True or untrue: Virginia Tech is in better shape than Miami as a program

These are fair points. My rebuttal:

-While it's just year one under Diaz, this has the feel of the same old thing and the fans weren't going to be fooled this time.
-Recruiting rankings don't matter as much when you're dysfunctional from top to bottom, as both programs currently are.
-Miami's transfers haven't quite paid dividends to this point.
The transfers were jags I wasn’t excited for any except Osborn to me all others were trash......the UCLA kid to I liked

Beamer was slipping at the end. He was 24-40-2 from 1987-1992 (pretty amazing he avoided the ax), 185-58 from 1993-2011 and 28-23 from 2012-2015. He got pressured into retirement, and pretty much Hokie fans felt it was time for him to go.

Little did they know how bad Fuente would be.

Why does everyone keep saying that was a bad duke team? Cutcliffe is a good coach and their offensive scheme looks pretty solid. Not saying they’re Clemson but they’re not a bad team. Clearly well coached
I should ave chosen a different word than "bad". I think Cutcliffe is the most underrated coach in America. I respect him immensely as a coach and his teams always reflect how well coached they are. Having said that, I believe the 2019 team will prove to be "bad" on his standards vs, say, some of his Daniel Jones-led teams. I just don't think they have the roster this year to maintain their performance thus far. When all is said and done, I believe that 30+pt whipping will look very bad re VT at the end of the year rather than Duke looking like some legit squad. I could be wrong. But that's what I meant, not that Duke is garbage. Duke is never garbage under Cutcliffe.

Miami fans like to point and laugh at VT because they had some players hit the portal recently and were awful the last time they took the field. You guys don't see any parallels?

You cherry picked 20 games. Why not 5? Why not 24?

The most annoying aspect of this thread (setting aside the sheer cvckery of it all) is that it's painfully obvious based on your responses that you are advancing the position that UM is in as bad or worse a place, as a program, as VT right now. But rather than stick your chest out and make a straight-forward thread, your OP title poses a question. You've intentionally set this up, in true troll fashion, to entice actual Canes fans to respond with a pro-Canes answer, while you lie in wait to provide your little rebuttals.

Don't get me wrong, it's solid trolling, Rok, but it's also transparent and dishonest. I just wish I could say I expected better...

I don't have strong enough conviction to support the argument for either team. I thought it was a legitimate discussion to have but I'm aware of the limitations and reservations that many fans have when forced to be introspective and honest. Some people here agree that it's a reasonably worthy subject to kick around. I'm sorry some of you can't handle it.

Who is incapable of honesty and introspection?

Here's the thing....

I'm not an if's and but's guy....you are who you are, and the games we lost, we lost. No excuses. The CMU game was a travesty. No excuses.

But take a step back for just a second. Let's play a hypothetical (which I know we don't do in this black and white world, but humor me for 30 seconds of your life).

On 8/24, with 1 minute left in the game, Miami had a 2nd and 10 on the UF 24 yard line. How bout Williams steps up in the pocket, throws a strike, and Miami wins. Literally 1 play. And not a hail mary, not a 12 lateral return (I see you, Corn). Just 1 normal football play.

2 weeks later, Miami has UNC facing a 4th and 17. Howell drops back, fires a pass, Trajan Bandy sinks in coverage and knocks it away. Miami wins. Literally 1 play. And not a hail mary, not a 12 lateral return (I still see you, Corn). Just 1 normal football play.

Miami is 2-0, they stomp Bethune, then lay the egg against CMU. Wow, that was ugly, but we won. 4-0 baby. I ABSOLUTELYGUARAN****INGTEE all of you that there would be no culture problems. There would be no fire Manny threads. There would be no fire Enos threads. We would not be nitpicking every sentence a coach says in a press conference he's required to do when he'd rather be doing literally anything else. ALL of you would be walking around with your Miami t-shirts, sticking your chest out, talking smack to all your FSU and UF homeboys, making Manny memes, tweeting #TNM every **** day....all that happy horsechit.

But instead, Jarren gets sacked on 8/24 (one football play), UNC picks up the 4th and 17 (one football play), and we've got posters on here saying "fold the program". How does that make any sense at all? NOBODY is happy with where the program is right now. We DID lose those games, and that's unacceptable. So I'm not saying that everything should be rainbows and lollipops, but give me a break with the tear down the program after 4 games nonsense. NONE of you know how this thing is going to play out. And if it does play out how many of you sorry asses really want it to, and Manny fails, you DID NOT know it was going to happen.

So yes, we didn't win, and we're ****ed. But spare me the "every program is better than Miami", and we have a culture problem, and we'll never win another game, and we should fold the program, and all that shortsighted, reactionary, female nonsense. Be ****ed, sure, but have some **** perspective. And for the love of Christ, stop ******* crying about every single thing.

4th and 17. Just reading it makes my blood boil. Saturday will be interesting.

Record over the last 20 games:

VT 10-10
Miami (Fla.) 9-11
We’re in the exact same spot, both of us. The only difference is there getting rid of there corch this year and we have to wait another 2 years to get rid of ours. This game will say a lot about both programs, if it looks just like the CMU game then it’s official, we both suck!

I made the argument the argument that UVA’s program is in better shape than ours and was accused of being a troll.

I think you’re trolling for real.
Agree, bronco is a good coach, just like Mullen. And we’re stuck thanks to Blake and his “national search” with a guy who never played the game and only knowledge of football came from working production at espn. Lmao all you can do is laugh to keep from crying! Smh

I’m not ready to give up on Manny. But I need to see Enos make adjustments to mask our weaknesses, week-to-week improvement at every level on D, and an ability to adjust at the half. Manny did such a great job with the D last two years, shame he hasn’t been able to keep the D churning while spreading his mantra across the team. Time will tell, but looking like banners will fly sooner rather than later.

Agreed. We start losing as 14 point favorites, all bets are off. But Christ, pump the brakes on the nonstop whining right now.
I just think CFB has the haves and the have nots. The haves are the top five teams give or take every year and then the rest of the minions. I don’t like it but it is probably reality.
