Time to Dial Back the Luke Nickel Love?

You don’t think Dawson was on the Emory train? Lol You’re wrong. Do you think we get Beck if the bowl debacle doesn’t happen? Emory was the next man up until that happened. After this spring, it was a blessing in disguise.
Usually if you trust your quarterback you don’t call 15 straight running plays and only decide to pass the ball when the defense starts committing the entire unit to stopping the run. There’s nothing about the game plan in ANY game that Emory played in (outside of blowout mop ups) that leads me to believe Dawson had any faith in him at all. If they could have run the ball the entire second half of the Pop Tarts bowl without throwing a single pass, they would have. They brought in Reese Poffenbarger for insurance last season just in case they couldn’t get a top tier portal QB simply because they don’t trust Emory.

I know they tell the press how well everyone is practicing and David Lake and the CIS sunshine squad said Emory Williams was the next great thing but none of our coaches’ actions aligned with that.

Solid qb recruit but i never understood the hype, doesn’t really have any traits that are above average

People said same howell but he was athletic and had crazy arm talent, and still was mid lol

Qb class wasn’t great so I wasn’t mad that we locked in with him but it’s another year where we just shutdown qb recruiting for a mid or project qb, i don’t understand it

Its super early tho so i hope im wrong, we need to hit on a qb in recruiting, even if its just a average starter

3 of the top 5 recruits in the country were qbs lol. Luke Nickel has looked good in spring practice so far, so idk why everyone is freaking out

Who are these people that called Luke Nickel a “savior”? Can you produce some receipts?

There’s a massive difference between calling him a savior and simply being frustrated that Emory looked like fresh wet mierda in the bowl game. Your overuse of absolutes as superlatives is the biggest crime of this post.

Looking forward to seeing all 3 QBs in the Spring game. Zero insight into how they have been doing this Spring. Frankly when we were good, the QBs never looked good and the defenses owned the Spring. We need our defense to own the Spring.

I think most want him to get as many reps as possible to be as ready as possible because of what we have seen with Emory. He is an EE, so let him be the guy holding things down for Beck.
Exactly. We know what we got in Emory. I’m not an anti-Judd guy only because we’ve never seen him play but it’s March. Im as big a Nickel fan as anyone here but I still think we should look to the portal again next year because it just makes sense

In the meantime if Nickel or Coleman catches on then boom, money saved for somewhere else

Yes, because Emory and Judd were just that bad.

If you can't comprehend that, you should just move over to the F$U and Gator sites. They would LOVE your brand of stupidity and stubbornness over there.
So if they are truly that bad, it should probably be an issue that Nickel is operating behind them on the depth chart. And don't tell me that eight spring football practices isn't enough time to see a quarterback's talent when there are freshmen all over the country working the 1s at their respective schools.

Yeah after watching him blow through one of the toughest football states and then go almost perfect in the state final I sat back and said "Yeah I'm just not impressed" LOL

OMG we have some of the worst posters ever on this board. We got one guy saying our Freshman QB who has basically just moved in and started practicing a month ago is a bust and another one saying a kid (who I like a lot as a QB) who got out played by our Freshman WR who had to play QB is better than Nickel right now. WOW

I thought Grassy had some bad posters but CIS is on a whole other level.
No one said bust...but hey, reading is hard.

There are freshman quarterbacks all over the place that are vying for the starting job right now and ours isn't close to ready.

That doesn't mean he is a bust, but it doesn't mean he is a superstar either. It means he is likely on the same trajectory as Emory...and we should be planning on hitting the portal for the next two to three seasons.
