USC guilts Matt Thomas into sticking with his plan....

he is a miami kid and has been on campus plenty. maybe he wants to come to miami and wants a free trip to LA. I don't blame the kid
ok, how many Miami kids come to miami ultimately without taking an official visit.....?

sorry bro as i don't keep tabs, but the point is that he has been here and seen the goods. if it was a tampa/orlando/etc kid who hasn't been on campus at all or as much it would be a bigger concern.
Fine bro, I don't keep a spread sheet either, but lets just bet that its not that many. Like very few. I'll let some of those with better memories educate us all on the past to address my (somewhat) rhetorical question.

Why use up 1/5 OV's on a school a few miles from home is all i'm sayin.
Happens all the time.

Give me an example of a local kid ever we have signed that didn't take official visit? It has never happened.

The official visit is the most important part of the process.

The kids meet with administrators, academic support people, coaches, etc.

Frankly, I don't think we would ever take a kid that used his 5 official visits on other schools as a matter of principal. Not that we would even have a chance to.....kid is not serious about a school he doesn't trip to.

So, if true, whats the implication of this? I mean, can USC compel the kid to travel? I don´t understand the rules...

Thanks in advance

"But then USC coach Tee Martin visited with Thomas at Booker T. yesterday and the star recruit decided he would head to California this weekend after all.

"He had it that way in the first place, so he went back to his original set-up," Booker T. Washington coach Tim Harris said. "You know how kids are. They want to make everyone happy but they have to stick to the plan and let it run, stuff like that. We're just trying to get them to get a plan and stick to it."

Harris says Thomas doesn't have a set visit date for UM right now, but that it will likely be a mid-week visit since Thomas does not want to take any visits the weekend before Signing Day in order to figure out which college he'll attend. Harris said most likely the UM visit will be for the Duke basketball game next Wednesday but that Thomas is "trying to set it up now."

Asked if Miami coaches were upset when they learned Thomas wouldn't be visiting this weekend, Harris said, "I wouldn't say upset, but they thought it was happening and stuff like that. But they knew somebody else was moved already, and when you still have an open window you still can move back. That can happen in the process too, especially with Miami not being in a situation where you have to buy a plane ticket."

Is this a bad sign for UM with Thomas?

"No, I don't think it's a bad thing for Miami with him," Harris said. "I just think he had the schedule originally set that way. Kids don't want to say no. He stuck to what the plan was because it gets too confusing at that point (to reschedule the USC visit). He went off the schedule and now he'll keep the schedule he had originally.

"He feels good about Miami, but he has to keep everything professional as a young man. We're trying to guide him through that process, educate him and his parents about it as much as possible."

Stop being retards mane

Lets see him say no to Barrow when he calls him later in the week and makes his pitch AGAIN for Matt to visit this weekend.

"Redlands (Calif.) East Valley High School and USC coach Lane Kiffin are at odds thanks to a deferred scholarship.
Defensive end Kylie Fitts, a four-star recruit Rivals ranked seventh nationally at his position, was committed to USC and took extra high school classes so he could graduate early and enroll at the university in January.
Fitts talked to a couple USC coaches at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 5 and they said they were ready to have him on campus. But the following Monday, he received a call saying his scholarship was no longer available for the spring semester.

Fitts was supposed to be on campus on Jan. 10.

The Trojans didn't pull his scholarship entirely, but deferred him to the fall. However, since Fitts had already graduated high school, he had nowhere to go and didn't want to wait.
“Recruiting man, it’s crazy,” Redlands East Valley coach Kurt Bruich told the Riverside Press-Enterprise. “He’s wanted to go to USC for as long as he can remember and now he feels betrayed. He did everything he was supposed to do from his end and he was a loyal kid. I think they thought because of that loyalty he’d still want to go there. He said to me ‘What am I supposed to do for the next five months?’ It seems shady. I think it seems shady to everyone.”

I'm just sayin Matt

Kylie needs to come to the U. Get on it Golden.

He's not gonna be a Cane.

People can spin this as much as they want, but I dont see this as a good thing. If this kid's heart is with UM and he wants to be here, then he wouldnt be cancelling visits here and being guilted into going to USC on a visit he had pretty much cancelled. Something is not adding up here. Someone is pushing him elsewhere, either parents, or coaches, but a kid who is supposedly a Cane at heart doesnt cancel an OV to go to USC out of guilt unless he has some legit interest.

I hope Im wrong, but I dont take this as a positive sign.

USC is a train wreck right now. I am not sure what they put in the water out there to get kids to go. If anything I would understand UCLA at this point if you really just wanted to be in LA. Not to mention if you've been out there USC is in a rough part of town while UCLA is right next to Beverly Hills.

People don't want to see the forest for the trees. It's pretty much a guarantee that Thomas is not gonna be a Trojan. So what this says is he doesn't want to visit Miami for the big weekend and be pressured to commit.

The kid obviously doesn't like to let ppl down. That's why he's been stringing us along. As much as I hate, hate, hate to say it, sounds like the kid will be a Nole.

I'm in California training athletes and I have 2 former USC guys that are not a fan of Kiffin.
Also people around here are starting to realize he is a snake that has never really been a successful coach. Gets by on his last name and the fact he was lucky enough to OC a group that I could have won with.
