USC guilts Matt Thomas into sticking with his plan....

I hate it that he's getting an official to FSU but not here. I'm not saying he's not going to sign here, but this isn't a positive development. There's no reason for this kid to trip to USC or Georgia other than ***** and giggles. If it's really a UM-FSU battle you'd sure hope that UM isn't the school that doesn't get the OV. No chicken little, but spade's a spade, this isn't optimal.

sorry bro as i don't keep tabs, but the point is that he has been here and seen the goods. if it was a tampa/orlando/etc kid who hasn't been on campus at all or as much it would be a bigger concern.
Fine bro, I don't keep a spread sheet either, but lets just bet that its not that many. Like very few. I'll let some of those with better memories educate us all on the past to address my (somewhat) rhetorical question.

Why use up 1/5 OV's on a school a few miles from home is all i'm sayin.
Happens all the time.
Idk ask Tracy Howard

i will. Maybe Tracy Howard will tell me how great his Official Visit was the weekend of Jan 27 2012 to MIAMI was:

..so many Howard posts so I will leave this here!

The latest on Tracy Howard..
-As reported the UM visit went very well..
-Howard was really impressed with UM coaching staff & all the love he got from other recruits..
-UF coaches are not feeling good after speaking with him on Sunday night.
-It's now considered a 50/50 battle between UM & UF..
----------------------------------

sorry bro hate to let facts get in the way, want to try again?

My last thought on the topic because I have no desire to be around a bunch of soft shouldered folk, but maybe this is an instance where AG may want to reconsider his stance on negative recruiting. Is it really negative recruiting to point to the kid what is going on at SC? With them pulling kids scholly's and the team hating Lane?

No. That's not meant to be an answer to your question. Simply, "no."

It's a conversation, nothing soft about discussing why one of our biggest targets feels guilted in going on an official to 5 other schools, to talk to coaches he will likely never again come feb, if he is such the lock that you think he is calling people **** and soft.

its a fair question, nothing to do with soft.

There is no way that this isn't negative, I'd think. No official visit to the school where he's supposed to attend?

This the problem with our neck of the woods. Yes, it's chock-full of talent but a lot of these kids are flakes and keep us hanging until the end.

The prob with our "neck of the woods" is everybody and their dog recruits the crap out of the area. I can understand a young dude getting caught up in it. **** grown *** folks get caught up in it. Is it Feb 6 yet?

We better just start preparing for him not to be coming to Miami. That way if he does it is just a bonus. Seems to be too many little things that just point to him going elsewhere.

"But then USC coach Tee Martin visited with Thomas at Booker T. yesterday and the star recruit decided he would head to California this weekend after all.

"He had it that way in the first place, so he went back to his original set-up," Booker T. Washington coach Tim Harris said. "You know how kids are. They want to make everyone happy but they have to stick to the plan and let it run, stuff like that. We're just trying to get them to get a plan and stick to it."

Harris says Thomas doesn't have a set visit date for UM right now, but that it will likely be a mid-week visit since Thomas does not want to take any visits the weekend before Signing Day in order to figure out which college he'll attend. Harris said most likely the UM visit will be for the Duke basketball game next Wednesday but that Thomas is "trying to set it up now."

Asked if Miami coaches were upset when they learned Thomas wouldn't be visiting this weekend, Harris said, "I wouldn't say upset, but they thought it was happening and stuff like that. But they knew somebody else was moved already, and when you still have an open window you still can move back. That can happen in the process too, especially with Miami not being in a situation where you have to buy a plane ticket."

Is this a bad sign for UM with Thomas?

"No, I don't think it's a bad thing for Miami with him," Harris said. "I just think he had the schedule originally set that way. Kids don't want to say no. He stuck to what the plan was because it gets too confusing at that point (to reschedule the USC visit). He went off the schedule and now he'll keep the schedule he had originally.

"He feels good about Miami, but he has to keep everything professional as a young man. We're trying to guide him through that process, educate him and his parents about it as much as possible."

Stop being retards mane

He's not gonna be a Cane.

People can spin this as much as they want, but I dont see this as a good thing. If this kid's heart is with UM and he wants to be here, then he wouldnt be cancelling visits here and being guilted into going to USC on a visit he had pretty much cancelled. Something is not adding up here. Someone is pushing him elsewhere, either parents, or coaches, but a kid who is supposedly a Cane at heart doesnt cancel an OV to go to USC out of guilt unless he has some legit interest.

I hope Im wrong, but I dont take this as a positive sign.

People don't want to see the forest for the trees. It's pretty much a guarantee that Thomas is not gonna be a Trojan. So what this says is he doesn't want to visit Miami for the big weekend and be pressured to commit.

The kid obviously doesn't like to let ppl down. That's why he's been stringing us along. As much as I hate, hate, hate to say it, sounds like the kid will be a Nole.

whatever happens, I'll sleep well that night knowing that the staff did everything humanly possible to land the kid. The only slightly alarming thing I'll take is that while this staff has proven capable enough as recruiters in general, and more specifically as it pertains to identifying targets and changing minds, their recruiting in south florida itself, while not suspect, hasn't really blown me away yet. But when it comes to Matthew Thomas specifically, I'm quite sure they didn't get outworked.

It's Tuesday. Let it play out.

Yeah I bet al is gonna send his sidekicks barrow and Mario to make sure he's here, al will visit him personally later

This. Golden and Co. realizes the importance of this kid to the class and are not going to let him get away without a fight. I am sure Al already has two plans in place; one for if he does end up coming this weekend and one if they have to schedule a makeshift week day visit. There is always a plan. Let things play out.

What we are missing here is a huge point. Most of the kids in Miami don't come from money or have extra money just to take trips. This kid may never really get the chance to travel to Cali (unless it works out for him that he makes it to and in the NFL). He gets hotel, food and entertainment for free. It cost a lot less to drive to Coral Gables then it does to fly to Cali. Go enjoy the trip young man you have worked for it, just remember on NSD that the letter you sign has The U letter head on it.

Btw, if this is true and he really did reschedule for the 2nd, why are you flipping out?

Pretty good odds that Golden and Barrow see him off for his flight?

According to the article, he's not taking any visits the last week so he can focus on making a decision.

He's trying to set up an unofficial for next Wednesday.

Give me an example of a local kid ever we have signed that didn't take official visit? It has never happened.

The official visit is the most important part of the process.

Robert Lockhart, DeQuan Ivery, and Jawand Blue. All within the past two years. Just off the top of my head, and confirmed on their rivals pages showing no visit date. Pretty ******* far from 'It has never happened.'

Negged.
