Time for Robby Washington to step up at CB

Brown should have stayed here and played with his bro. He jumped ship to go play for a sorry team. He could be starting here right now.

Cormani also screwed us over. And he played us well. Instead of going after another top flight corner, we thought we had him in the bag. Then he jumped ship and it was too late. That left a glaring hole in that CB class and we are seeing the effects of it right now. I guess he got the last laugh even though he is trash.

I think someone asked Guidry about this last week/couple weeks ago and Guidry basically he tends to stick with guys who he has “trust” in, but that’s really code for who Guidry has experience with.

In the same way Guidry waits out opposing offenses to revert to film tendencies, Guidry waits to make changes in starting lineup until it’s beyond obvious to make change.

We are playing with fire with our defensive personnel decisions, initial defensive and play calls.

Zaquan starting next week is only because Richard got hurt. So Guidry gets little credit for that adjustment. Need to make the adjustments that we can give him credit for. And with some urgency.
Idk who’s worse meesh or 7 both are **** poor safeties

Looked like they moved pieces around when he went down. Brought in ZP as the deep safety, kept Harris as strong safety (though Quan also stuffed that run coming downhill beautifully), moved Powell to Nickel and Porter to outside. Did I track that right? How do people feel about that?

I want to see more Robby less Dion’s personally. Also, OJF is a baller. Only one who consistently tracks the ball and he’s a true freshman.
That’s the right lineup for us after injury. Only works if we scrap the incessant man coverage though

I mean I’d be ****** too if I was our best outside CB last year and I got moved to the Nickel and I have to be play chase all ******* game with guys in motion. DPJ might be lacking some assertiveness but Guidry isn’t helping by any means.
Agree but as a vet on the team, in the db room with young guys that kinda effort is bull**** and what we’re trying to get rid of as a program

He stepped up in a void when his stock was rising outside so I respect him. If you get beat thats fine its football and you’re in a new position but just bad effort? Naw man cant have it, its on film so lets see how he responds

You right. I just wish Guidry made it easier on the Nickel position knowing we don’t have a true one. I’m not a coach and never have been, but that position looks tough as **** to play from a fan point of view in this system.

The fact we didn’t get more DBs out of the portal is what screwed us not McClain specifically. We could have picked up Antoine Jackson too just didn’t want him. I haven’t watched enough UCF games to see how he’s doing so won’t judge staff for not taking him back. But someone, anyone who could be good or better would have been nice. I place the blame fully on the coaches for that.

Agreed. Looking at the depth chart, it is scary how thin we are at CB. We lose one more starter and we are hosed. We will also see Mooyang - a walk on - get some action this week. From a small sample size, he seems decent and players speak well of him. This might be his Rudy moment.

Meesh is far better than Harris. Powell had a stretch of 2 bad games vs Va tech and cal but he’s rebounded well and has been back playing solid. Harris just is still terrible all together
Idk how they continue to put Harris out there. They said he was a + athlete but I don’t see it looks slow plays slow take awful angles. But Guidry gonna Guidry I guess

He is unplayable, doesnt seem to have the feel for safety and angles and such, does know gaps or assignments, just a liability out there.

I never see him just fill the alley on outside runs properly. He doesn’t trust himself to just play he’s thinking too much. I hope they give stafford a chance at nickle and go mesh and Zay at safety. But it looks like it’s gonna be mesh at nickle

Yep. Coaches need to get players ready. Next man up, right? When you did not fill the gaps in the portal, your job is to prepare the roster you do have to play. Week 10 and we are seeing the same 3 players get abused.

Robby Washington, Bobby Washington, George Washington... get them ready to play.

9-0 Let’s go!!!

Nothing says u can’t start a freshmen at safety. Kitchens did
I agree 100% but guidry has said it and his actions show he doesnt like to rotate his safeties. He has no choice now but he says they are supposed to make calls but for some reason everyone wide open, so I dont know

Mack is an interesting conversation. Forgot about him. Is he definitely playing corner? He is listed as S on his recruiting profile.
