The Work 2-3

Not sure where all this extra scholarships laying around bull**** is coming from because is simply not the case. Right now, Miami sits with with 56 players on 'ships. That's counting the graduates and Bunche leaving. We have 26 commits which puts us at 82. We have 9 ships that have to give up over a three year period, so this puts us right on track.

Lastly, I can see perhaps signing one or two more considering grades and attrition.....but there is no gross mismanagement of 'ships being left on the table...

First, the 9 ships can be taken at any time over 3 years. Sure they could take 3 each year but they can split it a different way as well.

Second, the school is trying to claim that they some of the ships they self-imposed last year should count towards the 9. Not saying it will work, just this is where the school may have some additional ships.
Third, not sure if the 56 number is correct but that is neither here nor there.

This was already denied. And while we can move the nine around over the 3 years, it's been stated they're planning to be at 82 this year.

Thought I remember reading if we took 30 this year, we would be at 82.

some of these arguments make no sense. all his jags were in 2011. last year he got gilbert who was all big 10, corn and griffin who were all american caliber. We have two highly regarded busts in jelani and grimble. also, dequan ivory we flipped out of no where to us from louisville and was well-regarded. unfortunately, we only seem to get dt's who can qualify but are lazy. Our academics hurt us with Stuckey who is a beast and honestly, travonte might not be coming here because of his grades and just saving face.

More mental gymnastics here.........

Lets start with the first comment, we had plenty of jags in the 2012 class, that was the problem there, we were all hyped up about Al's evals and how he took all these unknown kids at Temple and made NFL players out of them. Now many have already left and kids like Larry Hope have been passed on by on the depth chart by true freshman like Corn. Corn is a stud and Griffin is mega stud, but the Griffin thing was all fools gold. The kid never ever had a chance to qualify, all one had to do is listen to the Texas teams' posters, they all said that while a true 5 star he could barely read and that they would bet the house that he wasnt ever gonna play major college ball anywhere. Gilbert was an honorable mention Big 10, talk about stretching the truth there...... Also Ivory was not well-regarded, he looked like a big kid that could play but he wasnt in anyway shape or form considered a top DT. The overall DT recruiting has been a massive failure all around. Yes even without TV we had a decent pull, but decent isnt good enough when struck out the previous 2 years. Then that last line and sentence, Stuckey is decent and would have helped us but you really gonna call a player that was basically FSU scraps a beast? Not even gonna touch the TV line.....

We are once again in dire straits with another staff, and as a Miami fan it just sucks. Hopefully Al turns it around, but right now there is zero ziltch on the table that he does....

Funny, people were whining that Louisville had better defensive linemen than we do just a short while ago. But when you talk about Ivory being not well regarding, he was a Louisville commit that Golden flipped late.

Still the point stands and that in no way shape or form was Ivory well regarded, Canes were excited and I was one of them because I still believed that Golden was an elite evaluator at the time.

Exactly. NCAA said no. The nine have to be used whether we like it or not and I'd prefer 3/yr...

I'm pretty sure 5th year seniors who have already graduated don't count towards athletic scholarships.
Athletic scholarships are 4 years renewable each year. Freshman, sophomore, junior and senior.
Players can have up to 6 years of eligibility if you include redshirt and medical redshirt years.

When players graduate and still have eligibility left I believe they can be shifted to graduate fellowships to cover their ride, hence relieving the athletic departments fiscal responsibility.

I don't know why that keeps being dismissed for Valentine. He committed in early July. Our first 7 games we smoke and mirror'ed our way to respectable defensive rankings. Then the wheels came off.

We averaged allowing something close to 500 yards and 37 points a game down the stretch. There was a thread on here linking to LSU's boards and the buzz was how Valentine really had issues with what he saw from our defense after the Duke game. Naturally, the rest of the season didn't help, and LSU hammered home our poor performance as a pitch. They were also able to point to their top 25 defense despite losing 8 starters, and their attacking philosophy.

I know everyone is throwing molotov ****tails at Champagnat's door and writing angry letters, but there's some pretty real reasons of why this went down, conspiracies aside.

I guess if we don't get 30, we can just use more this year towards the 9 though. Lol

Meanwhile, Florida gonna have a top 5 class coming off a 4-8 season. **** our lives.

For Golden, this is a Catch22.

Scenario 1: "The Florida Model".... He fires Dorito, hires a new DC and can sell kids like Valentine on a new scheme, hope, trending up, etc, etc. I 100% believe that Valentine is in this class if this happens.

Scenario 2: "The Cover my own *** Model"... Keep the entire staff, suffer some recruiting losses and create a ton of negative thoughts in the local area in regards to the staff's competence. This model is terrible for the fans and the current players, but great for Golden. He gets 2014 to see if he can correct the issues. If he doesn't, he can now fire some people and then he can sell the "Florida Model" to recruits and fans in 2015. He then gets another season in 2015 to field a competent squad. By not firing Dorito, he makes the team worse, but guarantees himself another "out" and therefore another season next year.

Pathetic but a smart move for Al.

Can someone explain to me why or the reason the staph didn't recruit Battle?

No, becuase the staff does what it does. No one here knows why they offer some kids over others. The only answer is the obviously didnt think he was someone they wanted. You can do this with any number of kids. Im sure any program has plenty of kids people can say "Why didnt we offer Joe Blow".

Doesn't make sense with a contract that runs through 2020 making it too costly to fire AL for several more years...............

You mean like "At Miami I would have to come in and play right away, whereas at LSU I could take my time and ease into things"?

LMFAO. First time in the HISTORY of recruiting, I have actually heard a kid use the excuse that he DIDNT want early playing time, and that's why he wasnt going to a school.

This kid has given about 100 different reasons why he was leaning to LSU. It changes every day. The one CONSTANT with his recruitment, has been that sack of googley eyed, blood sucking bacteria assistant coach/pimp of his.

100 reasons for LSU are simply 100 dollar bills and plenty of them.
