"Upward trend" - Latest Vish/Sebastianpub Analysis

If I was the AD, I would fire Onofrio and hire Butch as DC as a message to him and present this info to him as the reason why Onofrio has been fired. Then, if Golden leaves I immediately make Butch HC.

Hey Golden - Don't **** on my back and tell me its rain water. We've played that game for 3 years now and I'm not falling for it anymore. Thanks for posting a real analysis. Hopefully someone shows this to Al at his presser today. Would love to see how he spins it off.

Agree the D is pathetic. No more Shannon players. Get it done this year or GTFO if you keep Corch D on staff

Look at the stats from the OP. Shannon and Shannon players were actually WAY better than we've seen the last 2 years with Al.

Golden has done the impossible.... I officially miss Randy Shannon and his defense.

(OMG. I can't believe I just typed that.)

we just like to complain.. is the defense where it needs to be? no. was it improved over last year? yes. Did i think the defense played well early in the bowl game? yes. but they couldn't hold up for 4 quarters, especially with how bad the offense was.

That's why dummies like Golden always wind up hanging themselves. They delude themselves into thinking they're smarter than they are and that all they have to do is spew out some nonsense, and all the gullible idiots will just lap it up. He went on Fat Head Rose's show with a pile of stats that some rube put together for him in an effort to dupe the gullible masses into thinking that what they are seeing with their eyes isn't what is actually happening--that his defense is a toilet, and it's worse than it's ever been.

Instead of just coming on and saying, "Joe, we know we're struggling badly on defense, and we need to fix this immediately because it's unacceptable" that empty-headed swindler gets on the air and starts shot-gunning excuses and fudged stats in an attempt to convince us the unfathomable--that his defense is trending positively. He's a liar, a swindler and a con man. And I have no use for him. Putz.

How did the defense improve?

were we not better in a majority of statistical categories? If so, that's an improvement. People seem to forget that golden and Donof put out a solid defense their first year here when our defense had better, more mature players than we've had the past two seasons... that's probably not coincidental.

he sounds like a guy who wanted the job and wasn't confident they would offer...or they flat out told him they are going in another direction...I don't buy for one second that he turned them down.

He may still be waiting for an answer, but he couldn't go ghost today. So he whipped up some bs like he did with the stats that are trending upward and threw it at the wall. His slupers have bought it hook line and sinker.

per football outsiders, our defensive FEI looks like this:

2013: 89th

2012: 94th

2011: 71st

2010: 14th

2009: 20th

2008: 62nd

2007: 26th

DFEI is opponent-adjusted def efficiency.

"The Fremeau Efficiency Index (FEI) considers each of the nearly 20,000 possessions every season in major college football. All drives are filtered to eliminate first-half clock-kills and end-of-game garbage drives and scores. A scoring rate analysis of the remaining possessions then determines the baseline possession efficiency expectations against which each team is measured. A team is rewarded for playing well against good teams, win or lose, and is punished more severely for playing poorly against bad teams than it is rewarded for playing well against bad teams."

No. We did not improve statistically. We regressed in conference play.

Never thought I'd miss Randy
