Tim "Lice" Harris is a joke thread

I thought FSU and Miami were neck and neck for Kirkland? Why has FSU been eliminated? If Ole Miss and Arkansas are his final two that means that Kirkland and Thomas are not a package deal. So I would table some of this talk that this effects landing Thomas in some way.

It means a heck of a lot more than just that.

I don't know if this has been discussed because I've only looked at the first post so far. But does anyone else remember Kirk claiming a couple of weeks ago that he would announce on Feb. 1 because he wanted to give the schools he didn't choose a chance to fill his spot with someone else? What do you think the chances are that he and UM made that agreement? I think they're pretty strong.

All of a sudden, Kirk tells UM he's going to wait till signing day because, as Ice said last night, this is a big decision, and Kirk's still not certain where he's going. UM wanted assurance from him that he'd commit to them by Feb. 1, as they likely originally agreed upon, and Kirk said no again. So, they pulled the plug because they smelled a rat and needed to make sure they filled that spot with someone.

Let's not also lose track of the fact that UM set up a big signing day event with ESPN, and the last thing UM wants is for some punk to throw the UM hat on the ground and do an Irish jig on it. They wanted assurance from Kirk, and Kirk decided he didn't want to give it to them. I don't buy this whole deal about Ice not knowing about a deadline. It reeks of **** to me because that Feb. 1 announcement was discussed 2 weeks ago.

Like I said last nigh, I'll ride with Alshermond. The Don has been super precise with EVERYTHING he's done with recruiting and developing this programs since he got here. Does anyone honestly think he'd fly off the handle and make some irrational decision on a whim that might blow up in his face?

exactly. you $aid it

SEC is dirty as ****. $$$$$$$$$$$$. What do you do when you hear a kid took the bait. You cut bait and cut the fish. Last thing we need is more NCAA problems.

I really dont get this whole situation; from most reports(mainly Ice Harris) Miami said it was a numbers thing; I just cant wrap my head around that. It makes absolutely no sense.

1. You dont pull a kids offer 6 days before NSD because he wont commit, especially with the possible backlash.
--- who cares if he grabs the FSU hat; you have to put your pride aside and make the logical decision.

2. IF it really is a numbers crunch, so what if we oversigned by one. And if he picked the noles it wouldnt even affect the numbers.

3. You have to just let it ride out until national signing day,

I guess my point is: Why was it such a necessity to pull his offer? Why was it worth pulling his offer? Why not just leave it on the table and deal with it on NSD.

With all that being said, I think there HAS to be more to it than a numbers cruch.

I could see C4L scenario being a possibity, but my only question it why not just let it ride, how could it really hurt us that bad? To avoid being dissed? or oversigning by one?

What am I missing?

I don't post often here, mainly observe and read but I wanted to comment on this situation. First, this is a business whether people want to admit it or not. A scholly to UM is worth in the ball park of $250K (4 years) x 20 per yr (avg) = Approximately $5m per year, and YES I get in the long run the Football Program is making that multiple times over at the end of the day. Golden and Co made a business decision, this stuff happens EVERY day in recruiting it just so happens it has happened with a premier program in our own backyard (BTW). If the kid wanted to come to Miami that bad he would have or could have made a commit, silent, etc. All of these kids, not just DK, want to play the game, string schools along, flip has, flip commits, etc and it is "this is a big decision for this student athletes future" Agreed! However, when a school plays their hand and pulls an offer or pressures a kid to commit they are put on blast, ripped and fans go into a frenzy when an offer is pulled. Again, this is a business and if the kid wants to use his recruitment as a bargaining tool or way to draw attention to himself then he needs to realize all is fair game. Yes, some kids will be given a chance to wait until NSD, others will have to give a committment sooner......again part of doing business and the way life is. In my job if I am recruited by a competitor to come to work as a CEO and am higly sought after that company is going to let me slow play them......they aren't going to be as patient with the Accounting Manager or HR Manager or Warehouse Manager they are trying to bring on board. So let things play out, Golden knows what he is doing and has done this for a long time now. IF a BTW kid wants to come to UM and wants to be a Cane this isnt going to sway them away.

This is why FSU and SEC schools close well over us. We'll be in it for a kid until real late and then whoosh, the cash flies in the last week of recruiting and the big schools all of the sudden "close well". I can smell it coming.

And I'm riding with The 'Chise on this.

So far - Ice Harris - who in my opinion should have kept quiet from the press on this, but he's defending his player so I guess he gets a pass, - is the ONLY side we are hearing.

Golden Didn't become stupid overnight.

Golden has brought in 2 SUPER recruiters along with himself and Barrow. To think that they ALL dropped the ball on this .. LOL Remember - Perception is one thing but Reality is another.

There is something that went on with this recruitment that turned UM away from DKirk... Period.

We all were riding with Golden before this but Now he's the dumbest man on earth.... all in on day.

Gotta love recruiting

JC

Another point, in Manny's interview Ice is quoted as "I won't stop anybody from going to UM, but I can tell you I'll never help them again", then I just read that he offered to call UM last night and try to get scholly back. Those two things don't jive.

At this point Ice is protecting his player. He just said him and Barrow are close friends. No way there was a breakdown of communication, there was a verbal understanding and some reneged on the agreement. So instead of the bulls eye on an 18 year old kid, Ice made it about him and his relationship. That is what a coach should do publicly, hopefully privately this is a teaching point.

BTW and UM will be fine.

So Kirkland was so distraught that he didn't want Ice to call Miami coaches so he could tell them he would commit?

Yep, sounds like someone who was gonna end up here.

Lets just say for a second that the UM staff blew it big and suddenly stopped knowing how to handle things like Ice and others are declaring. Like they suddenly would begrudge just this ONE recruit his moment in the sun. If you were that recruit, and you wanted UM so bad, would you not just suck it up, tell the coaches I commit, and if they wanted you to go public, scramble to do public thing the very next day, knowing you would of course get a lot of coverage even if not quite as much as waiting. At least you would go to school of choice.

but if the signing day thing was soooo important to you that you would choose another school over um in order to have it, how into um does that make him seem. Razor thin edge until the coaches play suddenly pushed him in other direction?

Yeah um, that sounds plausible.... If you are in total denial that a kid was messing with um, had 9 months to commit and now is freaking out over 6 days? No way ami going with that. I don't think al, coley , Mario, and barrow got dumb suddenly vs Harris and do thinking they could still get away w games, think that do was the same int the board as AC or 6. MAYBE, there was some slight miscommunication. But that's just a maybe.

Have to be honest, those worried about Ice's "positive influence" on these kids to Miami should revisit recent history:
Golden has targeted 2 kids from BTW during his tenure (to my recollection)
1) Thomas- 50/50 at best
2) Kirkland- Miami only in "Top 3" less than 2 weeks out & that's the BTW version.
Is it possible that Ice is either not helping Miami already, or has little to no influence on his kids?

Coley, Barrow and Cristobal are probably the 3 most tied in coaches in the entire country to the Miami recruiting scene. Golden is kinda new to it but is a master recruiter and politician. These guys know what they are doing.

^^They call him The Franchise for a reason.

I think Radio called in a favor and ICE is going to deliver Kirk to ARK to put Randy back on the map. Our coaches are not stupid.

You get it. Ice isn't as pro UM as everybody seems to think.
