drop a massive **** on the field and its ok...gtfo

Just last week, I posted on a topic like this and said I would give Coach D 2-3yrs to get 'his guys' in place.

After todays game, I tried to wait until I atleast slept on it before I posted how bad our D was tonight. I couldn't tho..

Coach D is trying to fit a square peg in a round whole. He's trying to run HIS D with players that aren't ready.. So instead to adjusting and scheming to their strengths, he calls plays he's fimiliar with but his players can't execute.

How many times have we seen a safety blitz and nothing comes of it. I mean, either the other team is ready for it or are working short passes that makes deep blitzes useless. But still, every 4 plays, we send the wide-side safety!!!

If Golden wants to keep his boy and, ultimately, his job, he's gonna have to send him around some college campuses and NFL camps in the off-season cause if we still have the same problems in 2-3yrs, people will be coming after the CEO.

I don't think I've ever recalled a Miami defense this bad. 1984 maybe?

what happened?

what happened is we have gotten bigger and stronger:
chick went from 248 last year to 265 this year
pierre went from 265 to 296
green went from 254 to 260
king went from 270 to 292
williams went from 220 to 251
cain went from 230 to 245

should i keep going?

there have been results, but the problem is that we are still playing with guys who are cleared undersized and still not where they need to be physically. its going to take another year to get close to where we need to be, especially on the DL
