Tulane QB Darian Mensah enters the Portal

Agreed Raiolas ceiling is way up there. But you mentioned plug and play readiness and youthfulness, both of which are questionable for Raiola as well. He could just as easily go in and be the reason we lose to ND to start the season due to his periodic recklessness as he would be the reason we win. I'd be happy with either of the two, but neither would be an early season, calm and steady influence

Absolutely right. But if I’m a gambling man I’m putting my money on elite measurables and big game experience.

Just looked it up and it is the same Mario Williams and he rebounded big time this season after last year at USC. He almost had 1k yards. Wouldn't mind seeing him down here with Mensah

Williams is going pro from what I've heard

That's not my point. My point is, I'm not sure he's worth it.
He's already the hot QB name in the portal. Outside of Mateer not going to OK, or Nussmeier or Raiola entering the portal, there aren't too many QBs who would be more coveted. If someone needs a QB they will likely have no choice but to pay 7 figures for a Mensah or Arnold level prospect given the hugh demand and limited supply.

Still think we should break every NCAA rule to try to get LaNorris Sellers in portal. His OC left for App St HC gig.

I think Mensah would eventually do well here, but I don't think many appreciate that it'll probably take time and there will be growing pains (i.e. more turnovers), which doesn't go well with our early schedule next year and everyone's expectations.

Pretty sure his brother just signed with S Carolina, and S Carolina has enough NIL they will lock in their top players. Sellers is already a legend for beating Clemson.

Thanks for the info. Dang it, sounds like no chance for my pipe dream then

For all the tulane film experts how good is this guy. I never heard of him before today. Did he face any tough competition there
Yes! He had 4 games over 250 yards pass say cis.
If they can’t turn Emory into this Tulane kid, we need to have a coaching search.
Kid had 2700 yards the whole season and we want to give him 7 FIGURES !!!!
You CAN’T make this up, Miami has become the SUCKERS of College Football

I think he only started one season in high school too. There's not a lot to go off of.

If they feel like he's the guy they want to invest in then I'll trust their judgement.

I'd honestly be a little surprised if they feel comfortable meeting his asking price though.

Now that he's officially in the portal, I would anticipate Miami having interest in the redshirt freshman quarterback. A young, talented passer with plenty of upside, Mensah should be viewed as a legitimate option for the Hurricanes this transfer cycle as the Hurricanes continue to explore other situations. David had a nice breakdown of Mensah on Sunday. - Gaby
