USC guilts Matt Thomas into sticking with his plan....

Wish we had some local kids like Duke in this class. Too bad the primadonnas grow on trees in South FL

There are kids like Duke in this class. Stop with the nonsense.

We have LOCAL KIDS in this class who have been committed since Day 1 and have gone out of their way to publicly recruit for UM? Offered their jersey number to another recruit? Please, do tell who they are?

So unless you get a one a million type kid like Duke, you are a primadonna?

It's the biggest choice of their lives up to this point. Un****ingreal.

Agree. the duke types are the exceptions not the norm

What we are missing here is a huge point. Most of the kids in Miami don't come from money or have extra money just to take trips. This kid may never really get the chance to travel to Cali (unless it works out for him that he makes it to and in the NFL). He gets hotel, food and entertainment for free. It cost a lot less to drive to Coral Gables then it does to fly to Cali. Go enjoy the trip young man you have worked for it, just remember on NSD that the letter you sign has The U letter head on it.

Should have taken officials to Hawaii, the Sorbonne in Paris, and the University of Prague.

So in what, 3 days, he has changed his visit plans 3 times?

And now you ******* guys are acting like it's set in stone?

I'm sure Golden is sitting there right now saying, "you know what Matthew I've recruited you for two years, go ahead and go to USC this weekend, I don't mind"

Havyee don't give it officials for that exact reason

The kids who commit, decommit, want to wait until signing day for all the attention instead of committing and trying to make the team better by going public and recruiting = primadonna to me. Biggest choice of their lives doesnt have to be made on signing day. Theyve been recruited for years now.

You guys are part of the reason these South FL kids are like this. Make every excuse in the book for them. Take your visits. Have fun. Then commit and start doing what is best for the team by recruiting. Theyve been saying signing day since they were 15 years old because they want the attention. Why is it a lot of kids from other parts of the country dont do all this nonsense? Why is it we have around 8 of our major targets still undecided a couple weeks from signing day?

He owes *****in and USC NOTHING. It's odd that he'd be "guilted" into anything like that. Did *****in hire a ****** mother as his recruiting coordinator? Makes no sense.

This, Kiffin is the scum of the college football world. Must have a serious duffle bag of cash he wants to show Matthew.

Pretty sure its been about the player since they started getting recruited. When does it become about the team and not them? Nobody answered my question. Why is it the kids from Jersey, Ohio, etc are on board and doing all they can from up there but so many of these South FL kids cant do the same. Not to take away from guys like Carter and Burns who committed early and stuck by it. Just too many South FL kids doing this to UM

Sorry, I don't jive with your rationale at all. "Doing this to UM". Doing what to UM? These kids are not obligated to the University of Miami and as you will see in the coming weeks after the attrition that we will see on the football roster, the University of Miami is not obligated to them. These kids have the right to make their decision in due time. They have a right to take their trips and see what is out there. Just because there are some exceptions who don't exercise that right, doesn't make the kids who do any more wrong. This decision is SOLELY a decision based on the best interest of the young man. You can cling to those ideologies of team, family, and unity all you want, but the bottom line is that this ain't the world that Michael Irvin, Jerome Brown, and Melvin Bratton grew up in. This is one of the most important business decisions that these dudes will ever make in their lives. They have the right to take every second to maximize their potential as a football player and as a man.

Interesting thread. Here's my thoughts on this thread and the issue at hand:

In this thread I see people whose opinions I respect w/r/t recruiting saying they are concerned. As am I. Matthew Thomas should take an OV to Miami but more importantly, he should be taking one THIS WEEKEND.

Kids who dont take an OV DO NOT COMMIT to that school. THAT is the rule. Yes, you can find a Jawand Blue, who was a plan C kid for coach Golden that ended up getting an offer extended to him the night before signing day and switched his commitment from Va Tech. Again, that is an exception.

Tracy Howard: Perfect example - TH said all along that he did not need to take an OV to UM because he knew the school and knew the area. Coach Golden was able to educate him as to why he was not making an apples to apples comparison. It was when TH took his OV that he really changed his mind. If you want proof, look at Tracy's mom's facebook posts about what it was like to have a one on one meeting (& photo sesh) with Donna Shalala. His (rather hot looking ;) mom was blown away by the FORMAL EXPERIENCE of an OV. To not grant UM the ability to provide an apples to apples comparison is to limit your knowledge of each school.

The importance of the last major recruiting weekend:
Every program brings in their heavy hitter recruits and commits on their last major recruiting weekend. Coach Golden has that set up for this weekend. This is the weekend where a top recruit can get the best feel for who he will room with, play with, study with and train with over the next four years. For MT to skip this weekend is an extremely negative development in my opinion.

FWIW

I respect that and agree with most of it. My point is there are too many of them coming from South FL. There is a prob a few of them who know **** well where they are going too. Some of them have been saying they want to wait until signing day when they were 15 years old. They wanted that attention and drama surrounding them from the get go. It is what it is. Its just not a coincidence that out of the remaining targets we are still after, Im pretty sure every one is from South FL. These kids had huge egos and they are continually stroked by the people giving them guidance in this whole process. You would think the kids from Jersey, Ohio, and anywhere else might be a little more hesitant about moving thousands of miles away than the ones who live close by.

Fine bro, I don't keep a spread sheet either, but lets just bet that its not that many. Like very few. I'll let some of those with better memories educate us all on the past to address my (somewhat) rhetorical question.

Why use up 1/5 OV's on a school a few miles from home is all i'm sayin.
Happens all the time.
Idk ask Tracy Howard

Tracy took an official the weekend before signing day.

Yeah that's my point I made it unclear I was responding to the guy who said why take a visit to a school so close

People the way I see it is if Al can get a kid from NJ to pick us over BOTH NC teams and his own hometown school he can get a kid to pick us over FSwho, nick Satan, and a school all across the country that (as Stephen a smith would say) "FLAGRANTLY FAILED to live up to expectations", a kid that lives twenty minutes away from CG and who btw has said on multiple occasions that he would love to see his mom at his games...I would not see surprised to see this kid change his visit plans again whether it be this weekend or the following two weeks

As long as 6 visits Miami at some point then I don't see it as that big of an issue. However, to expect Miami to land ALL of these undecided SF kids seems unrealistic and contrary to history. We will get our share but we can expect to lose one, maybe two.

of course I'd rather have him here this weekend (and I still think that could happen. these kids show up for OVs at the last minute pretty frequently) BUT I still think the kid is a Cane all the way. he will come on an OV. hopefully this weekend.

**** Kiffen and Tee martin ******* dirtbags
