WE CAN COMPETE FOR NC NEXT SEASON

VT- losing a four year starting QB and to the best of my knowledge still don't have a RB to replace Wilson

UNC- lost Bernard, returning Renner (QB). IMO, hardest Coastal game next year

A big reason I guess I'm more optimistic than most on here is bc we haven't seen the entire defense really play together yet plus Bush, Tracy, etc have not gone through a strength program like this.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think the defense will improve some and that the offense has the possibility to improve quite a bit if Morris can improve his touch and progressions. Unless you think other teams are improving through subtracting their offensive playmakers, I think there's reason to be optimistic about this upcoming season

How about before we start talking BCS we see how our "National Championship Contending" teams defense does against UF next ear to start the season. Let's see if we don't make Gillislee and Driskell look like a reincarnation of Steve spurrier and emmit smith first

There is absolutely no doubt that there is reason to be optimistic about next year and the future. I am personally excited about a lot. But some predictions on here are just flat out baseless and illogical (like the OP).
 
We haven't beat FSU for 3 straight years and people wanna talk BCS.....
 
For what it`s worth, here is my opinion. I think next year`s offense will be one of the best in the country. If, and it`s a big if,we can improve to just a middle of the pack defense, I think we will surprise a lot of people.

Not sure why OP got blasted.

He qualified is prediction by saying "IF" we land immediate impact recruits like Collins and Bonds as well as other top recruits we could compete.
Looking back if we sign Collins it's highly probable we beat Duke and VT.
Sure no one saw FSU having the season they did but before the season it was rational to think we could compete with them. Heck we did it this year before Duke went down. I'm sure a guy like Bond would have gotten to Winston where guys like Shayon Green didn't and having Collins come for Duke would have made it a closer game.

Anyways obviously we didn't land those kids that OP was basing his prediction on but if we have had he could have been right.

Yeah I mean we were a top 10 team in the beginning of November, undefeated going into the FSU game before Duke Johnson got hurt. FSU had a great team this past season. Our (much-maligned) defense held FSU pretty tight for the first half and forced Winston into 2 turnovers, easily his worst half of the season. We had guys getting to Winston, but no one could wrap him up. I think Collins could've helped with Duke and VT as well (although VT seemed to have every bounce go in their direction that game). I had big hopes for this season with a healthy Ryan Williams, it'll be interesting to see how much Olsen grows during this offseason. We're gonna need him.

So you're doubling down on that prediction? talk about bad $ after bad $. Do you really think we would have been a top 10 team last year with Alex Collins, Bond, and whatever other recruits were on the radar at that point? C'mon.

Did you watch the Louisville game? We had (and continue to have) a long way to go.

OP'S prediction was "competing" for the mnc. Not wininng it or playing in it.

Not really hard to fathom winninng vs Duke with true RB like Collins that could have picked up needed first downs.
Yeah I could see them 10-1 heading into a rematch vs FSU in ACC champ game with talks of the winner being mentioned as possible top 2 on BCS poll.

Why you so butt hurt? Klan? LOL. I know that's how you like coming to terms with Randy failing but get over it.
 
But people knew FSU had a top 5 roster in terms of talent just didnt think jimbo would put it all together. Follow recruiting and while its never exact it more often than not tell the talent on roster I always look at a snapshot of about 2 really elite classes within a 3 year timeframe to see if a team is going to make some noise
